The Reapers

Kate I've received my bag with my clothes I wore a month ago when I was admitted to the rehabilitation. I got dressed into my black jeans and grey t-shirt that said "There goes my last flying f**k" with a lovely skeleton and butterfly design. When I got into the red sneakers that's when reality hit me. I was free. Free of the abuse, free of the pain and with still a week till school started, which meant I might be able to start a new. Esther watched me getting ready and wiped a tear from her eye, blowing her nose right after into a tissue. I looked at her in the reflection of the mirror. - What's wrong? - I asked walking to her and holding her hand. - I'll miss you Katy! And... I'm proud of you! Promise me I won't see you here anymore! - I giggled and lifted my pinky. - Promise me we won't meet here anymore! - Esther's eyes widened and I saw determination in her glance. She locked he pinky with mine, lifted our hands like glasses for a toast and said. - To the see you outside! - I laughed and repeated after her adding. - To the cleaner future! - a nurse knocked on the door and I quickly scribbled down my number for Esther so we could keep in touch. - I'll come to visit! - I said and she shook her head. - I'll see you out there soon, don't ever come back here not even for visiting dear!-I hugged Esther and followed the nurse outside. The nurses stood along the corridor with Dr. Brown as well, they clapped and congratulated me. Dr. Brown gave me her name card and said that she'll be always there if needed. I bid goodbye to the people who were my world for a month and took a step outside into the sunshine. One last glance at the door, at the waving people with their smiling faces and headed towards the main gate. The weather was warm, the birds were singing and the scent of flowers invaded my nose. My skin warmed and a smile spread on my face, I wanted to scream in happiness and couldn't wait to see who's going to be my new family. "I hope they'll like me..." - I thought, trying to recall what Dr. Brown said about them the first time we met. I believe she said they have a son around my age... "Urgh...I hope he won't be a freak that tries to touch me or something like that. Now that I think about it, jail is not a bad option either..." Unexpectedly, a car stopped at the main gate, it was a matte black Cadillac Devile. How would I know that? Because my previous foster father dreamed about and saved for that car ever since I knew my mind. He loved that car more than his wife, but never had enough money to buy one. "He'd die of jealousy if I owned a car like this one day!" The doors opened and a woman, as gorgeous as the moon stepped out of the car. I almost fell on my knees when I saw her. She was tall, thin, looked delicate like a crystal flower that could break by the slightest touch. She moved so elegantly that I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Her long black hair danced around her thin waist with each step she took. Her face looked like an angel's, with soft features but in her golden eyes, I saw such a power that made my knees tremble. From the driver's side, an incredibly tall, slender man got out of the car. He wore black suit and his short black hair shined under the sunshine. He walked to the woman and wrapped his strong looking hand around her tiny waist. His eyes were similar to burning fire and his features opposite of the woman's, strong, edged but beautiful. Not even the large scar on the left side of his face could ruin the whole picture. They had a little Morticia and Gomez vibe from Addams family. I felt confused, but got even more surprised when a figure I knew well, got out of the car. Dean waved to me happily and he rushed to my side hugging me and taking my backpack away. I held his hand and wanted to ask him what was going on, while the couple stared at me from head to toe with neutral expressions. Out of nowhere, Dr. Brown appeared next to me and said. - Katherine, I see you already met your new foster family. They are Mr. and Mrs. Reaper. Looks like you know their son Dean already. - Dean grinned and winked at me. - Surprise! - he said and I didn't know what to say. The couple suddenly smiled warmly as one, and the woman walked to me hugging me strongly. Her strength caught me out of guard. - I'm happy to finally meet you Katherine! My name is Donna, he is my Husband Grimaldey and you know my son Dean. - Grimaldey walked her and extended his hand for a handshake for me. He smiled at me and despite the fire in his eyes, Grimaldey emitted such a calm aura around him, that I felt drowsy. - Welcome to our family Katherine, call me Grim. - I shook his hand and felt a power even stronger than Dean's. - Really nice to meet you both, please call me Kate. - Dean put my backpack into the car and Donna smiled sweetly while Dr. Brown discussed a few things with Grim. Dean looked like a child at Christmas. - May I speak with you for a moment? - I asked and Donna giggled. - I'll give a hand to my lovely husband. - she leaned closer and whispered. - He is not a people person! - she walked to Grim almost floating and locked her arm with his, smiling at Dr.Brown. Grim's tensed shoulders relaxed immediately, it was a very interesting sight. - Why didn't you tell me that I'm going to live with your family? - I asked and Dean shrugged with a mischievous grin. - I needed to hear from you first that you wanted to be with me, even after getting back on your feet. I can't obey you to stay if you want to live a normal life. - he said so easily that it finally made sense. Why he tried to push me away and why Life asked all those questions. - You should've simply asked. - I said and Dean hugged me gently whispering into my ear. - If it was that simple, I would've done it. - he pulled away and looked deeply into my eyes. His scent surrounded me and I wanted to kiss him so badly that it hurt. - Kate, I want you to experience real life. I want you to enjoy your youth and to make memories. In the end, if you still choose to stay with me, I'd be the happiest. If you decide to stay, I'll wait till you change your mind, like my father did. - he said looking at his parents with a proud smile. - You are right, this sounds complicated. I'm not sure if I understand it completely. - he took a glance at Dr. Brown and after he made sure she is not looking, he gave me a quick kiss. Donna and Grim bid their goodbyes and walked back to us. Donna clapped her hands together excitedly and asked. - Shall we go home? - we nodded and Dean helped me to get into the car. - Could we stop at my old house? There are a few things I'd like to bring with me. - I asked in a low voice once the car was in motion. Grim looked at me in the rearview mirror and smiled a bit. - Of course!
