Chapter 3 TAKEN HOSTAGE BY THE ALPHA

1321 Words
Not far from where Cerise and Kayne was, someone was running in the forest in all his might while following the scent of his alpha. It was Elijah Contreras, Beta of the North pack and also Kayne’s best friend. After receiving the message Kayne had briefly sent him through their mind link, he wasted no time in leaving and started tracking him in the forest. He knew Kayne was in trouble and he was feeling beyond anxious to get to his Alpha and help him. He sprinted through the forest and Kayne’s scent hit him even stronger and that’s when he knew that he was near. He continued to run till he finally stumbled upon the area where he found him lying on the ground, butt naked and unconscious. His eyes widened in shock but a movement caught his eyes and that’s when he finally noticed a girl standing by Kayne’s side while looking down at the alpha. She dressed in shabby looking clothes and the lower half of her shirt was ripped off, revealing one side of her slim waist. Cerise immediately looked up and their eyes met. She took a step back while the beta started walking towards her but then he suddenly stopped when he caught her scent. His fists automatically clenched by his sides and he glared daggers at her. If there’s one thing that he and Kayne have in common, its their strong dislike for rogues who entered their territory without permission. But his anger increased up a notch when he realized that she could be the one that had attacked the alpha. “What have you done?!” He shouted at her with gritted teeth. “It’s not what it looks like.” Cerise replied defensively. “Get away from him!” Before Cerise had the chance to move, Elijah was in front of her so fast and grabbed her neck forcefully with one hand. She tried to fight against his grip but he was twice her size and much stronger that even his claws was starting to dig into her skin. She was starting to have difficulty in breathing. “Stop!” A deep voice ordered from nearby and they both turned to the side, seeing that it was the alpha who had finally regain consciousness and was now looking at both of them with a hard look on his face. He slowly started to stand and looked straight at Cerise. “Let her go Elijah.” Cerise immediately avert her eyes somewhere else instead of facing Kayne, considering the fact that he was still naked in front of them both. The guy holding her in a choke-hold named Elijah slowly withdraw his hand at the guy’s command, but he never stopped glaring at her. “Alpha.” He acknowledged Kayne with a brief nod before giving him a pair of shorts to wear, which he surprisingly had with him the whole time. The word ‘Alpha’ totally took her by surprise, and Cerise turned her head to the side to glance at Kayne. But when he caught her watching him while putting the shorts on, she immediately looked away again and cleared her throat. She started to feel troubled when she suddenly realized the kind of situation she’s got herself into now. She helped an unconscious man who turned out to be alpha and now she’s standing on the land that without a doubt could be his territory. “Why’d you stop me? She’s the one that attacked you!” Elijah’s sudden outburst made her frown angrily and she scoffed in disbelief. “Attacked him? Correction, I saved his life. Why made you think that I attacked him when I don’t even know the two of you?” Elijah growled in frustration and took a step towards her, but Kayne grabbed him, holding off his arm and pulling him back in time. “You’re one of them.” Kayne stated with his eyes sweeping over her appearance and disgust laced in his tone. He remembered what had happened to him earlier and it was taking all of his willpower to contain his anger. He was starting to feel impatient because he wanted to kill someone so badly. A rogue more specifically, and one was standing right in front of him. But the only thing that was stopping him is because he was aware that she’s also the one who had dressed his wound. He wanted to know her reasons before he finishes her off. “I say we kill her, right here right now. For trespassing and for not telling the truth.” Elijah remarked. “Maybe we should.” Kayne also said. The pure look of hatred in their eyes was enough to make Cerise’s feeling of panic and fear to skyrocket. At first she was mad that they didn’t even let her explain herself. Seeing the look on their faces, she asked herself, what else was there for her to say so that they would let her go? “Look, this is all a misunderstanding okay? I am not one of those people you keep talking about and I was not the one who made you passed out in the middle of the woods. If I was, then why would I bother staying back and helped you to stop bleeding? If I knew that I would be wrongly accused for this whole misunderstanding, then I should’ve just mind my own business and let you bleed to death instead.” She reasoned out with a calm tone. The guys glanced at each other for a minute and she noticed that they might be communicating through their mind link in secret. Then they both looked back at her with no expression on their faces, till the guy she had saved slowly walked up to her with his cold light brown eyes locking with her grey ones. She quickly swallowed the tight knot forming in her throat when he stopped right in front of her, their chests almost touching. He didn’t say a thing and neither did her. The intense eye contact that they held between them was too strong that neither of them was able to look away. Her heart was beating so fast. The excitement and the tension was almost making her feel dizzy. She stood her ground and narrowed her eyes back at him. She had no idea why she got this kind of feeling but it was obvious that this guy hated her appearance and her scent. Kayne still felt in pain and anger after being betrayed by his wife, which made him not only strengthen a strong hatred for rogues but develop one for women as well. Although the woman standing in front of him has a strong rogue scent around her, she saved him after all. And there’s no way he could ignore how his wolf was reacting to her and calling her ‘mate’ too. She was beautiful, that’s a fact he can settle with, but the timing of her appearance was too doubtful. A lot of mixed feelings inside him was stared, making it complicated for him to think of what to do next. And the more he kept staring into her beautiful grey eyes, the slowly his anger towards her was starting to fade away. But she was still a rogue! Now with a lot of things running through his mind, Kayne was trying to figure out the best answer. He was still itching for revenge and she might be the clue to help him find the filthy mutts that had crossed his territory this morning and attacked him. And also, he wanted to know the truth about her and whether she was telling them the truth or not. He suddenly grabbed her hand, trying to maintain his feelings under control when sparks ignited from their skin contact. “You, are coming with us.”
