( Logan's POV) The next few days have been hell. I looked with Eva's help for Tayla, with no luck. How was she hiding so well, and where? Eva and I have flagged any kind of purchase for an apartment or any living space available. I have looked into any area she's been in, but nothing. Ivy and Eva scolded me a bit for everything that's been happening with Brielle, but I know there is something off. First of all, her "doctor" disappeared right after he told her she was pregnant. Nobody knew where or who it was. All I could find was that she was two months along. Second, I know not everything is guaranteed to work as intended, but after three years, she comes out pregnant. None of this was making sense to me. After I got back that night, Walker told me that it was for the best, we were under attack by an enemy. We had no idea from what direction they would attack, but one thing for sure: they were looking for Tayla. I wasn't okay with that. Not only was she my mate, but she had a right to feel safe. Not be on the run every day of her life. One afternoon as I sat in front of the screens looking for Tayla, Eva came in. She looked stressed by something. "Still no luck." she said as she took a seat next to me. "Where the hell would she go, Eva? I've tried everything! There's nothing!" She took a deep sigh. "What are you going to do?" "What else? I'm bringing her home!" "What are you going to do with Brielle, Logan?" I need proof that she's lying. I can't just say she is without knowing for sure. "I just asked Tayla for time." "That's the problem. She's waited for too long. Three years too long!" "Save the lecture, and leave if you're not here to help me!" I played with the computer again, as she got to her feet, but stopped for a second. "She's like family to me. I'm trying to help her." As she walked away, one word clicked in my mind. Family. Where was Tayla's family? Would she even go back to them? I started the search. It didn't take long, her brother was on the front page of the newspaper. "The Young Entrepreneur takes charge of family Business." I looked through it, and I could see that he was doing well even if he was young. There was also a picture of him and a woman. My guess a girlfriend or something. I recognized her as one of Brielle's co-workers. She modeled but was also an up-coming photographer. I looked up where they were now, they had moved from the suburbs to into the city. I wrote it down and headed out. It was well below freezing outside. All I could think was how was Tayla doing? Was she okay? When I got to the area where Roman and his girlfriend lived, I saw them heading out. I followed the car, Roman dropped off his girlfriend at the modeling agency, then headed to the company. I drove behind him for a while, until he reached it. He parked his car in the underground parking lot. As he walked out, I could see clearly the family resemblance, except Roman was taller and had been well fed. Whereas Tayla was a little shorter and had just been getting back to a normal eating schedule. I parked my car, and soon followed Roman into the company. I looked around for a bit, until I got someone's attention. The receptionist was an older woman, but I could tell she was impressed by my presence. She tripped over herself a bit, but for the most part kept her cool. "C-can I help you?" "Yes, I came to talk to Mr. Nelson." "Oh, um..do you have..an appointment?" "I came at the last minute, so no." "Well, no one is..." "I won't take much of his time, I just need to speak with him." She blushed lightly, as she nodded, and made the call. I was soon making my way up to the office. I heard the woman say " If only I were a younger woman, dear lord." I had to grin, but once I arrived at the office, I knocked lightly and put my business face on. "Come in." I heard, and walked in. "You should really get a personal assistant," I commented, closing the door behind me. "He's out sick today. I can make do by myself for a day. Nice to meet you Mr..." "Call me Logan." I said, taking his offered hand and shaking it. He nodded and led the way to the sitting area. "What can I do for you, Mr. Logan?" he asked, taking a seat. I stood for a bit, and looked around. There were pictures of the family. There was one where the whole Nelson family was standing. Tayla is no older than three or so.Then there was one where it was just them and their father. "This is going to sound strange, Mr. Nelson, but I'm not going to beat around the bush about it. Have you seen your sister?" "My sister? I haven't seen my sister in five years. How would you know..." He got to his feet, but froze as he came to realize something. "What do you want with Tay, and who are you?" My wolf came to the front. Roman smelled of fear but he stood his ground. "You're one of those monsters," he said. His voice shook a bit, I finally took a seat. Showing him I meant no harm. "So you believe your sister to be a monster?" as I asked, I saw him flinch but shook his head. "She's my little sister. Tayla will always be my family...human or not!" "That wasn't my question. I said you consider her a monster, because of what she was turned into?" Roman composed himself, and