Two hours later "Take these out." "Fix the shelf." "Where's my coffee?" "Get me a new pen." "Send this to Sarah and have her finish it in thirty minutes." "I thought I told you to take the trash out." I've gritted my teeth way too many times today and I know for a fact that it's not a healthy thing to do. Unless of course, I'm planning to give myself an excuse to get braces in the near future, I'll have to force myself to atop right now. Clenching my fingers, I force myself to keep a professional posture and bow before exiting Abel's office. I consider that room a curse right now. Every time I step foot in there, nothing good comes out with me. An endless river of orders. Quick footsteps had echoed sharply around the crowded square, sounding overly loud in the ears. Like the booming heartbeat of a condemned prisoner. If you were able to pick up those rapid footsteps then congratulations. You had just earned yourself a front-row seat of witnessing me running around the building like a complete maniac. You've seen it in the cartoons when someone moves so fast all they leave is a blurred trail of color, right? Well, that's exactly how it was with Abel when had me doing all sorts of errands. For the past hour, I felt like my body had been split into ten given the amount of work that was thrown at me. I even fooled myself thinking I was flash from the pace I've been investing in the tasks. Now and then, Abel had called me to his office and assigned me something to do. This one different and much more ridiculous than the other. What's worse is that half of them had nothing to do with me. I'm a secretary for crying out loud. And believe me when I say this. If I wanted to cry and embarrass myself right now, I'd have done that already. The only thing keeping me from doing that is the fact that I'm too young to experience an awkward situation. Yes, I consider myself still young. When I signed that contract with this building, I agreed to do tasks that a secretary should do. I drag my fingers across the knots and curls of my hair and release a sigh, my eyes twitching with annoyance when I temporarily close it shut. The noise reverbing the hallway does nothing to make me feel any better. If anything, It only reminds me that I now have a boss who is way less considerate than the last.
