My Waterloo

1680 Words
Dean I've watched over her for the past two weeks and only when Kate was asleep or very freaking out, I gave her some peace. It hurt me seeing her being in pain, but I knew that if I get involved more in her rehabilitation, she might never fully recover. Kate's eyes got their shine back with every successful day that passed. Her skin also looked already healthier and she started getting back the weight she lost in the first week. Walking hand in hand with her, in the nicely tended garden made me feel almost real. I was glad that she could make a friend here, although, I saw that Esther still needed long time to get well. Her soul was still so cloudy and dim like Kate's at the first time I brought her back to life. We walked into the main hall and suddenly I felt an overwhelming sense of death around me. Almost everyone had their eyes empty and even the weather got colder. I leaned closer to Kate's ear and whispered. - Kate... I've been in many crypts, but I've never seen such a dead atmosphere. - her eyes widened and she started laughing to her heart's content. Every eye turned towards us and she suddenly became self conscious. - I'm sorry... - she said to the other patients but I just shrugged. - Don't ask pardon for being alive Kate. - she gasped an bit and blushed. Soon Esther appeared and she took a seat on the other side of Kate who remained quiet since she laughed out loud. Esther looked at me and than at her, in a single second she put two and two together and she sighed out loudly. - Dear Lord... I feel like I'm in a mourning house and not in a rehabilitation clinic! Can't we at least turn on some music for f**k's sake? - the nurses shook their head and turned a music similar that plays in SPAs. She rolled her brown eyes and buried her face in her hands. - No wonder why everyone is yearning for drugs... This is torture alone!- Kate grinned but covered her mouth to avoid any judging glances. I picked my phone and searched between the music I had and found a remix of one of ABBA's greatest hits. I jumped up and turned the music to the loudest my phone could. - My my! - I sang and everyone stared at me angrily. - What are you doing? - Kate asked in shock and I kneeled in front of her singing the lyrics and acting like Harry's character in Mamma Mia 2. Soon Esther joined the choir part and we were goofily dancing in the middle of the room. Kate blushed but I saw the sparks in her eyes. I skipped to her holding Esther's hands and she mimicked a microphone with a spoon she suddenly picked up from a table. Kate giggled and took it from her. -How could I ever refuse? I feel like I win when I loose! - Esther sang and Kate finally relaxed. I turned her into my arm and danced around the room spinning her from time to time. Somehow our glance kept locked at each other's. She became the most beautiful creature that ever walked on Earth, there, in the rehabilitation clinic, filled with depressed people, in a patient gown and her red hair flying all around us. Suddenly we stopped and she held my hands singing. - Waterloo, knowing my fate is to be with you! - I picked her up and put her on top of the table and she kept singing while a few patients joined clapping and singing happily. I took her off before the song ended and spun her around one last time before sitting back to our seats like nothing happened. The nurses approached us frowning and ready to nag us. Kate pulled the sleeve of my t-shirt and asked. - What now? - she asked and I kissed her suddenly on her hand. - Never let them know what is your next move! - I said as I jumped up, threw her over my shoulder and sprinted out to the garden being chased by a few nurses. She laughed and I felt her hands trying to grab on me to balance herself. I jumped behind some bushes and covered her mouth until the nurses gave up and walked back. - You are crazy! - she said still giggling and her pretty face red from laughter and embarrassment. I shrugged and smiled at her. - If I've learned something during my internship and the last two weeks, is that people have many regrets when they die. But I've never heard anyone regretting being young and wild! The best memories are made when you don't give a f**k about what others are saying or thinking! Just enjoy life while you have it. - she looked at me with a serious expression and whispered. - I sometimes forget who you are... - I laughed and pinched her cheek. - Worry not little Gingersnap! I won't take you away for a long long time. - But you would come for me... If I called you? - she said with a sexy glance in her eyes and an adorable smile in the corner of her lips. - You intentionally made that pun. - I said feeling my ears getting red and Kate shrugged. - You just told me not to regret being alive! - I held her face in my hands, looking deeply into her eyes. - You are so cute, and adorable, and... Gorgeous. - she smiled and held my hands with hers without removing then from her cheek. - As I already said, you are deadly handsome! - She chuckled. - What? - Nothing, I just remembered what I thought yesterday while I was choosing from my colorful wardrobe the most fitting dress for today's occasion. - I laughed as she looked down on the blue gown. - What was the thought that took a turn in your pretty little head? - Kate leaned closer and our lips almost touched when she said. - f**k I'm literally waiting for death to come! - I laughed and she suddenly kissed me. My heart filled with desire and I got somehow scared of the intensity of my emotions. But, I couldn't refuse them, neither wanted to. I pulled her closer, into my lap and kept kissing Kate passionately. When we pulled further we both tried to catch our breaths and she blushed. - Wow... This was otherworldly. - she said and I rolled my eyes at the horrible pun. - Looks like this is your specialty! - I said pinching her nose while she giggled. - Kissing? - she asked innocently. - Puns. Horrible puns. But I must admit, your kissing skills are better than your humor... Not like the bar is high... - She punched me again in the shoulder but laughed. Kate leaned towards me to kiss me again but I stopped her by getting up and offering a hand. - Let's go back, the visiting hours will soon end and I think we already caused enough trouble for today! - she looked a bit disappointed but got up as well. While we were walking back, I said. - The man who you are going to love, is a very lucky one. - Kate looked confused and I saw that she wanted to ask something, but we already were back. Everyone said their goodbyes as the nurses tried to herd the patients back to their rooms. - I'll see you next weekend! Keep it up this good work Kate! I'm very proud of you! - I said giving a kiss on her forehead and turning away. I had to force myself to take the steps away from her as my heart was pulling me back. "Stop it... You gave her a second chance for a good life, nothing good would come to her if she falls for the death." - You are back sooner than I expected! - a familiar voice said as I appeared in our living room. - The visiting hours are over. - I said and wanted to go to my room but my mother grabbed my shoulder from behind and turned me around. - You look like a ghost full of dept. What's wrong? - her golden eyes shined at me with worry but I forced a smile on my face. - Letting go... Is more difficult than I thought it would be. - Letting go? Don't tell me you fell for her soul! - mom said and I nodded admitting the unchangeable facts. - I'll try to keep some distance, so she could have a normal life. As the saying goes "If you really love someone, you let them go." - mom shook her head and her long black hair slapped me gently. - You are such an i***t, like your father! - Are you summoning me, my little Donna? - dad suddenly appeared behind mom kissing her neck. - No, I just called you an i***t! - Dad chuckled. - You called me that so many times already during all these centuries, that I thought it's my nickname. May I know why am I an i***t this time? - she rolled her eyes and explained to dad the situation. He looked into my eyes. His blood red eyes sparkled with curiosity. He was two heads taller than mom, short black hair, fair skin, and only God knew his age. - I think it's time to tell him the truth. - he said and mom nodded. - What truth? - Take a seat, Dean. - I gulped as mom called me by the name Kate gave me. They sat in front of me and mom took a deep breath. - You need to learn more about how we met and the trials of the Reapers wife. - she said and the room got chilly.
