His Unexpected Mate

chapter six

Isabella

It's finally Saturday Chris is getting ready to leave for work. My nerves are so up in the air that I'm trying to keep calm so as not to show anything.

He calls for me I walk into the living room he's standing by the door. I walk over to him he hands me the list of things he wants to be done today.

"Thank you..." I say to him.

"I expected it all done when I get home I only have to be there till two today so I'll be here by three. If you have everything done properly I'll take you to dinner tonight."

I smile at him." Thank you that sounds good.."

He leans down and gives me a small peck on the lips. He turns walking out the door.

I walk back to the kitchen and look at the clock it says seven okay. Brian is gonna be at the park in an hour.

I know Mandy isn't going to call me today we can't have any contact over the phone today he needs to think she is out of town. I walk through the house looking at things. I've been here for over a year. I'm not taking anything with me. I put my phone on the bedside table. Make sure I'm wearing clothes that won't make me stand out in the crowd.

I guess it's time to head down to the park. The only thing I take is my wallet I know Mandy said I wouldn't need it but I don't want to leave it I'm leaving everything else ...

I walk out of the house and start towards the park Mandy said Brian would be on the backside of the park farthest from the main entrance fewer people are back there.

I walk through the park heading to the back side I see Brian's grey truck parked off to the side.

I walk over and he gets out

"Isabella !"He calls to me he reaches out hugging me.

I haven't seen or talked to him in almost a year.

He smiles, "Let's get going."

He walks me to the passenger side opening the door for me. I gladly climb in buckling up. He comes back to the driver's side gets in he asks if I'm ready.

With a nod, I say yeah. It's now or never with that we pull out. We start heading to meet Mandy it's gonna be about a three hr drive to catch up to her. We make small talk he can tell I'm nervous so he keeps the talking to a minimum.

My head is filled with the what-ifs I'm worried Chris will find out they all helped me.

I don't want them to be in the crossfire when he gets home and figures out I left...

Mandy

I look at the time it's eleven I know Brian met up with isabella at eight so they should soon be here. Then we can head out the sooner we get moving the farther away she will be from him.

Brian said he had Chris working till two so this gives us a good head start. I see Brian's truck pulling in I quickly run out to meet them.

Isabella gets out running over and hugging me. I can tell she is worried I squeeze her shoulder and smile letting her know it's gonna work out.

Brian comes around the truck.

"Hey, Isabella let me know how you make out I know you won't be able to contact me directly but get Mandy a message so she can get it to me."

"Take care of yourself" he gives her a hug

"Thank you, Brian"

Brian heads out we don't want to spend too much time we need to get moving we need to be far enough away by the evening time that he can't track her.

We load up the two horses. I had my bag packed in the truck already. With that, we head out.

We are just outside of Tennessee so it's gonna be a long ride we don't plan on stopping overnight gonna just stopping at rest areas to give the horses a break. Giving us a chance to get out of the truck. To be able to get food and drinks we are trying to not have to stop so much.

We have been driving for twelve hours now. We have been sharing the driving each taking a turn.

Dave called me and said that Chris has already been there looking for Isabella he was mad Dave played it cool though. Said he hasn't seen her since the weekend she stopped by and that I was currently delivering a horse.

Chris asked for the place that duke went to but Dave said he wasn't sure of the name of the lady as it was a deal that I had set up. He didn't get in the middle he just knew the lady was from out of town. He said Chris just huffed and then stormed off in his truck.

Isabella has been quiet since the phone call I know she is overthinking.

We got about twelve more hours before we will be at Clara's place I'll take a rest there for the night load up the next day to head out to drop this other horse off. I'm just hoping Isabella doesn't break down on me before we get there.

I can see it's taking all she has to keep it together.

"Hey Nick I need to see you in my office"

I say through the mind link.

"Yes, Alpha on my way..."

I hear a knock I know it's Nick. I yell to come in.

He comes in and sits in the chair across from my desk.

"Did you get with Clara about the girl coming?? It's already Sunday evening she said they would be here Monday sometime."

"Yeah, I did. Sara and I went out to the farm. Did Clara tell you anything about this girl as to why she coming ?"

I just look at him. "No... Why ??"

Well truth is that she tried I just wasn't listening.

"Man you should have paid attention. She has been through some s**t. Clara is helping her cause her boyfriend has been abusing her for two years. It's like super bad Clara's friend called her to ask for a favor. She is bringing the girl here along with her horse. Clara said the girl's name is Isabella Davis.."

"Isabella," I say her name Seth purrs in my head I like the sound of her name.

"What is wrong with you lately how many times do I have to say it she is a human..... Now stop giving me a headache.."

Nick's looking at me with this amusing face.

"WHAT!" I say to him.

"Nothing you look like you're having an argument with your wolf.."

I groan." I am he won't stop pestering about this girl he's been giving me headaches since I said she could come here."

Nick just smirks.

"Hey man maybe she's your mate wouldn't that be funny.."

I just growl at him.

"I don't need a mate," I yell.

"Now get out let me know when she arrives .."

"Yes sir Alpha," he says getting up he walks out of my office.

God, he's lucky he's my best friend .. he works on my nerves.

I do wonder if she running now will there be a threat later will this guy find her here causing problems? Why did it take her two years to leave, Why she does not leave sooner? God, I hope I don't regret my decision to let her stay at the farm come back to haunt me.
