Capital City

Capital City Edelweiss forest spans miles away from the Capital City of the Evergreen main planet of the human race civilization. It is a verdant forest with a huge territory and the price of its land can be imagined, but the Alraym family bought it with no hesitation to have a place of their own that is near to the Capital City as it is convenient in dealing with their business, works and the Union matters. The root home of the Alrayms is a medium-sized planet rich in precious resources with an equally jaw dropping price. It is where some of the branch descendants and elders of the Alraym family stays. The mansion of the Alrayms inside the Edelweiss forest is positioned near a valley with the freshest air that could make one feel rejuvenated. There are no walls, but sensors are placed at every corner of the vicinity with their own accompanying security mechas that will only be powered on if there are any emergencies that could be fatal for the masters of the mansion. Madam Astir stood in the yard in front of the mansion. She is waiting for her husband, Klay Alraym, the Union leader that manages one of the four pillars of the Human race civilization. The four pillars of the Human race civilization refer to the Star Union, State Interstellar Law, Military Command and the Vern Royals. The Star Union, known as the Human Race Star Union in the Blue Moon galaxy is made up of the families, forces, institutions, and business magnates that could affect the standing of the civilization, whether it is the economy, peace and its prosperity. They are the external members of the Union that supports it, and the internal members are the government and officials of the entire civilization like the positioned leaders of each branch star planets. The Star Union also proceeds with the annual meetings between the four pillars of the civilization. It is really a pressure-filled responsibility to be the Union leader, but it is also an honor for the Alraym family to have their family head as the governing leader of the Union. Madam Astir absentmindedly watched the swaying leaves of the trees before a swift burst of wind appeared and disappeared in an instant along with a descending silver cosmic ship that landed a couple of meters in front of the Madam. The door of the cosmic ship is marked with the insignia of the Star Union of a star and a crescent moon intersecting with each other. The design is delicate and meticulous that it gives off a noble and respected air. The door of the cosmic ship opened and a tall handsome middle-aged man that sports a few similarities from his eyebrows to his nose with Kallum emerged from under the shadows of the ship. Madam Astir giddily waves her arm above her head and a sweet smile tugged up the edges of her lips at the sight of the man. “Honey…welcome home.” Klay warmly smiled at seeing his wife waiting for him outside their home. They have been married for decades and this routine never changed. He had never expected for the arranged marriage that his parents have forced him to agree would lead to something so sweet and warm that could make him feel so fulfilled and satisfied of his life. Klay quickly walked over to embrace his forever gorgeous wife. The husband and wife talked for a bit before proceeding to enter their mansion. At the door stood a butler wearing a perfectly tailored suit, with some of his hair already turning white from age. Although he only looked like an uncle in his fifties, he is already over 100 years old and has been serving the Alraym family when the head of the household is still Klay’s father who is now retired and living peacefully in their main house in the private planet of the Alrayms. “Greetings to Master and Madam, the dinner is already being prepared in the kitchen. The eldest young master and eldest young miss are chatting in the lounge area.” Madam Astir nodded before going inside with her husband to the lounge area. Alric and Kassia have arrived much earlier than their father, but they both took a short nap so Madam Astir wasn’t able to meet with them because she was on call with Viscount Drake about the time and meeting venue of the two families. It is her sudden and reckless decision, but Madam Astir still wants the best for her third son. This is why she did not want anything untoward to happen in terms of preparing for the marriage. Walking inside the intricately designed interior of the mansion’s lounge area, Astir and Klay saw their eldest son and their only daughter on their comfortable casual wears that is entirely different from their usual appearance as a director and most sought after lawyer. Alric and Kassia instantly noticed the arrival of their parents. “Mom, Dad…” The two warmly greeted their mother and father who took their seat on the sofa across them. Madam Astir nervously swiped her palms at the long sleeves of her dress while looking sneakily at the three. Klay helplessly smiled inside his heart while looking at his wife who still does not know how to hide her expressions in front of her family. Even though Klay is already aware of what’s bothering her, he still patiently waited for his wife to explain. Madam Astir pursed her lips before opening them as she root for herself. “I discussed an engagement for Kallum to the eldest daughter of Viscount Draecy.” Klay’s calm expression did not change which is entirely different from the shocked and incredulity in the face of Alric and even the usually stern Kassia’s pupils flashed in surprise. The two would have never guessed that after the problems brought by Cleo Martin’s ruthless move of breaking the engagement between her and Kallum, their mother would still look for someone to fill in as Kallum’s new fiancée. Alric is the first to express his displeasure after the shock subsided. “Mom, why do you have to decide on Kal’s engagement at this time? It has not even been a week since Cleo humiliated our family by breaking the engagement and letting it known throughout the entire star network.” Alric’s tone is slightly raised after once again feeling the disgust at the mention of Cleo. He had also been fooled by her sweet and pure appearance and even thought that she fits well with Kallum, but her true face appeared when Kallum suffered an unfortunate accident. A vicious and greedy person like Cleo disgusts Alric from the bottom of his heart. He is the heir of the Alraym family but due to him being obsessed with the engineering of mechas, the Alraym industries fell on Kallum’s shoulders, and it has always been a button of guilt for Alric. Alric treasured that little brother of his, but one movement from Cleo at Kallum’s lowest point triggered a series of events that further pushed Kallum in the heart of gossips across the star network that is full of disparage against him. The public relations team of the Alrayms has already forced a lid to the opened box discussion about Kallum and Cleo, but the star network’s system is too vast, spanning across the entire territory of the human civilization, so even with the Alraym’s pressure, there are still bits and pieces of the issue at some unknown forums in the network. Remembering the malicious words full of ill-intent about Kallum on the star network made Alric tighten his jaw in reflex. Madam Astir did not get offended by her eldest son’s rude tone. She understood his point and it was really her fault for deciding too quickly. “This matter of engagement with the Draecy’s; Kallum has already agreed to it.” “Viscount Draecy and I, has already agreed to meet two weeks from now in the capital city’s famous Ancestral Ridge Restaurant.” Alric and Kassia shared a look at each other. Their mother’s message is clear. The one in question about the engagement has already complied, so they can complain for how long they want but nothing will change. Klay amusedly watched his wife, son and daughter quieted down after reaching a tacit agreement all from his wife’s insistence. He stood up from his seat. “I’ll change out of my work clothes first. Just wait for me at the dining room.” At that, Klay strode out of the lounge area and ascended the stairs to go to the main bedroom at the end of the corridor of the second floor. Alric leaned powerlessly against the back of the sofa as he took in his mother’s triumphant gleam in her eyes. Kassia did not waste her time to bother with her mother and elder brother exchanging weird glares with each other as she checked the court files from her office in the State Interstellar Law at her quantum chip. The dinner was prepared quickly by the kitchen staff of the Alrayms, and the family of five aside from Kallum, sat around the marble round table of their spacious dining room filled with the fragrant and filling scent of the delicacies.
