''You should be transferred to the gynecologist to take a closer look,'' the general practitioner who had just examined Celia said.
Celia could not form any words out of her mouth and could only stare into the abyss. For what it was worth, she was pregnant by the stranger who had forced himself on her as she was more than a hundred percent sure that Daniel, her ex-boyfriend, was not the father of her unborn child.
''Oh well, I'll just go right now and take it out.'' Celia was resolute. There was no debating that the baby was not welcome in her life and the fact that she did not know who the father was, made it even easier for her to get rid of the...
''Bastard,'' Celia muttered under her breath.
''I beg your pardon? Did you say something?'' The doctor was shocked when he heard what Celia said, but the level of profanity in her words at such a time, made him doubt that he heard correctly.
''Oh, I'm just fine. I'll go to the other department to see a specialist.'' Celia smiled and waved goodbye as if she was glad that she was pregnant.
As soon as she stepped out of sight, she straightened her face and started to wonder how she got herself into such a heavy mess.
''Daniel!'' Celia muttered.
It was all Daniel's fault because, if Celia had not caught him cheating on her, she would not have left the house, and ended up in that bar where she got drunk and had to stumble into the arms of a maniac.
Celia arrived at the gynecology department and, without a care in the world, she announced to the receptionist that she was there for an abortion.
Even though having an abortion was legal in that part of the world, nobody was ever confident enough to make an announcement such as Celia had done.
''Excuse me?'' The nurse said, looking at Celia skeptically.
''Better to get rid of a human being I cannot afford to take care of, right? Would you rather I brought him to this world to suffer in the hands of everyone and everything, because his mother cannot afford the best for him, and his father is a stinky bum who forces himself on...'' Celia had started to rant angrily when the nurse quickly cut her off.
''Sign here.'' The nurse held forward a file and pointed at the spot where she wanted Celia to sign.
While Celia did the signing, the nurse went in to inform the doctor in charge of special requests, just like the one Celia had brought forward.
''Wow! One would think that everyone would hop on the idea of having babies, yet someone wants to get rid of hers. Well, send her in.'' Dr. Schneider said without taking his eyes off whatever he was writing in the file in front of him.
Even though he appeared to be in a light mood, the nurse knew better than to keep her head down and keep a respectable distance while talking to the heir of the Bagel family.
''Send her in,'' he ordered.
The nurse came back to meet Celia, and showed her to the door where she would see the specialist.
''Doctor Schneider will see you now.'' She had a smirk on her face as if she was trying to judge me for wanting to get rid of a baby.
Well, if she wanted a baby, she could go ahead and get pregnant and deliver her child, not look forward to mine.
''Found her?'' While Celia was entering the specialist's office, she heard him say those words and saw him on the phone with someone.
Found who? Well, it was not her business who the man was looking for, if only she knew she was the one.
The specialist looked disappointed and then gave a stern warning to whoever he was with on the phone before dropping the call and raising his eyes to look at Celia.
His eyes were enchanting, and his aura was so welcoming and comfortable.
Celia felt at home as soon as he looked at her through his rimless glasses.
Why did he feel so familiar? She could swear she didn't know him, yet she also doubted that she did not know him.
''Doctor Scheider, I'm the patient that booked an appointment.'' Celia was so firm with the way she spoke because she knew how easy it was to convince pregnant women to keep a baby they had no intention of keeping, and they tend to regret their actions in the end.
She didn't want that to happen to her, so she didn't leave any room for familiarity.
''Ready to get rid of the baby already? Can I ask why?'' Dr. Schneider asked while he seemed to pen down something in the document in front of him.
''I was drunk when the bastard's father forced himself on me on my way home. I can't keep this baby.'' Celia spoke to the doctor as if she was quarreling with him.
Like she said, she didn't want to leave room for any chances of keeping that baby.
As soon as she said that, she noticed that the spark that was in the doctor's eyes when she entered the office had suddenly dimmed, and then he raised one of his eyebrows to take a peek at her.
There was silence in the room for a long time while the doctor appeared to be engrossed in what he was doing, trying desperately to avoid any eye contact with me.
''What's your name?'' he asked.
''Ce... Silvia Jerkin...'' Celia lied. She didn't know what came over her, but she knew she had to tell a big lie as far as revealing her identity was concerned.
All she wanted to do was get rid of that baby once and for all.
''Can we get on with it now? I'm ready.'' Celia walked to the bed in the office and sat on it, showing the doctor just how ready she was to get rid of the bastard she carried.
