Chapter 2 Arrangement

His Plans for Her

What will become of Lydia when am gone? Who can l trust to care for her? l need to make arrangements for her safety, my friend and beta of the pack when I become the Alpha of the pack is also going with me for the training, and Andy is the only one that would have been best for this assignment. He is the only one I trust among my so-called friends who were friends with me because my father was the alpha of the pack.

That spoilt brat who has been trying to get under my pants for some time with the pretense of friendship thinks I am a fool and not aware of what she is trying to do. I have tried on several occasions to put her in her place and make her know she is not my type of woman and that can not with someone like her. I believe in getting my mate because the mood goddess can not mate me with someone that is not worth being my Luna. But Maria is arrogant and self-centred, and also full of herself. I have my mother that is also a pain in the ass too who I am still trying to figure out how I can get along with so I why would I want to be involved with someone like her who I know will add to my problems.

I need to be careful around Maria because she is a seductress who only thinks of herself and no one else. There was one time she came to me and was pressuring me to take her out for a date and I decline her offer but she was very persistent until I took her to a restaurant not far away from my house so I can leave never she go out of hands.

When we got there I sat on a seat that was not too close to her but she was not pleased, she tries to get a bit closer again and I warned her I will leave if she does not stay in the seat as I arranged it.

"See Maria I only decided to come here with you just to make you happy but you seem not to like it? If you do not behave maturely I will just forget about keeping my promise and leave this instant.

" Jake why are being mean to me, you know, I like you and would love for us to make this official since our parents are friends they will be happy about this, and our pups will be strong given our bloodline

I just can not believe what she just said. Did she just make a pass at me? Maybe I need to hear her again.

" What did you just say? I seem not to understand what you said.? Can you please come again"

"Jake I said I want to be your Luna, I want to rule alongside you, you know that is the logical thing to do because our parents are friends and everyone in the pack is talking about it." She stupidly repeated herself.

I sat there in anger looking at her and her stupidity. is this girl for real, Is she now the moon goddess who decides who and who is supposed to be her mate?

"Are you for real? So you are now the moon goddess who chose mates now? Well for your information I believe in doing things the right way, so I am waiting for my mate because I am not picking any random girl, so I will advise you to wait for your mate too. I have lost my appetite and this place is suffocating me." I say to her as I stood up and left her sitting there in surprise.

After I reflected on that incident I decided to go to my mother to discuss Lydia's safety with my mother.

I don't even trust my mother to take care of her because she has made it clear she does not want me mixing with the lowest member of our pack. What do l do? Jake keeps thinking of a way out while pacing from one place to another in his room. My father would have been the best person to rely on for this but he has a very busy schedule and I can not depend on him. I will just tell him so that he too can help me out of this but I think the best person for this is no one, other than my mother. But can she be trusted?

l guess l have no option but to beg her to take care of her. He concluded in his heart.

He rush down the staircase and started calling out to his mother.

" Mom," No response

" Mom," Still no response

"Where could she be now? Jake wonders as he went into his mother's bedroom in search of her, she is not in her room too

"Mom Mom Mom where are you? I need to ask you for a favor." Jake called out while coming down the stairs in search of his mother.

"Why are you shouting, I am over here son, I am in the kitchen, what can l do for you my son?" Luna asked while she continues with the cookies she decided to prepare for her because of his journey to the training ground.

"What are you doing in the kitchen Mum? Where are the maids? It is very strange seeing you in the kitchen. What is this delicious smell coming out of the kitchen?" Jake said while sniffing the air and looking around to see what was cooking.

"What do you mean by what I am doing in the kitchen? Remember this happens to be one of my offices and I decided to prepare some cookies for my son, who happens to be taking a new step in the right direction. I do not need any maids to help to prepare something delicious for my son so I assigned them other duties." Luna explains to her son with pride because she has been looking forward to this for a very long time. It is a pride for every wolf to know that their pup will one day rule the pack.

