Alex's days were filled with calls from his boss, notices about other court hearing, actual court hearings, some proceedings, and barely enough time to have lunch. The only day of the week he looked forward to in earnest completely, was boys night. He got to his friend David's house, holding the beers and steaks he had to bring since it was his night to cook, and he heard the others already bullshitting. "You guys ready for food?" Alex asked them and they all stood and started to tear through the bags he had with him before they got the peanuts and beers opened and spread. They were already playing cards and had the dominoes out, and they were just here to complain or brag about their work week. Alex started cooking, making sure that his tacos would please them all, before he took his beer, let them make their plates and took his seat at the table. "You have complained about something the past 3 weeks, one more and we're getting you a stripper next week. Tell us some good news." Alex rolled his eyes as all of his friends started to agree with each other that he was a dog down in the dumps and he had to agree. He was overworked, but still wouldn't have it any other way. "Alright, best thing happened yesterday. I had the three top students sent to me from Hanson right?" He asked them and they all nodded since they all seemed to know what he was walking about since they all gossiped like his mother did in church. "Well top student, f*****g beauty." Alex told them and they started to all talk over each other, saying how long it had been since he got laid, talking about how when he said beauty she always had to be one, they all wanted to see and have details. "Greek, curly black hair, blue eyes, shorter than me but not... break my back short." He told them then shrugged when they started to say that it sounded like trouble. "No seriously Alex, what has mother said about you seeing her dream woman for you?" David asked and they all started to laugh while he rolled his eyes. "You all know I can't start anything. She's an intern. She's going to be working for me... just something really nice to look at." Alex clarified so they wouldn't push him next week for ideas on how to get her into bed. "Well... she's your intern, not ours." Gabriel's eyes kind of held a mirth as he thought about how Alex got around beautiful women. He would charm them without trying, he and his brothers were always the same, and it was amusing to think that Alex was setting boundaries up now. "Yeah, that means she's still in school, and didn't we all agree no dating women still in college?" Stephen asked leaning forward, winking as they all started to remember it was himself that had brought up the rule in the first place since he had a major cling on after they graduated that hadn't even wanted to become a lawyer, she only went to law school to find a future rich husband. "That is right. No dating the freshest meat in town. We had that when we were in college." Alex said before shaking his head slowly. He actually went into college with a slightly serious girlfriend who went to Julliard and while that was still basically on the same coast, it might as well have been Australia. She cheated, he cheated, they just left it all on good terms. "Man, you think the others, there is only one chick right?" Stephen asked and David laughed and almost spit out his beer as the thought of sexism hit them all at once. "I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all girls, but we were in those classes..." Stephen added and then sipped his own beer and Alex looked at all of them. "Yes, she is top, and the two lower than her are men, very, very nerd boys." Alex knew that the ones that he was currently going to mentor were probably more focused like he had been in college, but where the two he was now going to help were ok, Alex had always done the extra mile for his looks and his s****l appetite. He went to the gym, studied, partied when he got good grades, and found out exactly what he liked in bed. "She's a top huh?" Gabriel bounced his eyebrows at them and then laughed, making them all chuckle at the term. "Are we sure you didn't skip parts of high school and college. You're very immature when you have only had like one bottle of beer." Alex teased before sipping his own. He had his cards in his hand as David dealt and he was sure to win with the best hand. Being an asshole, he made a comment in his own head, he could win some good money from his best friends tonight, and in three days, when his work load got him down again... he might have a great, sexy, hot woman to look at to make his mood rise. Friday was coming fast, barely sleeping the first night on the case, Lena was making dinner and reading one of the new books and writing down her important parts she wanted to bring up on her first day with the ADA she was working for. She had her timers on, she had her slippers tight on her feet, and she was in her small shorts and a tank top since her roommate just loved living in 80 degree weather. Lena heard one beep and moved to check over the rice, giving it a stir, putting in the right spices, she moved to stir and keep reading all at once before she heard the bathroom door open. "Dinner is almost ready, two more alarms and we can set the table." She called out but as always, her roommate, her best friend since childhood Angelina, or just Ang,  had her headphones in, dancing in her robe and then swinging her towel wrapped head around, she made Lena laugh. Lena marked her page, went to set the small