Chapter 2 STUMBLED UPON FATE

1301 Words
The hairs on her back stood on edge as she watched them coming out of the shadows one by one, with a sick smile on their faces. There were six of them, all rogues that would gladly kill for pleasure. Although Cerise had come to accept the fact that she was one of them, killing was not in her nature. She knew it was a bad idea to go for a morning run using this route, but she was willing to take out anyone who would come in her way. However, she was't expecting to run into a group of male rogues who were now eyeing her like a piece of candy, ready to devour her. It was an advantage that she was still in her wolf form, but the fact that she was outnumbered was starting to worry her for a bit. “She's a beauty, aye?” One of them commented out loud with a smirk on his face. The rest of them agreed in return and they all started to circle her, trapping her in. Cerise braced herself and glanced at each of them one by one. Their clothes were dark and nearly in shreds, hanging off their big and built body. They all have a scruffy appearance, so it was not hard to identify them as filthy rogues who would never be accepted in a pack. They had already discovered her clothes and threw it in a corner, out of her reach, before they fully surrounded her. “C'mon baby! You've got nowhere else to run now. Shift back, then we can see you!” “Yeah c'mon!” Their teasing made her furious and the low growl that she suddenly releases, made them even more excited and clapped and hooted around her. “I've always had a thing for dark chocolates.” The tall guy in front of her said, referring to the color of her fur. Before he took another step forward to lay his hand on her, Cerise pounced on him, and dug her fangs near where his shoulder blade is, and ripped his arm out in one quick motion. That, was enough for the rest of them to realize that she was no ordinary wolf. She was the former alpha of the South Pack, having real alpha blood running through her veins. Sh's also quite powerful herself and very strong. But the rogues don’t know that, so in a split second they shifted into their wolves and started attacking her one by one. Cerise moved in a quick motion of time, defending herself with the power and strength she has. She killed the first wolf that pounced on her, snapping his neck apart with one bite. Then another one attacked her, but she managed to dodge his strike and bit his tail and threw him to a far side. Then she slammed another one on the huge rock nearby and the sound of his bone cracking from the hard impact, rang in the air. She managed to take them all out, and panted in exhaustion while seeing them lying all around her, with blood smeared all over them and on the grass beneath them. A sudden howl came from deep within the forest, her head snapped up and quickly glanced around. The injured rogues started to slowly get up and her eyes widened in panic. She was still alone and there could be more of them coming if they’re nearby. Without wasting another second, she gathered her clothes in her mouth and bolted from the area, running through the forest in all her might. She didn’t feel safe anymore, she felt extremely exposed while running through the unknown forest, with no idea where she had headed or even where she was at that moment. All she was thinking of, is to get to someplace safe and hide till dawn. Another howl pierced through the air, she froze and scanned her surroundings, while letting her supernatural hearing scout out the perimeter. She could hear them coming for her, the sound of their paws hitting the ground, heading towards her direction was unmistakable. She immediately shifted back to human form and quickly put her clothes on and started running again in an opposite direction. Her foot suddenly hit something big on the ground and she nearly tripped over. She quickly braced herself and swore under her breath because it completely startled her. Her eyes wandered down below her and they widened in shock. She gasped and took a step back with her hand clamped over her mouth. Her brain slowly started to register that she had not tripped over a thing but; An unconscious man. Cerise struggled with an urge to run, but her legs were glued to the ground. She wanted to look away and pretend that she didn’t see anything, however, her eyes were like locked on the man’s handsome face. She bit her lip with uncertainty and quickly glanced back behind her--in no time the rogues would soon catch up to her, she had to keep running and look for a secured place to hide. But why is this unconscious guy preventing her from doing so? “Help Him!” Her wolf immediately yapped in excitement. She shook her head furiously and took a couple of steps away from the guy. “Nope, not listening to you again. Last time this happened, I am now out here running for my life.” She argued defensively. “Please!” Her wolf desperately persuaded. Cerise crossed her arms and stared at him again. “I am not going to help him! I don’t even know him. What if he’s one of them?” “He’s not. Help him because if you don't, he's going to die out here! And you know that your conscious will not leave you alone when you turn your back on someone who needs your help.” Her wolf was right. It was one of the many things she hated about herself when it comes to situations like this. Offering help to people even when they don’t really need it. “Okay, screw this.” She mumbled under her breath in defeat, walked towards the guy again, and knelt by his side. Despite the promise she had made to herself that she will never love any man ever again, her wolf started to react like crazy when she got near him. Her heart started to beat so fast when she slowly reached out and placed her hand on her back. A sudden electric sensation that surged through her whole body just by the mere contact brought a new familiar feeling to her. She had to admit that he looks insanely handsome. His hair color was light brown with small golden streaks and he had a perfect nose, full lips, and a very well defined jawline. Cerise couldn’t help herself but stare at his strong bare muscles, and his back. And before her eyes could wander right below, she snapped out of her daze and pinned her eyes straight ahead instead. “One peak won't hurt.” Her wolf urged teasingly. She growled in annoyance and ripped out the edge of her long shirt. She pulled out the long material and draped it around his waist, which caused a little struggle to wrap it underneath him cos he was too heavy even for her. She repeated the process one more time before securing a knot on his back below the waistline. Right when she was about to stand, the man suddenly groaned that made her startled. Then she saw his eyes starting to move underneath his eyelids. Her throat went dry and her breath started to hitch in her throat when she finally realized that: He was starting to wake up.
