Noah's POV
I quickly shook off the feeling I had and placed the folder down on my desk. I took a deep breath and headed outside of my office to look for Logan. I was greeted by his smiling face when I opened the door. It caught me off guard but I was able to maintain my composure and the kid in front of me let out a little laugh. I glared at him and he immediately stops. I gestured for him to go inside and he did. I took a seat right on my office chair and he took a seat in front of me.
"So, what's your name and what would you like me to call you?" I started.
"Well, Dr. Burton, my name is Logan J. Wolff but you can call me Logan. I just graduated a few months ago. I am a BS Psychology graduate, and I did my internship at AB Hospital as a clinical research intern for Dr. Matthew Garcia." he smiled.
"So, everything you said was what I should call you?" I raised an eyebrow.
"No, I was just telling you more about my background, sir." he stammered.
The corner of my lip quirked up. I cleared my throat to stop myself from laughing.
"So if you already did your internship with AB Hospital, why did you choose this hospital? Why did you choose to answer my jobn post" I asked. "Were you not offered a job after your internship?"
"I was! I was even offered a secured place at the hospital. I just didn't want to continue working at the same place for so long. There's so much I could learn from different doctors. Especially you, sir." he explained.
"So you wanted to broaden your horizons, that's why you're here." I stated.
"Yes, sir." he smiled.
"What makes you think that someone like you would be perfect for this job?" I asked.
"Sir, I am very flexible and a quick learner. I can even work well without supervision as long as I am fully aware of what I'm supposed to do." he said, determined.
"I will give you a week to work for me. Think of it as a trial, both for our benefit. You will be paid half of the promised salary posted in the description. If I don't find you competent enough to work for me, you will be terminated. If the job is too much for you to handle, you are free to leave once the trial period is over." I said.
"That's a good idea. I know how busy you are given you are one of the best doctors in Psychology." he smiled.
"I know. I don't need fans working for me who will be musing over every single thing I do. I am also not your own doctor so do not dump your problems on me, unless the problem is work related. I don't want you bringing your personal problems to work, and you most certainly do not have to bring work problems into your personal life. Understand?" I said.
"I understand, sir. When can I start?" he asked.
He's an eager one. I wonder how Logan would be able to last throughout this one week trial period. He seems competent but I'm going to have to test that out for myself.
"Today. I will be seeing a lot of patients today, and I will be attending interviews later tonight." I stated.
"Yes, sir." he smiled.
"I need you with me most of the time. Since you are not officially hired yet, you will not be moving into the house with me. I get calls 24/7 and sometimes I have to somewhere sometimes. I want you to have your phone on at all times, because I will be calling you when I am also called for. You will be instructed on the spot and I expect that you flawlessly follow what is expected of you. I don't need a margin of error for this. I can't afford to give myself a margin of error." I said.
"I understand, sir." he said.
"Go grab a chair and be prepared for anything. Some patients can and will get violent sometimes, but not all the time. I will be providing you with everything that you need. Access to emails, and calls. Provide me with your work email and number so I would know how to reach you." I said.
"It's already included on the very last page of my resume. I assumed you would need it so I already included it there." he stated.
That's a little impressive if I'm being honest with myself. The majority of the applicants would be fumbling around in their bags and scrolling through their phones just to provide me with the basic information I would need. I took the folder with his resume in it and flipped to the very last page. It was typed in and not scribbled quickly as if someone outside had just told him to put his information in. I quickly took out my phone and registered his number and email in my account. I forwarded him everything he needed to know as my personal assistant/secretary.
Logan smiled at me and grabbed a chair outside and placed it at a spot in the room where he was not too close or too far away from me and my patients.
"Heads up. We're having a patient in 15 minutes. Browse through the things I've sent you and make sure you know everything." I instructed.
"Yes, sir." he said with a smile.
The way he just calls me sir. I shift uncomfortably on my seat and discreetly rearranged what was in my pants. It was constricting. Seriously? What the hell is happening? Have I not dated that long that I'm starting to think that I'm gay?
"Can you stop with the sir. Just call me Dr. Burton. Sir is making me feel... old." I glared.
"Yes, sir. I mean, Dr. Burton." he awkwardly said.
