Third person's POV Five years ago The sun has not even risen yet. The sound of the alarm clock on her night table wakes Quincy up. She stretches her arms up. She jumps out of bed. Went to the bathroom to do her things. This is the first day of her training at the pack. Like all werewolves who are twelve, they begin the training. After putting on her top and cotton shorts, she went downstairs carrying her rubber shoes. She went out to the front door, sat on the porch to put on her shoes. As she finishes tying her shoes, her friend emerges from the left side of the house. Emily, Heather, and Alicia walked towards her. She waved at them. "Hey!" I said. I stood up and met them halfway. We walked towards the training ground where the rest of the kids were already waiting. We fall in line like the rest. Soon the beta stood in the front and addressed all of us. "Good morning." Beta Paul greeted us. "As you all know, all of your kids are starting your training." He looked at us. Scanning the line up of kids. "You all start by building up your stamina. You will run 5 miles around the pack training ground." He pointed to the surrounding area. "And you have to finish it in an hour." He paced back and forth. "On your mark," he started, and we all prepared to make a comfortable running position. "GO!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We've got the 5-mile run. We dropped our bodies flat on the grass. "Holy $h!7" cursed Emily. Catching her breath. "How many times do we have to do this again? Alicia lifted her body from the ground and crossed her legs, "I believe they say it will be 5 days a week." "Eh! 5days!" Screamed Emily. "I hope my fat gets burned fast by this training," she said, squeezing her fat. We all laughed at her comment. "Hey, guys have you heard?" Heather said, crawling to whisper at us. "I heard tonight is Alpha Troy's son's birthday", she whispered. Our eyes went wide. "Really!?" we whispered back. She nodded and continued, " They invited everyone to celebrate with them." "But why?" I asked. Heather sits straight, "apparently, the alpha and luna are hoping that their son can find his mate tonight." "Oh that's right," it was Alicia, "it's his fifteenth birthday." "You mean he can smell his mate tonight?!" Emily wiggled. "That's right. So, do you all wanna go?" she asked us. "Hell yeah!" We all said and laughed together. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Caleb's POV He is sitting at the edge of his bed. His legs wouldn't stay still. He clutches his hands in his lap. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. But the feeling of uneasiness is still there. He stood up and started walking back and forth in his room. "Why?" he asked himself. "What is this feeling?" He felt nervous, unease about something. It's like telling him that something will happen. That something will reveal itself tonight. He looks at the gathering on the ground from his window. Then suddenly, it hits him. This emotion, this feeling that he had been getting since this morning, "No, no" he shook his head. "I want to choose my mate." he put his palm on the window glass. "I will not let this mate bond dictate who I love and choose." After realizing that he will meet his mate tonight, he becomes more agitated. "Don't come, don't show yourself," stomping his feet on the floor. "I don't want to meet you, mate." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quincy's POV "Mom, I'll be going to the packhouse with my friends," she said as soon as she landed on the top of the stairs. Her parents looked at her, "You're all gonna attend the alpha's son's birthday? "Yes," I answered. "Won't you be going too?" I wondered. It was my father who answered me, "No, we'd rather stay at home." My mom kissed my forehead after she eyed my outfit. "Enjoy the party, sweetie, but don't drink any alcohol, okay?" She warned me. I smiled at her and said, "I will mom." And that's when I heard Heather's voice calling for me. "Well, I will be going then." I kissed them both on their chicks and then went out of the house. Outside are my friends waiting. We all four decided to wear ripped jeans we just bought last week. Alicia is wearing a pink sleeveless blouse. Ems is wearing a brown turtle neck sweater. Heather is wearing a tube blouse. While I am wearing a yellow round neck T-shirt that I tucked inside my jeans. Among the four of us, Heather is the one who is more confident about what she wears and how it should be worn. I think she is the prettiest girl in the pack. And she's one of my friends, and it makes me conceited and proud to have her, well, all of them, as my friends. "Ready for the party girls?!," it was Alicia. "Yeah!" We all said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quincy's POV The pack prepares lots of food and drinks. As it is the birthday of their alpha's son, they are all for the pack members to enjoy the night. "Good evening everyone!" Alpha Troy welcomed everyone. "Tonight we celebrate the fifteen birthday of our son," he then looked at his son, "Caleb". He motioned him to come up the stage and he did. The whole place was full of young unmated werewolves when our group arrived. The only place available is near the back. So we decided to sit there. As we walk towards the only vacant table, my heart suddenly aches, it makes my eyes want to search for something. Like something is out there waiting for me. Then my head faces towards the stage where my alpha is standing. But someone is with him. A boy, near as tall as the alpha. Who is he, I wonder? Then our eyes met. She saw his eyes grow. As if recognizing something. But it's only a moment. He looks at the alpha again like he wants to forget about meeting my eyes. "My son Caleb for his fifteen birthday!" Alpha Troy said. He motioned his son to say something. Caleb steps forward on the stage. "Members of the Moonridge Pack! Thank you for coming tonight! Enjoy the celebration!" He exclaimed. The crowd shouted in joy. Others shouted their congratulations. "Happy birthday Caleb!!!" Our group shouted and we got all their attention. We giggle afterward. Again our eyes met. There's something in his eyes. Something like a disappointment. Disgust. Rejection. Could it be? Is he? I wonder. But why is he looking at me like that? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