"Hmmm, I can see that my mother is trying to impress me and I am proud of her," Jake says while giving her a hug

" Who else would I impress if not my handsome son whom I am very proud of. So why all this shouting and calling out to me? Do you need anything?" Luna asked Jake who has been thinking of a way of telling her his reason for calling out to her.

" My sweet mother, who I love some much and admire, I need to ask you for a favour please just promise me, you will help me out with it because it is important to me that you promise to help me?" Jake says to her

"Son all you have to do is just say the words and I will do it just the way you want it," She said out of joy without waiting to hear him out. She thought it has something to do with his journey.

"Mother I want you to help me take care of a special friend of mine and I will be happy if you help me out, she is someone I don't want to lose her friendship with," Jake says pleading with mother for understanding.

"Son you know I will do anything for you, you know you are special to me and I am ready to satisfy you. Who is this special person you speak so highly of?" She asked him while waiting for his reply.

" Mother, her name is Lydia, she Is the daughter of Mr. Blake and before you start condemning her, please hear me out first? Jake says to his mother while holding her hands and looking at her with a puppy face.

" Who is Mr. Blake in this pack? Are they among the nobles? Where are they staying in the pack? And why this interest in her?" she ask and waited for her son to give her a reply

"No, her parents are not among the nobles, they lived by the house down the riverbank. They are a friendly family too." He says to his mother because he knows how she was going to react to it. She has never been a good Luna to the people of the pack and as such, she doesn't know most of her subjects

" Jake! I can not promise you anything because you know my opinion about people like them and I have warned you on several occasions not to associate with people like that. They are not in our league as such I can not promise anything now" She said angrily to her son while glaring at him.

" Mother before you start condemning my friendship with her, I want you to know that she is a good person and not a gold digger like the others who flaunt themselves around me like bees chasing after honey," Jake says trying to convince her mother that Lydia has an amiable character.

" Please mom you need to study her, just give her a place in your heart to see the good in her and she is going to be very useful to this pack too." He further explains to his mother trying to make her understand.

" Jake why do you want me to make angry with you this morning, you know l will not approve of that kind of relationship, they are beneath us and this will bring shame to our name being the Luna and the son of the Alpha of this pack, do you know what the title Alpha means? Do you want to make me a laughing stock among my pairs?" She said showing her displeasure with the relationship her son had with Lydia. She doesn't seem to understand why her son like to associate with people like that.

" Mom, no one is going to mock you when they get to know Lydia, you are going to hold your head high in society when you come to know her. Please can you just do this for me Mom? She is a nice girl and full of courage, you will like her when you see her and get to know her because there is one more suitable to be with than her. She is more than what everyone around her sees. She is a very gifted person mom and I promise you are going to like her when you get to know her." He says trying to convince his mother. He kept quiet to see how his mother was going to react to his explanation seeing that she was still not ready to accept her he continues.

" Moreso l will not be able to concentrate on the training if I am not sure that she is being cared for properly. I will not be complete without her and l might even die if she leaves me because she has become a part of me, mother." Jake expresses his feelings to his mother in other to convince her to understand him.

Luna use her hands to cover his mouth to prevent him from speaking further. She could not bear to hear her son speak of death.

"What are you saying? Will you shut up and stop saying such stupid things? Is she the only one in this pack that you have to pick her? Jake, there are more beautiful wolves around that you can mate with, so why her? Moreover, she is still young and I hope you have not been doing something funny with her? I would not want any of that Jake. I can not promise you anything yet but I will try my best to look out for her safety."

She said with anger showing all over her. How can her son who is going to rule this pack speak like this, she thought to herself

"Mummy! What is this that you are saying? So you don't trust me? We are only friends and there is no intimate relationship between us. She is just my friend and that is all there is to it. I just like her because she is talented and more mature than those other she-wolves you speak of" Jake was shocked to hear his mother saying that to him. Only if she knew who she was, but he promised to keep her secret and that is what he was going to do.

The Luna seeing that there is nothing she can say to change his mind pretends to agree with him.

