Olvia's Castle,
Land of The Black Wolves
“You can't beat me, Olv!”
“I just let you win this time, Drav. You have been defeated several times, and it's only okay for me to lost once from you.”
“Hey! That's not fair. I told you not to do that! Olv!”
“You're tricking me again!”
“It's really nice taking a deep breath for a while in this plateau. Don't you agree, Drav?”
“Do you think I'll buy your trick, Olv? What's the next trick hiding up on your sleeve — now? Tell me?”
“Why don't you calm yourself and lie down beside me, Drav? We've been best friends for eighteen years. I know you more than anything else.”
“The hell I care. Did I even accept you as my friend?”
“I guess so. Maybe.”
“Whatever.”
After recalling the memories he had with his childhood best friend, Drav and the mistakes he did for killing Oldra, the prince of Oldravia, Olv could not believe that because of jealousy, he killed the rulers of the once peaceful land of Oldravia.
“Where have you been all along, Adolfo?” his father Olv's asks him as soon as he found him entering the castle together with Geisha, his best friend. “You can leave now, Geisha. I have something to talk about with my son.”
“Yes, my king,” Geisha lowered his head and took a peep on Adolfo and sheepishly grin.
“Adolfo!” the seven years old returned his gaze on his father, the king of Black Wolves.
“Yes, father?” he was trying to change what he has in mind, but he saw that his father was looking at him seriously.
“Where have you been this past few days? Why am I not seeing you practicing outside the castle?” he asks without turning his stares on other things.
“Father, stop staring at me like that. You know that I am vulnerable whenever you stare at me like that. Stop acting like you are a strict king in front of me. Will you?” he tried to play with his staring stare.
Olv was doing his best not to laugh. But when his son Adolfo played with his game, he gave up.
“Fine. You won!” he said and smiled at him then walks towards Adolfo, but his son suddenly run and jumps towards him.
“I told you. I knew it. You are just pretending to be strict when I am in front of other people. I love you, father,” Adolfo kisses his father's cheeks while the latter embraces him tight.
“I know. But, you have to learn how to be strict, Adolfo. Whether you like it or not, you will soon accept the position of the next king of Olvia,” Olv changed his mood into a serious one. Adolfo steps down from cuddling with his father.
“But, you know father that I am not interested in that king's throne. I am certain that you will live longer. And I claim it!”
Olv smiled at his son. The happy-go-lucky Adolfo is always positive when it comes to his longevity. He knew from the day he was born that he doesn't want anything, particularly the throne that soon to be entrusted to him. At his age of seven, he doesn't know yet the importance of becoming the next king. He will wait for the right time when he reached the exact age, and he will tell everything about his destined fate as what Oldra has cursed.
“Oldravia will cease to exist. Olvia will become the land of black wolves, while Dravia will be the land of brown-red wolves. In the name of the king and queen Drav killed, I cursed his only child to be betrothed to your only child. Only then, the land of Olvia and Dravia will be reunited as one Oldravia.”
“How about if I tell you a story of how this land became a separate one from Dravia?” Olv changed his topic and Adolfo seems interested.
“Dravia? Why I haven't heard that?” he curiously asks then guided him towards the veranda of the castle where both can see the River of Avia.
“Do you know that valley over there?” Olv was pointing at the river, and Adolfo's eyes followed to where his father's finger was pointing to.
“That's the River of Avia, right? Are you saying about the land on the other side of the river?” Adolfo was able to pick the answer from his question.
“Correct. That land is called Dravia,” he answered, then saw Adolfo's head nodded. “The land of Olvia and Dravia was once called Oldravia.”
“Wow. Can you tell me more about the story, father?” Adolfo is now all ears ready to listen to his father when both heard the door open and saw Geisha.
“What are you doing here, Geisha? I thought you already live?” Adolfo was hiding his laugh because he saw his best friend fell down on the floor.
“Well, I heard your father is going to tell you a story. I love listening to stories. Can I also listen, Uncle?” Geisha is giving Olv's a puppy eyes, while Adolfo is giving him a deathly glare, showing the horizontal line on his forehead.
“All right. Come here, Geisha. Stand here on the other side, and I'll start my story,” Olv invited him to stand beside him while Adolfo keep's staring at him with disgusto. “I'll start. You two, listen prudently.”
…
Dravia's Castle,
In The Land of Dravia
“You ungrateful, stubborn, hotheaded wolf!”
Drav was angry, and he keeps on hitting his son Ergon with his one pointed claw. He even slaps him several times.
“Please, my king. Forgive Ergon. He's still young, and he doesn't know a thing of your rules in the kingdom,” Ergon's servant, Hesa was hugging him while she receives the punishment on behalf of her beloved master.
“He is not young anymore, Hesa. Stop protecting him!” Drav stops punishing both of them, but he was mad as hell. “Leave. Leave my room at once!”
Hesa pulled out Ergon from his father's eyes and get out as ordered. When they are out from his room, Hesa checked Ergon's wounds, but the stubborn one ignored her. Hesa couldn't even see any drop of tears from his eyes. He was one brave child.
“Ergon! Where are you going?” she called his name when he saw him walking away from her sight.
“Do not follow me, Hesa!” he replied and started running away from her and out of the castle.
Ergon continued running. With his speed, he found himself stopping in front of the old oak tree where he usually hides atop the tree. He jumped an sit on his usual spot. There, on the treetop, he embraces his knees and silently cried.
Ever since he was born, Ergon never felt the love he was longing for from his father. He grew up under the care of his servant Hesa. Hesa valued him and took care of him. Whenever he made mistakes, Hesa was there to receive the punishment. Although, he was unreasonable sometimes to her, deep inside he cared for her. He always cries in silent. Just like what his father did to him earlier, he did not cry.
“I hate you father. I hate you!”
He shouted at the top of his lungs. He was the only one who knew the place, except when his father's soldiers found him a few days ago. Ergon yelled, shout, and curse his father. He stood up on the treetop and keep shouting his hates and shame he received from his father.
“I curse you, father. I hate you. Die!”
He was gasping his breath when someone on the other side called his name.
“Hey, Ergon. Is that you? Why are you shouting?”
Ergon stops wailing and shouting and wipe the tears from his eyes. He was about to answer to the one who called his name when he saw him standing below the tree he was hiding.
“Are you okay?” he asks, then Ergon jump in front of him.
“Adolfo? What are you doing here? How did you do that?” he also responded the same way he asks.
“What? You mean, why I suddenly appeared in front of you? Well, that was just one of my abilities. I told you before that I am a swimmer. Good to see you, again, Ergon.”
Ergon could not utter any words while listening to the young boy of his age soaking in wet, half-naked, in front of him. He was scrutinizing him from head to toe and wonder how talented he was from him.
“Care to tell me what's wrong?”
“None of your business. Why, don't you go back?”
“Well, if that's what you want, then I'll go?”
“Wait.”
Ergon stops him when he saw him walking away, then Adolfo smiled at him and grab his hands. “Let me bring you to the northern side, in the land of Olvia, Ergon.”
And Ergon was unprepared when the young boy named Adolfo pulled him and both jump into the water.