looked at me. "I haven't seen her, not in five years. Is she in trouble?" I looked him in the eye, and he held it for a second but looked away. "Not exactly, but I am looking for her." "What do you mean, not exactly?!" I got to my feet, and pulled out my card, placing it on his coffee table. "Give me a call if she does reach out to you." "How do I know you're not going to hurt her when I do?" "Because if I were really trying to hurt her, you wouldn't be alive." I said, walking toward the door, opened it and walked out. For some reason, I felt reassured by this visit. He wouldn't give up his sister without a fight, even if he died in the attempt. As I stepped out in the cold, my worry from before was back. Baby doll, where are you? (Tayla's POV) As I sat in the restaurant/bar watching the cars driving through the snow, I couldn't help missing Ivy and Eva. It's only been a month, but it was hard. The good thing was that I was staying in a place away from them. There were two other places they had no idea about. I hated how money ruined my family, but Mom had left me quite a bit of it. Let's just say that I was set for life, but I didn't want to use it like that. I want to help others that like me had no where to turn to. "Look at you now." my thoughts ran. Now I was alone. Two of the girls I thought I was helping are now dead. One was kidnapped, and I had no clue where to look. I sat my mug of coffee down, and sighed. If I only had a clue. One clue. "Can I get a whisky on the rocks please?" My insides froze. I hadn't heard that voice in five years, but it hadn't changed much in that time. I slowly turned toward the bar, and I wanted to cry. There he was. My big brother. I observed him for a while, he had two glasses of whisky. He...looked so different. "Go talk to him." said my wolf, as I felt myself tremble. My brother and I had always been close. After our mother died, he made it his mission to protect me. From our father mostly, and Odette. Our father's mistress, who he brought to live with us just days after we buried our mother. She was also Arya's mother. I didn't get to say good bye before they took me to the lab. I have no idea what our father told him, but I had felt a little betrayed by my brother. Even when he was not at fault at all. I wiped my face, as tears slid down my cheeks. I got to my feet, and with shaking legs. I slowly went over to Roman. "Roman?" I said softly. He looked in the mirror and froze. "Tay?" he said, getting to his feet, and slowly turning to face me. He looked shocked. He lifted a shaking hand, and very slowly reached out to touch my cheek. I didn't wait. I jumped onto him and hugged him. "It's me you dork!" He hugged me back tightly. We stood there for a good while. Until he pulled me away, getting a better look at me. "s**t Tay, I...where..." He was all tongue tied but hugged me again. "Been a while." I finally teased. He laughed dryly but I could feel him nod. After a while, I took him to my table. He just stared for a bit, and was speechless. "Tayla...you look...like shit." I laughed, we were always blunt with one another. I nodded. "What happened? Where have you been?" he asked. "Dad didn't tell you?" "No, Dad closed off at the time you were taken away." "Oh, it's a very long story." He looked at me for a moment, and seemed to realize something. "So what I saw, the day they took you..." I let my wolf come to the front, and I felt him shrink away. "I thought I was going crazy." "You and me both, but unfortunately." "Yeah," he said, now obviously uncomfortable. That hurt, so to not make the situation worse, I got up from the table and grabbed my coat. "Well, it was nice to see you again, I'll see ya around." "Tay!" he said, but I kept walking toward the door, and just kept walking. (Logan's POV) A few hours after I got back, my phone rang. It was an unknown number. I answered it. "How did you know?" "Hello Mr. Nelson." "Cut the bull, how did you know my sister was...in need?" I sat there for a moment. The situation with Brielle was complicated, but I wasn't the kind to air my problems like that. If I didn't, Tayla might. "I screwed up, but Tayla is my mate." There was silence at the other end of the phone. "You're trying to force her..." "No, Nelson, its complicated. That's all I'm willing to share. I didn't mean to hurt her, but that's what happened." Again silence, his next question hit me hard. "Do you love her?" It was my turn to be silent, but there was nothing to think about. "More then I realized." Nelson sighed deeply. I heard as he sat back in a couch or chair. He was alone. "I found her, and I have an idea where she might be." "Where?" I asked, my heart racing. "I'm not saying, not until she's ready to talk to you herself." I growled softly, but I deserved that and understood. "Fine, I just want to know she's safe." "She's fine. Just give her room, and there shouldn't be a problem." "Fine." With that, I hung up, and just dropped back onto the bed. I felt exhausted but felt a little more at peace knowing she was okay. I haven't been able to sleep this past month, not having her near me was making me die slowly. A fitting punishment for how I hurt her.