"You mean you are just friends, with her? Son, I do trust you but I just want to be sure and I am going to take care of her since she is that important to you, you have nothing to worry about her welfare, I will take good care of her, I promise,"

" Yes! Yes! Oh! Thanks so much, mum. l knew l can count on you and I know you will not disappoint me like you have promised not to, you are the best, mom," Jake said and gives his mother a peck on the cheek.

" You know, I will do anything for you son, have you gotten everything you need for the journey, let me know if you still need something else for the trip so that I can get them for you before you leave." His mother asked him, changing the topic of discussion.

"Mom you have given me more than enough and I do not know how I am going to carry everything as my bags are all packed full already. So nothing is lacking at all. That is why you are the best mom in the world whom I love so much and care about too."Jake says as he puts his hand on his mother's shoulder while laughing happily and giving her a peck on her cheek and looking at her with a happy face that was priceless.

"You know I will not be there with you, that is why I have to ensure you have the best and all the things I know that are important to you." Explains his mother.

" Mom, I am so grateful to you for all you have gotten for me, and thanks for your love. Now l let me go and complete the packing for the trip. I will miss you a lot, mom." Said Jake as he stood up to go to his room.

He did not see the look his mother was throwing at him with scorn.

" I will see if you are going to die if l send her out of this pack before your return from your training. I don't what you see in that low life of a girl that you are so attached to her and of all the girls in this pack, you went to pick that dirty rag of a thing. What nonsense, that spoilt brat. Does she think she can trap my son? Let's wait and se.? " I better start putting my plans in place to eliminate that trash from this pack before he comes back. This will teach the other low lives not to mess with me or even come close to my son as I want the best for my son, I will make sure he marries the daughter of an ALPHA. THIS I PROMISE MYSELF."

Jake decided to inform his father too, so he heads for the pack office where he knew his father would be busy working.

" Hello dad, how has the day been going? Hope work is not too tedious for you dad.

" Son, how are you today? Where have you been? I have not seen you today. The work is not too much and my day has been fine. What is up son? Hope you are all set for the training and that everything you need for the journey is all ready for you." The Alpha smiled as he saw his son walks in

"Am all set and trust mom, she has provided me with everything that I need. I came to see you for something very important. I need you to do me a favour, you see there is this friend of mine who is special to me that I would love it if you can help me take care of her while being away. He explains to his father

"What do you want me to do in particular for you, this must be very important making you leave everything to come and look for me knowing how busy I am today." Alpha said to Jake

"It is important, dad, there is someone I would love you to take care of, for me while am away dad and since Andy is going with me for the training there is no one else I trust but you dad" He explain while observing to see if his father was going to oppose him too

" You how my schedule are? I Am always busy but not to worry I will see how I can help you out with this. Who is this person? Do I know that person? Is it a he or she? What exactly is the help you want me to render to this person? I hope it is not something serious.

" I have told you about her before, she is Lydia and she is very special to me and she can be useful to this pack in the future," He said to him

"Hmmm! I remember but her parents are here in the pack? So what exactly do you want me to do for you." His father said like the true Alpha he was who knew everyone in the pack

" Father I have always been the one helping her financially because her parents are not financially okay, so I want you to support her while am away and to ensure she is well-taken care of. The daughter of your Beta has been making life difficult for her and I will need you to help me put a stop to it." He said.

" I will see how I can do that, I will ensure your mother see to that and make sure no harm comes to her. Is that okay with you or is there anything else you wish me to do for you? As for Maria, I will speak to her so that she will stop all the nonsense she is doing to her.

" Yes that should do. Thanks, dad. I need to go see her now. See you later dad and I love you, dad." Ha said as he stood up to leave his father alone to do his work.

"Love you too son and do not stay out for too long." His father said to him with pride in his eyes.

Jake leaves his dad because he knows he just made out time to attend to him being his son, he is a busy man and that is why he left when his father gave his consent to help. He knew he could rely on his father's support and was happy he did not disappoint him but he does not trust that his mother will keep her promise to him.
