10. Be Cruel Lecturer

1051 Words
Emma Nathan's words sounded serious. I felt like he was warning me about something. "What's going on?" I asked. "Does this have anything to do with my car?" Nathan didn't answer. Instead, he got off his bike and walked to my door. "Come on in," Nathan said. I quickly took out the house key and opened it. Before I could get in, Nathan had already pulled the handle. He entered my house first. "Nathan!" I almost shouted. Luckily, I held back. This area is very quiet, and if there had been a sound, it would have been heard. I rushed into the house. Nathan wandered around my house. "You can't be here, Nathan. If anyone finds out, it's the end of me," I said. "I need to check something," Nathan said. Nathan didn't explain anything. He immediately went around the house like an investigator, looking for evidence. I followed Nathan. He was so serious. I wondered why he was like this. Nathan even entered my room without permission. "What are you doing!" I tried to stop Nathan from entering my room, but he ignored me. Nathan just walked in. I was frustrated by Nathan's rude behavior. "You shouldn't live alone, Mrs. Wilson." "Why? I don't have anyone here. You're not supposed to go into other people's rooms anyway. You're being presumptuous, Nathan." I understand he cares about me because of what happened to my car, but breaking into my personal space is intolerable. "Do you realize what happened, Mrs. Wilson?" Nathan asked as if challenging me. "I know, but what you're doing right now is disrespectful, Nathan. I'm your lecturer. Do you have any respect for me? Why did you come into my room without permission? We don't even know each other personally!" "Well, then what you did was justified?" Nathan snapped back at me in a louder voice. "Peeping at a teenager jacking off. Do you have a habit like that?" Is he accusing me of being a stalker? It was unbelievable. "Get out of my house!" I consciously shooed Nathan away. "Don't ever set foot in my house. You're only my student. I don't want to have any personal relationship with you!" I saw a look of anger on Nathan, but he didn't say anything to me. He simply walked away from my house. I let out a long sigh, struggling to breathe freely. Nathan was a problematic student, and I really hoped I would never have to deal with him again. My phone rang. I heard the sound of Nathan's motorcycle leaving my house, so I quickly picked up the phone. It was Luna who had called me. "Hi," I greeted. "Emma, am I home yet?" "Yeah, I'm home. Everything is fine. I'm going to bed now," I said. Luna sounded relieved. I felt so grateful that Luna was so worried about me. "Tomorrow, I'll take you to the police station. We have to find out who did that crazy thing, Emma." Luna was still furious. "Actually, I have some business tomorrow, Emma. I broke the university laptop. So, I have to replace it. Fortunately, a fellow lecturer is willing to help me." "Oh, you have a lot to take care of, Emma. But isn't your situation more important than the university laptop?" "No, Luna. I've only been working here for a few days. I have to take responsibility for my mistakes. I don't want to look incompetent." "Okay. Thank goodness Nathan drove you home. He's a bit of a brat. Yeah, that's normal for rich kids. But he's actually nice." I didn't want to respond to what she said about Nathan. To me, Nathan is a bold young man. He was teasing me, and now he was touching my privacy. "Okay, Luna. I want to sleep. Thank you for your concern. You are my best friend. Pass on my thanks to Barak. You guys are amazing. Good night." "Good night, Emma." I hung up and sat on the bed. It had been a long day, starting with the incident with Gwen and Nathan. I thought living in a new place would be calmer. Instead, I experienced more varied problems. I quickly took off my clothes. I changed into a tank top and shorts. My bedroom window was still open. The cold fork air made me unbearable. I quickly got up to close the window. I accidentally saw Nathan's room. His bedroom light was on. Was he already in the room? I suddenly felt guilty. I shouldn't have kicked him out. He helped me today. I thought it wouldn't hurt if I apologized tomorrow. Everything will pass with time. Nathan suddenly looked out the window. He and I accidentally looked at each other. He didn't say anything. Maybe he was angry with me. I should have reprimanded him, but I realized I'd gone too far. Nathan closed his room window rudely. I'm not surprised at his attitude; I closed my bedroom window, too. *** "I am sorry," I said to Nathan. We were now in the cafeteria, where the lecturers ate in the same place as the students. I queued up next to Nathan. "What?" Nathan was so nonchalant. "I was very emotional last night." I had to apologize even though I knew Nathan made a mistake. "Okay." Nathan replied shortly. He then walked over to the table, joining his friends. While I waited in line, I quickly turned around when I got my food. Suddenly, someone bumped into me, and the food I was carrying spilled and soiled my clothes. Everyone looked at me. This is really embarrassing. I looked up and saw Gwen smiling at me. "Sorry." Gwen walked away. I wanted to curse so badly, but my mouth felt locked. I had to clean up the food that fell on the floor. "Emma, what are you doing?" Barak saw me doing this embarrassing thing. I closed my eyes. "There was a little incident," I said. Barak immediately helped me up. He saw some students laughing at me. "Do you guys think this is funny?" Barak reprimanded the students. "You students are supposed to have good morals, but when a lecturer is in trouble, you keep quiet!" "Barak, no." I tried to whisper. "Is Mrs. Wilson your mistress, Professor Cornelius?" Gwen suddenly asked something so ruthless.
