31 We ate dinner and before Anjou prepared us some beds, it rained again. He’d quickly covered the area in the middle of the small clearing with some large leaves and I assumed he was planning on lighting a fire there. My skin felt refreshed, with the rain providing plenty of water to keep my skin from drying out too much. I guessed the heavy rain would be good for keeping me and my clothing reasonably clean. I tried to imagine what I would smell like after a few weeks in the jungle without any rain. It would be unbearable. But even with regular rain, I was sure we would need to remove our clothing and wash it now and then – and even wash ourselves in the river. Once the cleansing rain had stopped, Anjou gathered our water bags, which were nearly empty, and walked over to a nearby tree
