Emma.
"Karma?" I saw Nathan's lips twitch. He smiled and laughed at me. "I don't believe in karma, Mrs. Wilson. Can't you just say thank you anyway? You almost got reported to the college committee. I saved your career."
This boy was arrogant, but I also had to admit he had helped me a few times.
"I didn't ask for your help, Nathan. I wouldn't be grateful if you helped me by demeaning another woman. Did you think about the emotional impact this would have on Gwen? She likes you."
"Then, did you think about the impact of breaking your laptop? It's a university laptop. Remember that you have to take care of the inventory of the place where you work."
"Oh my God!" I covered my mouth with both hands. "I forgot. I forgot that the laptop wasn't mine."
Nathan sighed. He then touched my hair, wiping it behind my ear.
"You're so hot when you panic, Mrs. Wilson," Nathan said.
I blushed at Nathan's words. It had been too long since anyone had said something sweet to me. Too bad it came from my student. I didn't want to get involved with anything illicit.
"Don't do that," I said.
"Why?" Nathan smiled. He lowered his head so that his face was right before mine. I wanted to back away, but Nathan grabbed my waist.
"Nathan," I looked around. I was afraid someone would see me and Nathan. I didn't want to get into trouble, but I had to remember my purpose for coming to Forks was to start a new life. "You're my student."
"So?"
Nathan pressed his lips to mine. I closed my eyes. Within seconds, Nathan was crushing my lips. I pushed Nathan away. This isn't right. What have I done?
"I have to go," I said, trying to escape.
"You want me, Mrs. Wilson. Don't pretend."
"No!"
"Yes, you are."
"I am not!"
I quickly took the broken laptop and my books with me. My heart was racing. What had I done? Why did I let Nathan kiss me? What if other people saw? This will be the end of my life.
I walked into the lecture hall. Some of the lecturers saw me carrying a broken laptop.
"What happened, Mrs. Wilson?" Professor Hudson approached me.
"Oh, there was a bit of an accident, Professor Hudson. I'm sorry. I'll replace this laptop. I promise," I said. I'm worried that I'm not being good stewards of my trust.
"Accident?" Professor Hudson approached me. He looked at me carefully. "Am I all right, Mrs. Wilson?"
"Yeah, I am fine. It's just that the laptop is broken because it fell on the floor."
"Oh, don't worry about the laptop. I have some stock laptops at home. If you want to replace it, you can pick it up at my house."
"You don't have to, Professor Hudson. I feel bad about it."
"Don't feel bad, Mrs. Wilson. I have quite a lot of laptops. I don't mind at all."
I felt fortunate to have such a good coworker. Professor Hudson was so considerate of me. Even though I have to deal with annoying students like Gwen and Nathan, at least there are still good ones.
"Thank you, Professor Hudson. I don't know how to repay you."
Professor Hudson touched my shoulder and rubbed it gently.
"It's fine. Do you have any plans today? If not, you can pick it up at my house tonight."
"Oh, I'm sorry, but I have to take care of some things. I'll come over on Saturday night. I don't have any plans at that time."
"Oh, that's a good choice. Saturday night. I'll send you my address. Come without hesitation."
"Okay, Professor Hudson. Thank you very much."
I went to my desk to write the report. Although there were a few problems, everything went smoothly. I held my cheeks for a while. I suddenly remembered Nathan's lips, which landed perfectly on mine. I closed my eyes, and the image of Nathan m**********g came to mind.
"s**t!" I cursed. It just so happened that Barak passed in front of me. I was so embarrassed.
"What's wrong, Emma?" Barak asked me.
"Ouh, nothing. I just thought of something a little."
"Thought of something?" Barak smiled. "Something that made you close your eyes."
I glared at Barak. We were on campus. He was my boss. I didn't want to appear to have a special relationship with him.
"I have to work, Barak."
"Okay. I won't bother you. I just wanted to let you know that Luna wants you to have dinner at home. You should come."
I smiled. I could never refuse my best friends' invitations.
"Okay. I'll come, but I have to go downtown first. I have some things to do."
"What is that?"
"Something personal," I replied.
"Okay. I won't ask any further questions. Enjoy your job."

After my work was done, I headed to downtown Forks as planned. I went to the bookstore to find some references for teaching. I also bought my daily necessities at the supermarket. These are just everyday things that a lone woman would do.
After my activities, I planned to go straight to Luna's house. I wanted to help her before dinner. But in the middle of the trip, my car suddenly broke down while passing through the pine trees. I felt nothing was wrong with my car because I had always maintained it well. The gasoline was still enough for the next few days.
"What's going on?" I muttered. I quickly got out of the car. I didn't know what to do, but from the hood, I saw smoke.
I panicked. Moreover, I don't know anything about car engines. I'm blind to things like this. I quickly grabbed my phone. I told Luna about this incident.
"You'll have to wait a bit, Emma. I'll send a mechanic over there."
"Okay. I'll wait," I said.
I hung up the phone. Now, I didn't know what to do. The sun had started to set. I was alone on this road.
I quickly opened the car door. The best option was to wait in the car. At least it was safer.
From the south, I saw the light of a passing motorcycle. I squinted my eyes. The bike passed by just like that. It didn't care about me being there, but it returned to my car a few moments later. It even stopped near my car.
"Mrs. Wilson?"
I can't believe this. Of all the people I have to meet. Why do I have to meet her?
"Nathan Smith," I muttered.
