7 When Jack arrived at the Seabreeze Inn, Kai was passing out scripts to the new cast that had gathered in the ballroom. “Welcome, thespians,” Kai said. “Here’s our script for the holiday show. Once you’re seated, we’ll read through it so you can all mark your parts.” She handed one to Jack and another one to Leo. “Hey, Dad, let’s sit up front,” Leo said, scrambling to a chair on the front row. Jack eased into one beside him. He glanced around to see if Marina was there and nodded to Leilani and Roy, who’d helped him replant Ginger’s garden when Scout dug it up. Nan and Arthur were there from Antique Times, where he’d bought a kitchen table and chairs for his rental house near the beach. He smiled and waved at them.
