"I-im sorry?" I'm just hearing things. It can't be real.  Jonas, my boss, laughs like he's about to secretly kill me when no one's looking. Forced and laced with disbelief. Jonas appeared behind the doors right before Abel could react to me mentioning his name. He didn't look the slightest surprised though. As if he had already expected it. I mean, he is already known nationwide.  Jonas extends an arm towards Abel's direction, clearing his throat once more and widening his eyes at me as if to prove a point. Also sending me a warning to keep my mouth shut or else. But is it wrong for me to actually want to know the whole story? I didn't just prepare all those reservations yesterday thinking it was a mere collaboration just to be conned like this. "Like I said. Sir Parker took the liberty of considerately taking this building off my hand. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Under his care, I'm sure it will become even more successful." I feel like I've been tricked this whole time. I'm his secretary. Shouldn't I at least been informed of this beforehand?  I nibble the bottom of my lip and nod my head slowly. Now that I've digested the situation in, it makes a whole lot of sense why Jonas' wearing a Hawaiian floral shirt. With the money used to buy the legal rights of this building, he's planning to give himself a luxurious vacation.  Not that I'm blaming him for wanting one. It's just that, Abel's now the owner of the building I'm working in. Which will make him my boss. Avoiding him will be inevitable since I'm his secretary. Unless of course, he decides to assign a new person to replace me or better yet, fire me. It's either of those two. Judging by the look he's been giving me throughout this whole time, nothing but neutral expressions , it doesn't seem like he remembers me. As expected.  I disappeared before the curse took affect, saving myself just in time. Had I stayed longer to witness it happen before my very own eyes, I don't think I would've handled it properly. "Well, will you look at the time. I best be on my way. Can't have my plane waiting on me." And with that, Jonas leaves the room. It takes my every will power not to follow Jonas out the door since I might snap Abel's patience towards me. Still avoiding eye contact, I begin fiddling my fingers while coming up with a way to get out of here alive. I'm left in an awkward situation with my new boss staring at me intently. I'm losing my job today right? After the behavior I showed moments ago, my fate's already settled.  "I apologize for how I acted earlier. That was clearly unprofessional of-" "Yeah, yeah." He cuts me off, making his way to the massive desk. Without sparing me a glance, he flickers a file open. "Bring in all the papers of the employees. Have them on my desk before today ends."  I want to ask why, but I know it isn't in my place to question his intentions. Who'd have thought he'd get to work immediately.  "Very well." With a slight bow, I take my leave and release the breath a didn't know I was holding the moment I close the door behind me. The heavy atmosphere inside made me feel light-headed, almost to the point of losing my composure. When I realized it was non other than Abel standing in front of me, I little something sparked in me hoping he'd still remember me. But that was just wishful thinking.  He hasn't changed at all. In appearance that is. He still has those black doe eyes that can lure anyone in and a face that can attract. The same since the last I've seen him. He dyed his hair back to silver though, raked back in a neat wave. All that together with the long sleeved shirt he wore, an aura of authority basically surrounds him.  From what mother told me, this curse is powerful enough to break the bond created by moon goddess herself since it was something established with equal agreement. The curse only affects the werewolf's side, leaving the other to bear the memories on their own. And once that happens, it's like their whole purpose in life resets. A new life. New memories. A new partner.  "Ms Miller, a-are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." Sarah approaches me with worry etched all over her face. My eyes have gone blank when I look up to acknowledge her presence, barely registering all that's she said.  A ghost uh? She isn't half wrong. Because to me, Abel's just a memory bound to permanently disappear. Even If I wanted to have him back in my life, our current positions won't allow it. How ironic. I feel like we're in a story written by a lousy author who's fresh out of ideas. Abel and I went from being inseparable friends who did everything together to becoming mere strangers who know nothing about each other. Just thinking about it makes me want to shove my head against the wall. I shake my head, dispersing this useless thoughts. I shouldn't be thinking this way. This is the decision I chose for myself six years ago.  Once I've reached the other side of the building, Sarah excuses herself and heads back to her station. I do the same and fetch the files wanted by Abel. As I'm stuck shoving all those stack of papers inside a box, the door to the room opens. I don't notice the new figure at all. Not until fingers find their way to my sides and wiggles. I let out a yelp, followed by the sounds of hardcover smacking the ground alongside Daron's laughter filling the room.  "You should have seen your face.” He pauses to say, eyes crinkling into two adorable moon crescents. " Surprise! Did you miss me?"  I give him a glare good for ten seconds before crouching down to pick the items. "Not really. What are you doing here? I thought you'd be back from that business meeting of yours next month."  "I got bored. So I took the quickest flight back. Need some help over there?"  "No, I'm good. But I feel like it won't take long before your father finds out you're not where you're suppose to be."  It's a repeated occurrence actually. His father makes him tag along that way he'd get used to the idea of running a company only to discover he's taken a plane back here. Due to our busy schedules, we've barely had time to meet up and properly catch up. Which is why moments when he can escape the eyes of his father, he comes to visit me. I appreciate the effort he puts in keeping our friendship going. Daron's father contributed for the success of this company, so ever since then, no one's surprised whenever he stops by. "It's not like he can disown me or anything. I'm the only one he's got." Daron sounds so unsure of his own words.  I've cleared the whole half of the cabinet and now all that's left are those sitting on upper portion. I let out a sigh, resolving to dragging a stool in front of me. Being short can be really unfair when you're live in a big world. At the process of grabbing the remaining files from the shelf, one of my heel sways way too far from the edge which causes me to lose balance.   Quick hands find both side of my hips and secures my posture back.  "That was a close call." Daron says with a laugh, bringing his body closer as a leverage for balance. I send hims a thankful and resume back to what I was doing. If he wasn't there, I sure would've met a very unfortunate demise. Probably would've given myself a twisted ankle or something. This is why I hate heels. I can't run with them or do normal tasks. Every time I return home, mother suffers from my constant rants regarding heels.  After a few minute, I'm carefully turning around and extending the files towards Daron. He takes them from my hands and places them on a near by table before helping me get down.  "There you go. Oh would you look at that? You're shorter." The teasing tone makes me roll my eyes. Just as I'm about to send him a remark, someone clears their throat. I peak beside Daron's shoulder only to have my eyes almost popping out from their sockets.  Abel's standing there with crossed arms. "Am I disturbing something?" He doesn't look happy.
