Today, Kai was posting the results of the auditions on a community bulletin board at the cafe entry, so Marina expected a crowd at the cafe.
Wearing a glittery red sweater and waving a list, Kai made her way across the dining patio. “The results are in.”
As her sister tacked the list on the board, Marina tried to peer over her shoulder, but Kai had a height advantage. She had been humming “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” all morning, and her soundtrack was still stuck on that tune.
“The decision was pretty close for some parts,” Kai said. “Who knew we had so many talented actors and singers in Summer Beach?” She stepped aside with a flourish. “Ta-da!”
Marina leaned in. There, by the part of poor overworked Bob Cratchit, was the name she dreaded.
