- You have already mentioned the trials, but could you elaborate a bit? - I asked and mom nodded.
- So, we married and your father stayed with me on Earth for a while, but he didn't belong there. I knew he'd never ask anything too reckless from me so I had to take the initiative into my own hands. I went to my grave and picked a few flowers. When he arrived home at night I wore my lace dress and raised a glass of tea for a toast.
You should've seen his eyes! - mom said giggling and clinging onto dad's arm. He wasn't that joyful when he recalled the memory.
- What have you done? - I asked and mom laughed while dad sighed and answered.
- She made a freaking tea of the belladonna flowers!!! Before she sent the whole glass of poison down she said in her toast "For our eternal life".
- What happened after that?
- What would've? I died! Immediately! - mom said laughing and I felt a bit awkward looking at her wiping her tears of joy while my father got at least two shades paler than he originally was. Mom pinched his nose and said.
- Oh come on! We met immediately! That was the only way to introduce me to your family! -
- You killed yourself to meet your in-laws?! Mom! I knew you weren't normal... But are you nuts?! - she chuckled happily and dad just looked into my eyes searching for some sympathy.
- But it worked! Once my soul escaped the human vessel we traveled to your grandparents. I was excited while your poor father was still in slight shock. When we arrived you Aunt gasped and squeaked excitedly like a chipmunk.
- I knew it! - she shouted and your grandparents looked at us in disbelief. Your aunt rushed to me and hugged me like an old friend would.
- Hi Donna!!! - she cheered and your father just stood there stunned.
- I should've known that you had your hands in this! - he said to her but your aunt just shrugged and said.
- A simple thank you for helping me be with the love of my life is enough! But I love roses! - I felt my eyes widening as I imagined that whole scene and I couldn't hold my laughter back either. As if we called her the door of our home swung open and the living room got filled with colorful flowers.
- Hello my sweethearts! - Aunt Life surfed into the house on her sea of flowers and pulled me up form my seat. She started pinching and rubbing my cheeks.
- My baby Death you are getting more and more handsome with each day! There a rose! - she said and put an orange rose with oink ends behind my ear. I blushed as the colors reminded me of Kate and she immediately spotted it.
- DON'T TELL ME! - she said and jumped at my father hugging him crazily while he looked desperately at mom asking for help.
- Your little span of death is in love! Where you telling him about the trials? Where is she?! - Life was like a hurricane of optimism and happiness which father could handle pretty badly with his calm and silent demeanor. Mom gently removed aunty from him and I saw my father taking a relieved breath before he collapsed onto the sofa but jumped up immediately when the thorns pinched him.
- Choose one Donna. - he said and mom picked a flower up, of course it was a belladonna. Dad grinned and with the snap of his fingers the flowers dried and the wind took them out of the house.
- Why? - Aunty asked and I hugged her from behind to avoid her emotional outburst.
- I'm allergic to flowers aunty! - I lied and despite she knew it she shrugged.
- In that case there's nothing we can do! - mom chuckled and went to the kitchen, she came back with some tea and cookies. I looked at the tea with scepticism and Life laughed almost spitting hers on dad.
- So you already heard your mother's memorable entrance! - I've nodded and saw my aunt getting calmer. Mom winked at me and I realized that she gave her calming tea.
- My parents were about to tell me about the trials. As you already found out, I fancy someone. - she squeaked again and cozied up in the armchair with her tea and waved her hand to dad motioning to go on. Dad rolled his eyes but continued.
- Your grandparents were shocked. They opposed the whole thing immediately since your mother was a living soul once and not someone like us. - he said pointing at himself and Life. She nodded vehemently.
- You should've see the old man! He was furious! Mom on the other hand, I think she got used to out stupidity already.
- About time! - I said and they all laughed.
- Your grandpa wanted to get rid of me, so he gave me three trials to complete. - mom said sipping her tea calmly but her eyes shined wickedly.
- Father had no idea your mother completed them long ago! He almost blew up by anger! - Aunty said laughing.
- What where the trials? - I asked getting a bit impatient and excited to know what should someone complete who wants to love the Grim Reaper.
- The first was to find out what my name was. - dad said and the puzzle pieces finally fall into their places.
- That's why you didn't give me a name! Because mom gave you yours! - mom nodded proudly. I knew that the second time they met, and had their wedding, they had to say their names. Since dad couldn't say Death, mom quickly said Grim Reaper.
- The second was to give up the most valuable thing she had to be with me without remorse. - I looked at mom.
- My life was my most valuable asset. We married woth your father so the house and all physical things I owned became ours. Since my children from another life and everything else was already gone, that was the last thing I had and it was solely my own. - Aunty kicked the air giggling, she was lost in her own memories of the incident.
- Then, your grandfather said "The one who wants to marry Death, must value Life."
- He thought he got me with that since I threw my life away to be woth your father. - mom said and Aunty jumped up.
- But your mother kissed your dad in front of them and said "I value Life, that's why I want to live it the best and happiest I can to tribute to her!" - they all laughed probably imagining grandpa's face and grandma's laughter from back then.
- Lastly, the ultimate trial, with what Father Tima thought could scare Donna away was" You must choose death over life". Your mother shrugged stating the fact that she was already standing there. - Life said.
- That's how, I tricked Death, and Time with the help of Life to become the wife of the Grim Reaper. - mom said and dad got up to kiss her. Aunty watched them with a relaxed and happy smile before she turned to me with a wink and asked.
- So who is the next candidate?
