''Celia, you are glowing so much nowadays.'' Beret let herself into the kitchen as soon as she let herself into Celia's house unannounced.
Celia was startled. Little did she know that she had company the entire time, she was chopping up some veggies to make a quick brunch.
It was a Saturday, two weeks after the incident that Celia had with Dr. Schneider and her boyfriend, Daniel. Celia had completely blocked Daniel out of her life, but Daniel still tried at every given time to get across to Celia, to no avail.
Ask for Dr. Schneider, Celia still did not know who he was anyway, nor what he looked like. She didn't even know his name, but she knew that she had been forced sexually to do the deed, and she would rather shove it to the back of her mind and forget about it, but what was this feeling she was having every morning?
Celia often felt sick in the morning, but she was usually quick to gain her strength back, so she blamed it on her poor eating habits. However, if there was one certain thing, it was that Celia was glowing majestically.
''Glowing?'' Celia replied to Beret after jokingly showing off the knife in her hand, silently accusing Beret of breaking and entering.
''Mhhm...'' Beret replied with a smile.
''New catch? Already. Didn't you just break up with Daniel?'' Beret started to inspect the kitchen, looking for what to eat.
Celia rolled her eyes.
''Staying away from these men is what I have decided on. They are not worth the time and drainage they take from me,'' she explained.
Beret was laughing indeed.
''How far away from them can you be, you attractive little thing? Look at you glowing like the sun, of course, either there is already someone you are not telling me about, or you will soon have a catch. The universe is already giving you a sign.'' Beret was sure.
Celia's mind immediately went to the night that she had been forced out. Nobody knew about that incident, not even her best friend, Beret, as Celia had decided that whatever happened that night would go to the grave with her. After all, she did not even know the man, so to hell with everything.
Since she left Daniel officially, she has avoided her sister and concentrated on the company. The knowledge that the company that her parents, who were now both dead, left her, was an object of want for everyone, including her so-called boyfriend, made Celia's blood flow in rather intense gushes. Now more than ever, she would do anything to keep that company and see to it that it reached a height that was unattainable by any other company in the city.
''Celia... Celia... What are you thinking about?'' Beret snapped her fingers in front of Celia's face, trying to call Celia's attention back to her, as Celia had zoned out in thought.
Celia blinked rapidly and looked at Beret with a coy smile.
''Sorry, work has kind of crept up on me. It's been so these past few days. I have a lot to do,'' Celia replied, lying.
While Celia was deep in the gimmick she was pulling off for Beret, she felt a sudden urge to throw up, and she hurried to the bathroom while gagging, trying to hold herself back from throwing up on the floor.
Beret watched her friend, speechless. What on earth was going on?
''Are you okay, Celia?'' Beret hurried behind Celia and watched her throw up as she patted her back gently.
''You do not run a temperature. Are you sick?'' Beret asked, giving Celia the obvious look that any female in that position would.
Heaving after stressing her chest from throwing up, Celia took a seat in the living room and started to nurse a certain fear. For the first time since her morning sickness occurred, she wondered if she was pregnant, and hoped desperately against it.
If she was pregnant, would it be Daniel's baby, or...?
The thought of the second option gave Celia a subtle heart attack.
''I don't know. I have been feeling down lately. I'll stop by the hospital today and run a test.'' Celia got up as soon as she finished replying to Beret. She had to put up an aura that would prevent Beret from asking too many questions as, at that time, she was on the edge.
''I hope the worst has not happened,'' Celia muttered to herself as she walked past Beret, who stood confused, watching her friend act the weirdest she had ever come across.
Three hours later, Celia was at the hospital. She had yet to take over her family's company officially, as her parents had died when she was still a minor, so her Uncle, Duran, stood in for her.
But there was a problem.
Now that Celia was stuck with only the barest benefits she could get from her family, such as elite healthcare and other facilities, her Uncle, Duran, had refused to step down for her.
Because of Duran's stubbornness, Celia had to get a job in a company that was nothing compared to the reputation that her family, the Thompson Group, had. But what could she do? Apart from the fact that he held back what belonged to Celia, Duran also did not give her enough pocket money because he felt that if he did that, it would empower Celia enough for her to hire the best lawyers and sue him.
So, Celia lived a normal life as an average young lady in the city, even though she was a billionaire heiress.
A lot of people had their eyes on the Thompson Group since it was dangling without its real owners having a grip on it.
Celia arrived at the hospital to run a test and about an hour after she had run the test, the result was out, and she was called into the doctor's office.
''Congratulations Miss. Thompson. You are two weeks pregnant.''
