Alex got his papers, his card and made sure his assistant had three forms for the students he would be inviting to his office next week. He made his way down to the street, hailing a cab and going to his old school. Once he got there he realized it was just like how he left it, except there were a lot more people on phones and weird looking hairdos. He made his way to the lecture hall and was flashing back to his first couple years with his friends. He couldn't want to see them Friday night. He might take them back to that dive they went drinking at whenever they passed tests and quizzes. "Alexander!" He looked up and smiled as he heard Professor Hanson's voice. Alex saw a chick look back like she wasn't sure who was shouting and he had to admit she was beautiful. Dark curly messy hair. Bright blue eyes, flawless skin with no makeup on. She had a small bag over her shoulder, two books and a laptop in her arms, and she looked him up and down and looked away like he wasn't anything but dirt. She started talking to the Professor again and as he got closer and the kids went into the class he caught the end of the conversation. "I'll look at what you found and revise my teachings about it." Professor nodded to the girl and Alex watched her walk in without looking at him again. He watched her take a seat in the second row as his old professor started to say that kids were reteaching him again.  "Got my top three?" Alex asked as they went inside and he set down his files. "You know I do." Hanson slapped his shoulder and then went to the front of the class while Alex stayed on the side. "Now class, before I announce the top three that get to work for Mr. ADA here... the best of the best... and we all know who that is. I have received notice... I informed you all incorrectly. I want to give you all this web address, you will all take it down, read it, and tomorrow we will start a debate of who is right, and who is wrong." Alex listened to his old professor take it amazingly well that he was wrong, and he listed the address and Alex knew the platform well. He had even read the article two months ago when it came out. "Now..." He clapped his hands making Alex look out at all the faces and trying to pick out the hardest working and the smartest. "The third highest here is David Walker." Alex took the name and wrote it down quickly before handing it over to the guy as he came down to shake his hand. "Good to meet you." David shook his hand hard, knowing that it would make an impression... meanwhile Alex was just glad that he would remember the name. "Top three is always impressive. The other two get sick on graduation day you better still write your speech." He teased just slightly and he laughed before going to stand back. Apparently they were going to go out into the hall at the same time so Alex could talk to them all. "Second in the entire class is Antonio Gomez." Again there was clapping as the kid came down and Alex shook his hand. The kid went to stand next to David and they did a little handshake and Alex just remembered those days. "And finally at the top of the class, she has been top since she started here. We all know her name. We all know she's opinionated... she's corrected me a few times." Alex laughed lightly and heard some of the kids also laugh like they knew it was all in good fun. "Magdalena Castellanos!" Alex watched the girl he saw talking with Hanson stand up and all the girls in the class clapped and hollered like they were all proud. He heard the last name, he knew she was Greek, and if she knew who he was, then she must know that he was Greek. The fact that he never ran into her at church was probably a miracle... but then again if she was away from her family she probably didn't got o church that often. If he couldn't get to Jersey on Sundays he went to the local one that was actually close to NYU.  Thankfully at that church his mom didn't drag him around and offer him up like cattle. Alex shook her head and she smiled but for some reason he wasn't sure she was actually happy. "You four may use my office to have your meeting Alex." Hanson waved them off and then got on with the days lecture which sounded like it was going to be a pop quiz. "Come on guys." Alex nodded at the door and led his way back to the old guys office. He had been in there doing case studies less than 10 years ago so he knew his way around. He had to admit, he felt like the only dusting the place got was when someone used a book. "So... you need help on cases?" Magdalena almost wanted to laugh. How did he get so far into the DA's office and still need help. "I need help keeping things organized and correct. I will be prosecuting three big cases all within the same month. With these three being done completely, you're looking at the top ADA." Alex told her and she just nodded and still seemed like she wasn't sure she wanted to do this. "Are you up to date in current events?" While he asked that he started to divide the cases among the three... giving the biggest one to Magdalena. "You're on the doctors case?" Antonio asked as he looked at the papers he got. "Yep." "And the drug bust in lower Bronx?" David was basically drooling and Magdalena started looking through the case for the former mayor. "Which one did you get Lena?" "Former Mayor Harrison." She told him and she looked at Alex. He barely had evidence, but he had enough to go to trial. No confession, some proof that can be proved circumstantial, and a few shaky witnesses. "Hardest for the best." He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets. "When I was where you guys are now, Hanson was the best... he gave me class credit for working a real case in real time. He's doing the same for you. He likes current events. So, no matter if I lose or win these cases, if you do your best on them with me, then you'll pass the class with the marks you have now." Alex went onto explain that they would be given little rooms at the office he worked in, once a week he would have meeting for what they have done while working the case, and when it came to trial week, they would have a seat at the bench. "Wow." David was impressed, Antonio's chin hit the floor, and Lena was liking this more and more. "And if we can't help you or we bottom out?" "I can help you just as much. You aren't doing well in a class, tell me now, we can get studying." Alex crossed his arms and waited. But both being high in their classes, they didn't really need help. Lena watched as he spoke, he mostly looked at the two guys and when he did look at her he sent her a smile as if he was indulging her. "Fill out the first paper in the files and give me a run down on your free time during the week. I'm available everyday except Sunday."  Sadly that was the only downfall of Lena's news today. She had the chance of a lifetime to work on something real and new before she even graduated. She was getting the chance to have this on her resume and no one else was. She could literally get a job before she graduates because of this. It took a lot of weight on her shoulders and she pulled out a pen before getting all of her information down. Lena handed over the paper when she was done, and she was slightly blushing when he looked it over and nodded. He was the typical Greek god that could afford good suits and a gym membership. All of her brothers had made fun of her for liking mostly dating anyone but Greek men. She was always into the fit smart guys.. and today was no different. However she assumed that he was just like her brothers. Playboy who likes to use their Greek studies to charm women. Alexander was probably just like them, and she wasn't going to fall for it, no matter how smart, hot and charming he was. She had a career to plan to execute and if her mother caught wind of her liking a man now that she was 'marrying age' she'd never hear the end of it. Lena waited her turn to talk about her week availability. She had a lot since she usually studied on weekends. She had a strict schedule. Church early on Sunday, back to her mothers house for lunch, she would study there and catch the 8 pm train to NYU campus. Then she would keep studying before turning in. Alex tried not to stare at her for too long, giving her glances and smiles, however he was thinking about a lot more things than just her smile. He could see it in her eyes that she was excited to be given the biggest case. After he left today he would have to get to the sane part of his brain and shut down any infatuation he had about her. She was going to be his intern, trying to date or flirt with her would open up a bunch of issues he didn't want, or need. She was pretty but she wasn't worth being sued over if she was going to regret even a simple touch from him. She was going to be in the two days a week that 1, he met with his friends, and the other, just before he went to his mothers. Tuesdays and Fridays were going to be hard enough to maneuver her out quickly if she was as dedicated as she seemed about this. The other two found that Mondays were when they would overlap, and the other two would space out on the other two days of the weeks. In two weeks they would meet for brunch at a place he chose and they would talk about everything and answer any questions. Until then, he had Saturdays free. Alex watched them all head back to class, they each had their files, and as he passed by the old lecture hall, he saw Magdalena already going through the file more and then typing away on the computer. Lena sat there and did two things at once. When the slides started going up she took out her phone and recorded them and the professor, and she got a jump on the case files and books she would need to check out. She got to put them on hold and after this class she was ready to go and get them before going to her dorm. Once she got there she had to call Adrian.
