The Runaway Princess

Zander thought of the scent that he smelled in the hotel’s lobby when he was in Italy. He’s been haunted by the feeling when he smelled the scent and it’s driving him mad that he can’t focus on his work.   One day he decided to go back home after spending hours of staring at his computer in the council building. But when he entered the castle, he immediately heard screaming coming from the Queen’s office.   Zander was confused by it and when he saw his sister coming out of the kitchen with a bottle of beer in her hand. “Hey, what’s happening?” He asked. “Calie tried to leave the castle earlier, and she was caught by mom. And now they are having a screaming battle.” Zari told him.  “Where did she try to go?” “How would I know? I just heard them when they came in.” Zari said.   Then they saw Calie rush out of the office and run upstairs. “And there goes the drama,” Zander said, taking the bottle of beer from his sister.   Zari scoffed and walked away. Zander let out a sigh and went up to his room. When he got to his room, he immediately took a shower and get ready to bed. *********************************.    The next day, Zander was on his way out of their apartment when Zari grabbed him. “What the hell, Zarina?!” “Have you seen Calie?” She asked and Zander furrowed his eyebrows. “What? How would I? I just literally came out of my room.” He told her.   Then Zari heaved a deep sigh and rubbed her forehead. Zander noticed his sister’s agitated face. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked and then Zari looked at him. “Calie is missing.”   ******************************.   Zander and Zari spent the whole hour or so looking for Calie in the whole castle. Then they went out of the castle and went to the packhouse where they immediately saw Shanaia and Crane. “Why are you two here?” Shanaia asked. ‘Have you seen Calie?’ Zander asked them through the mind link. “No, and why are we speaking through mind link?” Crane asked. ‘Calie is missing.’ Zari told them.   Both Shanaia and Crane’s eyes widened. “How did that happen?” Crane asked. “I don’t know. I just woke up this morning and I cannot feel her presence in the castle.” Zari said, and Shanaia rubbed her forehead. “Where would she go?”  “That’s what I have been asking myself for hours,” Zari told her cousin. “I think we should split up. We all go to different directions that she could have teleported to.” Crane said and both Zari and Zander looked at him. “What did you say?” Zander asked. “That we should split up?” Crane responded. “No, what did you say last?” Zari asked. “Teleport?”   Crane said and Zander snapped his fingers. “She teleported out of the territory. That’s why none of us know that she was leaving.” Zari said and then Shanaia and Crane paled. “Oh god.”   **********************************.   The four of them kept quiet about Calie leaving and yet they still tried to look for her. But when they still haven’t found her the next day and she hasn’t returned to the castle, the four of them went to see the Queen and told her what happened.   When the Queen stood up and slammed her hands on her desk, the four of them flinched. “Why are you telling me this now?!” Queen Camilla snarled. “I’m sorry, your majesty. I thought we were able to bring her back in time but –“ “But you didn’t! Now my daughter is out there!” The Queen hissed, cutting off Zari. “Grandma, it is our entire fault not just my sister’s,” Zander said. “We all decided not to tell anyone,” Shanaia added. “We can tell the moment we knew but we didn’t. We are all in this.” Crane said.   Queen Camilla looked at her grandchildren and heaved a deep sigh before she sat back down. Then her eyes clouded as she mind linked the Zab and all available Elites.   A few minutes later, Zab marched into the Queen’s office together with Zack, Econ, Brex, and Macy. Zab was surprised to see her children with Shanaia and Crane there. “Okay, what’s going on? Why are they here?” Zab asked. “I want you to find Calie and bring her back here immediately.” The Queen ordered, and then Zab whipped her head towards her mother. “Calie is missing? Since when?” Zab asked, alarmed. “Ask you, children.”   Then Zab looked at her children. “Since when was she missing?” She asked and Zari lowered her head. “Since yesterday morning.” She answered and Zab’s eyes immediately changed their color.   “We tried to look for her, we searched every corner of the territory –“ “Then why didn’t you tell us?!” Zab snarled, cutting off Zander. “Did it ever occur to you that if she did leave, she would go as far as possible? The first thing you should’ve done was tell me or anyone! You should’ve let us adults deal with her!” “Now tell me if you have any idea where she could go?” The Queen asked and her four grandchildren shook their heads.   The Queen sighed and turned towards the Elites. “Go ahead and look for my daughter. Look for her everywhere and make sure she is safe.” The Queen said and the Elites bowed their heads and left.   Once they are gone, the Queen turned towards Zab. “Make sure you keep everything under wraps. I don’t want anyone to get a whiff of a necromancer wandering on her own.” The Queen said. “I understand.”   Zab said and then she gave the Queen a curt nod and then she glared at her children before she left the office. “As for the three of you, join the search.” “Three? But there are four of us.” Zari said and the Queen gave her a serious look. “I meant three. Zarina, you are not allowed to leave the territory, remember? So you stay here and let the three others do what they have to do.”    The Queen reminded and Zari’s shoulders sagged as she lowered her head. Zander looked at his sister and reached out for her hand and squeezed it. ********************************.    Ten hours after everyone was sent put, only Zander, Shanaia, and Crane came back. Zari was with the Queen all the while they waiting for any news about Calie. “Any news?” Zari asked them. “Nothing,” Zander answered and Zari let out a sigh.   The Queen then stood up from her chair and began pacing back and forth. When the office door opened, they all turned towards the door hoping it was Calie, but then it was Alpha Liam. “Why are you all here?” He asked, curious as to what was going on as he had just come from a two-day Alpha convention.   Queen Camilla was about to go to her husband when the door opened once again and Calie came in with Zab and the Elites. Seeing Calie safe and sound, made everyone sigh with relief. “You would never believe where we found her and what just happened,” Zab said and then the Queen rushed towards Calie and hugged her. “It doesn’t matter, I’m glad you are okay.” The Queen said.   Then Calie pulled away from her mother and she looked at her. “Mom, I found my mate.”
