Zab and Alex got shocked by the news of what happened to their father. Even Creon and the twins who have been on a mission in Russia rushed home. The news of the Alpha Lord’s death has shaken the family to the core, but what surprised and shook them more is the news that their little sister, Calina just brought him back to life.
So when their parents have finally come home, they insisted that he get properly checked. And once the examination is done, they all surround their father in his hospital bed.
The Queen who has been crying ever since they came back sat beside her mate on his bed.
“I am fine. You can stop crying.” Liam said.
“Fine? You died, Liam! How is that fine?” Camilla cried.
“But I am not dead anymore. So please stop crying.” He said and then he pulled his mate into his arms and consoles her.
The Queen buries her face into her mate’s chest and inhaled his scent.
“We are glad you are back dad,” Alex said.
“Yeah. You gave us a scare.” Lykos said, sounding really serious.
“We are not ready to lose anyone in the family,” Lynox added.
“It’s quite surprising to hear my mischievous twins sound so serious.”
“We can be serious dad, especially when it comes to our family,” Lykos said, and then he and Lynox suddenly burst into tears, and hugged each other.
Liam rolled his eyes at how dramatic his twins are. Creon who is Alpha Liam’s attending physician looked at the chart thoroughly before looking at his father.
“All the tests came back normal. It’s not like nothing happened at all.” Creon said.
“See? I am fine everyone.” Liam told them.
“But that doesn’t mean you are not staying here in the hospital. You are still under observation.” Zab pressed, making Alpha Liam frown.
While they are speaking to their parents, the kids are gathered in the room’s living room, playing some blocks. Zander was watching the adults and not paying attention to the blocks in front of him.
Then he turned to his older sister.
“What happened? Why was grandpa on that bed?” Zander asked.
Zari turned to her brother and smiled.
“Grandpa is being treated because he was hurt,” Zari answered.
“Why was he hurt?” Shanaia asked.
“He was hurt because of me.”
They turned towards their Aunt Calie who was almost just the same age as Zander. They are still not used to her white silvery hair instead of her usual dark hair. Calie was looking down at her hand and they can see her lower lips tremble.
“Calie, none of it was your fault,” Zari said.
“I-I don’t believe you...” Calie mumbled and then she got up and run out of the room.
Zari sighed and turned towards the younger kids.
“Stay here.” She told them and run after Calie.
Shanaia sighed and just pulled out her iPad and began playing on it while her brother Crane lay down on his sister’s lap and sleep. Seeing that the blocks don’t interest him, Zander stood up and followed his sister.
He used his nose to follow the trail of his sister’s scent. When he got out of the castle, he was confused that he somehow lost her trail. Zander pouted and began wandering around still looking for her. He saw some kids playing tag but when he tried to approach them and play with them, they just bowed their heads and left.
At a very young age, Zander has no concept of his position and title so he didn’t understand that those kids weren’t allowed to play with him because he is a prince. To him, everyone is all the same; it doesn’t matter if you are a shifter or a vampire. He would smile at everyone; greet them despite them always avoiding him. Zander pouted and just chose to sit under a huge oak tree.
He sat there to watch the residents walk passed him, kids run in a different direction when they saw him. Seeing them avoids him, hurts him and it made him continue pouting, and then he stood up and looked around. Then he snapped his fingers and a portal opened behind him and leaped into it.
Opening the portal is the first gift he ever developed and he has mastered it slightly. The portal has taken him towards the top of the mountain that is just behind the castle. He stood there and just look at the entire forest and the town nearby. Zander would always run there whenever he feels down and somehow the place is very calming for him.
He was peacefully watching his surroundings when he heard something approaching. When he turned around, he saw four burly men with scars all over their bodies. Rogues.
“What is t his little puppy doing here?” One of them asked.
Zander just looked at them without any trace of fear in his eyes. The rogues circled Zander as their teeth sharpened as well as their claws.
“A pup for lunch, what do you think about that?” One rogue asked.
“Sounds scrumptious.”
One rogue was about to claw Zander’s neck when they suddenly cannot move. The rogues all looked confused at what is happening. And when Zander looked at them, the boy has a sweet smile on his lips but his eyes were all black.
“What the –“
Before the rogue could finish his sentence, their bodies disintegrate into ashes and the wind blew them away.
“Such a stubborn demon. Sealed but still a troublemaker.”
A feminine voice said.
“I can’t let this boy be someone else’s lunch. That’s the best I can do in my situation.” Zander said, but his voice sounds different. It sounds more deep and feral.
Then Zander’s eyes turned back to normal, and he blinked twice and was confused as to why he suddenly felt blank.
“You are here again, young man.”
Zander turned around and saw the old woman whom he always sees in that place. His eye lit up and grinned, but he soon frowned.
“I was looking for my sister, but I lost her,” Zander told the old woman.
The old woman gave him a warm smile and stood beside him.
“Looking down at everything does make you feel better, but this place is dangerous for a little boy such as yourself.” The old woman said and then heaved a deep breath.
Zander then looked at the old woman.
“Grannie, what’s your name? And why are you always here?” He asked.
The old woman smiled down at him and patted his head.
“Let’s just say, I watch over everyone. You, my dear boy, caught my eye when I saw how much you love your sister.” The old woman told him, and then she cupped his plump cheek.
“You dear boy is destined for great things, just like your sister. But both of you will face a lot of challenges.” She said and it confuses Zander.
“I don’t understand.” He said, pouting.
“You will understand when you’re old enough, little prince.”
Zander looked at the old woman with a confused look. Then the old woman smiled and began to walk away until her figure fades along with the wind. Her exit never fazed Zander as he would see his grandmother does it.
“Zander!”
Zander was startled when he heard his father’s voice and he suddenly swooped down in front of him. Alex looked around as he can smell rogues on that spot, but when he finally made sure that the rogues are no longer there as their scents disappeared, he let out a sigh of relief. Then his huge black wings folded and disappeared on his back as he gets down on his one knee, and Zander run towards his father’s waiting arms.
“What are you doing here? Are you hurt? Did you encounter any rogues? Do you have any idea how worried your mother and I were when you disappeared from grandpa’s room?” Alex asked.
“Why?” He asked and then Alex looked at his son.
“What do you mean why? You could get hurt if you run off like this.” Alex answered.
“But I didn’t run off dad. I tried to follow Zari but she disappeared, and then no kids wanted to play with me, so I came here.” He told his father.
Alex heaved a deep sigh and carried his son in his arms as he stood up.
“It doesn’t matter; you cannot leave the castle premises without any escort. It’s dangerous. You are not yet strong enough to protect yourself.” Alex said and Zander pouted.
Zander felt really restricted. Tears welled around his little eyes, and seeing it, Alex felt bad. He pulled Zander closer to him and rubbed his back.
“Your mother and I love you, Zander, so much. We will be devastated if ever something happened to you or your sister, so please don’t make us worry. If you have someplace you want to go, please tell me or your mother.” Alex told his little boy, and Zander nodded and laid his head on his father’s shoulder.
“I love you, my boy. Always remember that.” Alex whispered as Zander yawned.
“Yes, daddy...” Zander mumbled and then he slowly fell asleep.
Alex sighed.
‘I found Zander, we’re on our way home.’ He told Zab through their mind link, and then his wings appeared and he flew out there to go home.