table they had, and then heard another timer go off. She went down and grabbed the small oven mitts and got the oven door open. Uncovering the citrus chicken she had marinated all night, she pulled the foil off, pushed it back in, and made sure that it was going to come out with a crisp skin. She got her books put away so no food would destroy them and she grabbed the napkins before getting her wine glass and her friends wine glass down before opening the chilled bottle. She might be Greek, but Ang was Italian and she always got the best wines from her parents. Lena dished her food, then Angie's before going to get her attention. She was still dancing and smiling, and when she rolled her hips, turned around and saw Lena she stopped full and reached for her headphones. "Yeah?" "It's ready. I tried to tell you when you got out of the shower but I saw you still listening." Lena told her and she smiled as her friend pulled her phone out of her small pocket and started to play the music she had been listening to out loud. "No." She laughed as she backed away and Angie started to come towards her with the intent to make her dance too. "I am starving." She called out and headed for the safety of her table and food. Angie got there too, put the music down lower, and they started to talk about their days. Angie was out of school, her parents were both rich in their own right, divorced, and both trying to out do the other as they provided for Angie. She had the liberty of finding something she really loved to do all over New York. "So when I got there they put me right on the desk, just told me what to check and where to send them. They had this cute little lay out for me to follow too." She told Lena and then sighed. "I don't know if it was fun, but it kept my busy. Guess how many people came in today... and it wasn't even a 'busy' day according to the stylists." "25." Lena guessed and Angie shook her head before smiling. "On the schedule there was 39, and we had 15 people walk in and get helped." She shook her head and then went on to tell Lena about the older ladies that were covering their grey hairs, or getting their weekly hair dos. "What about you, going to impress your new boss on Friday?" "Going to try. I have the books I need for the mayor and the technical treason ideals along with the other charges he is being brought up against." Lena muttered on and on about the things she had already marked and she could kind of see Angie's eyes glazing over. She kind of hated lawyers, could get behind the use and the good they do, but she hated lawyers because of her childhood trauma of being the rope in the middle of two divorced parents. Lena rattled off and got her friend more interested, getting her mind off of bad memories, and she decided to talk about ADA Alex. "You know he's hot right?" She asked knowing that didn't sound right coming out of her mouth. "Like, tall, Greek god like my brothers." She told her and she saw the light zing through her eyes. "Now that is a good thing. You're an intern, technically not paid by him, so it wouldn't be so horrible to test the waters with a man like that just once right?" Angie batted her eyes at her friend and laughed when she saw the eye roll. "Come on, he's hot, you said so, you like hot just like the next girl. You are hot Lena. You don't have to marry him. You don't even have to tell your family about him. Just... build it up, and when you win your case, sleep with him, leave him, and get your mind on to your future again." "You make it sound so easy." Lena smiled at her friend and was basically nervous to talk about this, she wasn't a virgin, but she's only had one partner in bed and that didn't end well, ever feel good, and she wasn't one to share that with her best friend who would have told her that she needed a man not a boy for so long. "It's easy honey. You know me... I like to party and when I do...I never use my real name. I tell them to call me Angel. You could go by Maggie." Lena laughed hard, knowing that the only ones that called her that nick name are in Boston and couldn't possibly ever be caught seeing her out and about with her friends maybe looking for a man.... but at the same time nothing felt right about hooking up with a man she didn't know. Her mother was strong and put morals into her thinking that she would be in serious trouble if he ever had s*x before marriage. Lena smiled as she thought about what her mother and her brothers would say if they knew she was no longer a virgin, but she would never openly tell them that. She was sure they didn't even know about her 'friend' being more than a friend in her first couple years at college. "Come on Lena, live a little bit. When you're old and 85 years old covering up your greys don't you want to be able to tell your young receptionist at the salon you go to about how you got to have s*x with the hottest man you've ever laid your eyes on before marrying a respectable man." Ang laughed and saw the idea of it settling into her friends head. She knew that Lena was content in life, but content could turn sad and depressed very fast if she didn't get where she wanted to go. She wanted Lena to have so many happy memories so there was never something to make her crumble. Angie and Lena ate, then did dishes together before they went to watch a show, one that Angie picked as Lena moved to get her books back out so she could finish it up and move on before the next day. If she had a full day to go over her notes, Lena knew she wouldn't miss a beat on Friday.
