Lucas Yale

1113 Words
"Any news about the girl from that night?" Lucas Yale, the head of the Yale family, asked his assistant, Nat, with a concerned expression. "I've gathered that she's the daughter of Mr. Jacob and the rightful heiress of the Jacobs, her name is Olivia Jacob" Nat replied. Lucas's eyes narrowed. "So, where is she now?" "She was accused of infidelity and sent away by the Jacobs. She's been banished from Crest Valley," Nat said. Lucas's face fell, his eyes clouding with regret. "This is all my fault. Find out where she is, Nat. Gather all the information we need. She must be found." Just then, Lucas's phone rang. He answered, gesturing for Nat to leave. "Hello, Mother." "Lucas, you don't want to come see me? You've been away for so long. Come home this weekend, Yvonne is coming back. You still remember her, right? Your childhood lover," his mother said with a laugh. Lucas's mind wandered back to his moment with Olivia, a smile spreading across his face. "I'm in love with someone else, Mother." His mother's tone turned curious. "Really? When do you intend to bring her to see me?" "Soon, Mother." Lucas hung up the phone, his thoughts still with Olivia. "It's so difficult to get her out of my head," he said to himself, a soft smile lingering on his lips. *** Back at the Jacobs, the excitement in the room was overwhelming. “Ava we’re so proud of you. You’ve proven yourself worthy of the Jacobs inheritance. Half of the company’s shares will be given to you if you get Alex to marry you as soon as possible. Don’t waste any more time.” Mr Jacob said happily. “Yes my beautiful daughter, get Alex to hasten the wedding preparations. I can already imagine you in your wedding dress.” Clara added in excitement. “Mom, Dad, I promise I won’t disappoint you. Alex is in love with me, he’ll do whatever I ask.” Ava replied with a bright smile. Mr Jacob was satisfied with his daughter’s efforts. “I’m happy I still have a daughter as obedient and loyal like Ava, Olivia you brought this on yourself.” Mr Jacobs said to himself. Ava was quick to persuade Alex to marry her, despite the Smiths' reservations about their union. Meanwhile, the Jacobs successfully secured investors for their venture, thanks to the influence and support of the Smiths. As a result of Ava's efforts, the Jacobs family rose to become one of the most influential and prominent families in Crest Valley. *** The prospect of Lucas's visit had his mother bursting with excitement, as she tirelessly prepared for his arrival. She ensured a grand welcome, a peaceful atmosphere, and even his favorite meal. Lucas arrived a bit late, but Yvonne was already there, and the sound of their laughter filled the air. As Lucas approached the entrance, memories of his childhood at the manor house flooded his mind. He recalled running around with Yvonne, carefree and joyful. His reverie was interrupted by his mother's warm voice, "Oh, my darling boy!" She embraced him tightly, and for a moment, they were lost in each other's arms, savoring the warmth of their reunion. I missed you so much, baby. Come in, Yvonne is already here. You're late," his mother said, her voice tinged with a mix of warmth and gentle scolding. "Apologies, Mum. Something urgent came up at the company, and I had to attend to it before rushing over. Sorry, Mom." Lucas handed her a jewelry box, his eyes apologetic. His mother's eyes welled up with emotion as she took the box, holding it close to her chest. "You didn't have to do that, Lucas." As they sat at the dining table, Yvonne stood up, and Lucas's gaze lingered on her, his expression unreadable. His mother intervened, "Lucas, Yvonne... you remember her, don't you? She's here visiting her parents, and..." Lucas cut in, his voice polite but distant, "Please, sit down." The room fell silent, until Yvonne broke the ice with a sigh. "Lucas, how have you been? It's been over a decade since we last saw each other." Her smile was warm and genuine. Lucas's response was curt, his expression cold. "I've been well." Yvonne cleared her throat, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Are you as thrilled about the engagement as I am?" Lucas's reaction was sudden and intense; he choked on his drink, his eyes widening in shock. Yvonne quickly reached out to help him, trying to wipe away the spill, but Lucas stopped her, his hand grasping her arm. He took the wipe from her and stood up, his voice strained. "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom." With that, he left the room, leaving the women in an awkward silence. "Mom, what's wrong? Did I do something?" Yvonne asked, her expression tinged with sadness. "Oh, my dear child, Lucas is just going through a tough time. Give him space, and he'll come around," his mother reassured her, patting her shoulder. Lucas returned to the table, his silence palpable as he ate his meal. "I missed your cooking, Mom. You always make great meals," he said, his voice distant. His mother smiled, her eyes warm. "I'm glad you like it, dear. And don't worry, I had the maid prepare your room. You'll be staying with me tonight." Her tone was gentle but firm, leaving no room for refusal. Later, Lucas retreated to his room to work, but Yvonne appeared at his doorstep, her revealing nightwear making him drop his call. "Ah, Yvonne, do you need something?" he asked, his expression cautious. She smiled, her movements seductive as she approached him. "I don't need anything, Lucas. I just wanted to talk." Her voice was husky, her eyes sparkling with intent. Lucas raised an eyebrow, his hand scratching the back of his head. "Alright, I'm listening. What do you want to talk about?" His tone was measured, his eyes locked on hers, sensing the underlying tension between them. "I'm only concerned about us, Lucas. I remember our childhood, how we'd run around the house, playing games and laughing together. My dad always tells me stories about those carefree days. But now, everything feels so different. I wish we could go back to how things were, pick up where we left off." Yvonne's eyes sparkled with nostalgia as she wrapped her arms around Lucas from behind. But he quickly shrugged her off, his voice firm. "If there's nothing else to say, please leave." Yvonne tried to resist, but Lucas's tone brooked no argument. She slowly backed away, disappointment etched on her face, and left his room in silence.
