Zander has graduated from college and decided to be a teacher. But somehow in his first year of teaching a local human high school in Queens, he quit immediately and went back home.
And when everyone learned that he was back, his cousins Shanaia and Crane came home as well from studying medicine at Harvard, and they helped Zari and Calie organized a small welcome get-together. Even his twin cousins from Russia came to welcome him.
“We are glad that you are back here,” Crane said.
“Why did you quit so fast anyway?” Seb, Crane’s younger brother asked.
Zander took a swig of his beer before he answers.
“I just realized that I am not ready to teach all those hormonal teenagers.”
“Why? Did they try to jump on you?” Zari joked and Zander groaned.
“Don’t remind me, please.”
“Don’t tell me it did happen?!” Shanaia exclaimed and when Zander nodded, everyone chuckled.
“Awww... My poor baby brother, you must be scared.” Zari teased and Zander rolled his eyes.
Then Zander looked at his twin cousins.
“So how were things in Russia?” He asked.
“Still the same, except that my sister is spending a lot of time with Elder Philip since she is teaching her with all the tactics and stuff,” Fiero said and it earned him a glare from his sister.
“Are you two not yet fully mated?” Shanaia asked and Lysandra looked down at her glass.
“Please tell me; at least he is your boyfriend,” Calie said.
Lysandra was sixteen when she found out that Elder Philip was her mate and that was also the time that she shifted for the first time. And even if she is past eighteen, they still aren’t a mated couple.
“He says we need to wait. And I am not entirely sure if you can call us boyfriend-girlfriend.” Lysandra said lowly, and the girls all turned towards her with a worried look.
“Wait? Why would you still need to wait? I get it that you are just past twenty, but Elder Philip is considered an Elder for a reason. He’s old! Why would he still need to wait?” Calie stressed.
“It’s because of our dad. He’s a bit you know overprotective about Lys.” Fiero said.
“I can’t believe uncle Lynox and uncle Lykos are old-fashioned,” Zari said.
Lysandra pursed her lips and drinks her beer.
“It makes me wonder how our parents would react when we find our mates,” Shanaia said.
“I just hope our mates will be good people,” Calie said solemnly.

Since Zander came back from Queens, he has been helping his mother with office work. He kept himself busy while his cousins went back to school, and went to missions, as ambassadors in place of the Queen.
He was continuing his training but his time it’s more intensive. He can now open portals with great distance, given that he knew the place. He has also mastered all his gifts including electrokinesis, sand manipulation, telekinesis, telepathy, and pyrokinesis.
His father also trains him with weapons, like what they are doing at the moment.
“That’s it for today,” Alex told his son as his sword disappeared from his hand.
Zander pants as his sword disappeared as well.
“I’m beat dad. How can you and mom and grandma train so hard every single day?” Zander asked as he slumped down on the ground.
Alex sat beside him and huffed.
“We’re used to it, and it’s better to be ready all the time,” Alex said.
Then Zab approached them.
Zander, do you have anything going on this weekend?” Zab asked.
“No, why?” Zander asked his mother.
“I need you to go to Milan, Italy for me. There are some things I want you to check on the hotel there.” Zab told him.
“Why don’t you go? I am still hung up with some paper works.”
“Your sister will take over that paper works. I just need you to check on the books there this weekend.”
“Ahh, fine.”
********************************.
Like how his mother told him to, Zander went to Milan to check on the hotel’s books. He came to Italy with Seb just so he can have someone to hang out with and Seb is just the guy.
And while Zander was busy working on the hotel’s office, Seb was twirling around the swivel chair with his head hanging at the back.
“Are you done yet?” Seb asked for the tenth time as he continued to twirl around.
“Now I am starting to regret taking you with me,” Zander said, still looking at the papers in his hand.
Then Seb got up from the swivel chair and walked towards Zander.
“I’m bored,” Seb whined.
Zander sighed and put the papers down before he looked at his cousin.
“Sebastian...” Zander trailed and Seb pouted.
Among his younger cousins, Seb is the most childish among them. And he is not the one to stay in one place and do nothing, thus his whining at the moment.
“Let me just finish this book and we’ll go out for gelato,” Zander told him.
Seb frowned and crossed his arms over his chest.
“I don’t want gelato. I want to explore the place. Can I go out now? I promise I won’t go far.” Seb plead.
Zander looked at him and then he heaved a deep sigh of defeat.
“Fine, but please remain within the kilometer radius.” He told his cousin who grinned widely.
“I promise. See you later.” Seb chirped and went out of the office.
Zander sighed and went back to work.
*************************************.
It took Zander two hours before he was finally done with work. He stood up from his chair and stretched his limbs. When a female employee came, he hands over the folders that he worked on.
“I have checked everything and sent the copy back to the main building. Just keep that in the records section.” He told the employee, who lowered her head.
“Yes, sir. Uhm, you managed to finish a weekend's worth of work so you still have time to explore.” The employee said.
“I am just used to not leaving any work,” Zander said and the female employee smiled.
“Sir, do you need me to make a reservation for your dinner?”
“No thanks. I’ll go out and look for my cousin, and probably eat out.” He said and then he grabbed his bag and bid the employee goodbye.
The female employee bowed her head as Zander went out of the office. While on his way to the elevator, he called Seb.
“Where are you?”
“In the plaza.”
He heard Seb say from the other line.
“I’ll come and get you and then we’ll have dinner.” He told him.
“You’re buying, right?”
“Yep.”
“Okay.”
When Zander hung up, the elevator door opened and he stepped inside and pressed the ground floor button. As the elevator took him down, he sent his mother a message telling her that his job there was done.
And then the elevator door opened and he stepped out immediately avoiding any contact with other people. But as he passes the reception area, he suddenly halted his steps when he smelled some burned cedar and citrus blossoms.
He felt his Lycan Achilles stir, the same time his heart hammers against his chest as he continued to locate where the scent was coming from. He looked around and then his nose led him out of the hotel. But once he was out, he was disappointed that the scent was gone.
He huffed and his shoulders sagged.
‘What was that?’ He asked his lycan.
‘No idea. But I like that scent. I want to smell it again.’ His Lycan, Achilles said.
‘Me too, me too.’
Then Zander looked down on his phone when he received a message from Seb, asking where he is. Zander shook his head and stuffed his phone into his pocket and made his way to the plaza where his cousin is waiting.
