Kate
After being released from the hospital, I was sent immediately to the sanatorium, for rehabilitation. Although, I couldn't see Dean, I knew he was near and didn't leave me alone. I wonder why do I have so much faith in someone I barely know... But... He is different. Despite having a horrible headache, I laughed laying on my bed in the room I shared with a girl named Esther. She was way older than I'm, probably in her late thirties, early forties.
- Headache? - she asked and all I could do was lifting my thumb up. I knew if I tried to shake my head I'll definitely throw up.
- I'd kill for even a single paracetamol! -she said and I giggled.
-It will be better soon, at least I stopped vomiting. Who knew I'll be happy because of this reason once? - I asked and she pat my shoulder. Esther turned the lights down and pulled the curtains.
- You are doing an amazing job Katy! This isn't my first rodeo unfortunately, but I've never had such a determined roommate! Maybe you'll be the reason I can come clean this time too! - I smiled at her while she poured a glass of water and handed it to me.
- I'm not doing this for fun... I promised it to someone that I'll exceed expectations this week, and if I do, I can meet with him.
- Oh... So there's another kind of drug that you are looking for?! - Esther said and I felt my cheeks burning. I have been here for almost a week now, it might sound crazy, but I felt Dean's presence at night or when I felt really shitty, and I couldn't wait to finally see him.
- No more drugs... I threw up too many times to ever think about them again... - I said and Esther laughed.
- I hope you'll be right me dear! So when is your knight on his white mane coming? - "Knight on a white mane... More like the grim reaper on a horse of bones!" - I've started laughing after imagining that scene. "f**k I'm literally waiting for death to come!"
- He said he is visiting this Saturday. - I said and Esther clapped her hands together.
- That's tomorrow girly! Let's choose a sexy outfit for you! - she said and enthusiastically ripped the wardrobe open. She picked a few clothes and said.
- Let's see! We have grey, blue or white rehab gowns from Vouge 2024! I think the blue one would make your skin look more lively! - I laughed as she presented the same dresses in different colors as if they were really something special. Esther had shoulder length, rose gold hair, rounded face and warm brown eyes. She also had a few birthmarks on her face, but as if they were specifically put to the places that are considered sexy. Under her eye, in the corner of her mouth. She used to be a beautiful woman, but due to her addiction her skin now looked a bit sickly and she lost lots of weight, but not the will to live and I was happy to meet her.
- Thank you for your help. - I said gratefully and she walked to me pinching my cheeks.
- Of course darling! If I wouldn't f****d uo my life in my teens, I could've had a girl like you by now. So pardon me if I act all motherly, but I really want to experience this feeling. - I stood up and hugged her.
- I never knew my mother, and the one who called herself as mother, used me for her benefits, Esther, you are the closest to be a motherly figure for me! - she hugged me tighter and I heard her sobbing.
- Don't flatter me sweety... I know I f****d up greatly.
- Stop disregard yourself! You are trying really hard to get better! This is encouraging! - she wiped her tears and we headed down for dinner. I was really thankful to have Esther as my roommate, because the rest of the people around us were depressed, closed and rude. I took a look at the new "inmates" as Esther called us and received only angry glances.
- Was I this messed up when I arrived? - I asked Esther whispering while we got our medicine and dinner. We took a seat at the corner of the dining room and she chuckled.
-Sweety! You looked like a feral cat! Hissed at every movement around you and whining for the slightest thing. But the first few days are the worst and luckily, you haven't been addicted to substances for that long before coming here.
- I'm sorry for being rude in the beginning.
- Forget it! I attacked a nurse when I was first admitted! You can't even walk in my shadow sweety! - we laughed while ate our food but my mind was already around tomorrow. I couldn't wait to see Dean. I barely slept at night and Esther helped me get my hair a bit together before the visit started. I was sitting next to her on a bench in the garden facing the entrance.
- I'm so nervous... - I said and she pat my hands.
- If he loved you while you were sick, he'll adore your healing version! If not, I can still kick his ass for you! A month more or less it doesn't matter, I already have a seasonal rent here. - I laughed at Esther's comment but the sun had been covered suddenly by someone. I looked uo and my eyes met the pair of golden eyes I've been longing for.
- Am I interrupting something? I can come back later. - Dean said with his hands in his pockets and shrugged turning away. I jumped up from the bench and caught his arm as if my life depended on it. He looked at me over his shoulder with a handsome grin and turned around to hug me. Esther winked behind his back she even checked Dean's ass out showing me thumbs up which made me blush.
- Wow! I haven't expected such a warm welcome! - he said and I tried to calm my racing heart.
- Did you bring what I asked for? - I asked and his glance got darker. In the first days I sneaked out and called him, begging for some painkillers because my head was killing me. Dean pulled further and sighed.
- I thought you were getting better. - his eyes looked slightly disappointed and I stopped joking around.
- I just wanted one thing. - I said.
- I'm craving for it actually. - he waited and a smile spread on my face. He shook his head and kissed my forehead.
- You'll take me to the grave you know? - he asked while we held hands and walked around the garden.
- Isn't that your bedchamber or something similar? - I asked mockingly and Dean scoffed.
- Do I look like a cheap knock off vampire for you? - I laughed and he snuggled a bit to my side.
- I missed you. - I said out loud without thinking and caught my free hand in front of my mouth. Dean stopped and sighed before pulling me to his chest.
- I shouldn't, but I missed you too. I was actually thinking about rescuing you a week ago but I knew I'm helping by staying away. Also, my mother scolded me...
- Your mother? Did they come back from vacation? - Dean nodded.
- Yes, a few days ago, my father wasn't the happiest because of some of my decisions, but in general everything is okay.
- What decision he didn't like? - I asked curiously although I knew the answer. Dean didn't answer, instead we walked into the main area of the building where residents could've chat and eat with their visitors. We just took a seat and I leaned my head on Dean's shoulder he whispered.
- Kate... I've been in many crypts, but I've never seen such a dead atmosphere. - I felt my eyes widening at him and I busted into laughter.
