Lena got back in town late on Sunday, like always, crawled into bed and snuggled in. Sadly just like last night she started to dream about Alexander Dougenis. Smiling at her, laughing and leaning in to kiss her. It was all crazy to think about, and she was trying to forget about each dreamy kiss she shared in her head. She had woken up Sunday morning turned on and needy, but it wasn't long until she had to dress in her best clothes and get ready for church. She spent the time at church nodding along with the sermon, hearing her brothers all whisper about needing to get out of there, how long it seemed to be taking. Her oldest brother Adrian was the only one that knew about her new Internship. He had winked and silently toasted her lat night when they prayed about good fortunes coming their way before eating. Lena stayed up with him later on, watching him smoke his hidden cigarettes before he left fo his own place that night. Adrian was proud of his little sister, and he already looked into the case she was talking about with him. It seemed like it could be dangerous, but with the other ones she could have been given, he was silently glad that it was a big story, means if anything did happen to her, then it would be covered and more charges would be brought to the old mayor. He watched her get on the train Sunday night and knew if anything were to happen to her because of a high profile case he would have that ADA's head on a stick because he didn't think to protect her. He knew the mans name, his work place, his office number... everything but his home address. And it wasn't that he couldn't get it, there just wasn't a need to get it yet. Lena went back to school, going to her classes, taking her notes, and Tuesday rolled around quickly until she was back in his office, smiling softly as he finished up a call. The conference room they had been using was being used by someone else so she was in his small office and working through his bad organization skills before getting it in order. He was talking about order of his cases, trying to get a judge to push one trial because he was lead, and he had another trial at the same time. He hated when someone was being difficult, judges were supposed to make sure the justice system worked, not just piled higher and higher. Lena wasn't sure what was going to happen, but he took a deep breath after tossing his phone on the hook and he rolled his neck. "I got to look through all your notes, the first trial, if you want to go, is in two weeks, the 19th of February." He told her and she nodded and pulled her phone out to mark the calendar. He told her the time and room number before getting onto the facts. She was to keep records of his outlining arguments. She would sit beside him in court, give him the ideas she had that he didn't think of fast enough. "So just be your little note taker and organizational kit?" She asked with a laugh and he shook his head. "You made these notes possible. You're a co-chair. You don't have your degree yet so you can't speak in front of a judge. At least not unless you're a witness." He told her what he was sure she already knew. He wanted her confident, not worrying about what to do when they do get to the courthouse. She was good at the notes, good at the arguments on paper, now he wanted to know what she was going to be like in the room. Alex saw her phone lighting up when she didn't notice and peaked at the name. Angie. "You have a friend calling." "What? Oh." She moved to stand and she walked out saying the name he had already read and he had to wonder who Angie was, another student? "You already quit? Ang that is your third job this year. It''s barely the 3rd." She hissed knowing that it had just gotten boring for Angie. Either someone pissed her off and she didn't like to work with them, or the gossip was getting boring... it couldn't be that many things to make Angie quit. "There was no hot men... no single men around... nothing. I mean gossip when you know the people is good, but when you're just hearing how the ladies grandson is gay and you don't know him... it's boring." Angie said and Lena had to refrain from rolling her eyes. "Well where are you going to apply next? You'll need to wait for me to get home so you can update your resume. We need to get it back on your computer." Lena had fixed it once for her, and each time she applied to things online Lena would just let her use her computer, but that was when she was home every night. Now she was technically an intern who could be called in if Alex had the day open like he did last Saturday. "It's fine on yours. Plus you type so fast that you can add this job in two minutes flat." Angie said and a laugh bubbled up Lena's throat as she admitted to herself that was true. But after this time she was not going to be adding any other ones. She would take the resume and email it to her so she had it and Lena could delete the file entirely. "Well it's Tuesday, I am at the ADA's office, I will be home after 6 adn start dinner. Just relax until then. I know you'll be bored but just... find a good movie." Lena tried to make sure that they could do this tighter, if Angie felt the need to go out she would, and Lena didn't hate the idea, she just hated putting off things she was asked to do that day.  As her dad liked to quote, why put off to tomorrow what you can do today. Alex waited for her, hearing a bit of her conversation before she came back in, off the phone and shaking her head lightly. "Don't have to go?" He asked and she shook her head. "Roommate just called to tell me that she quit her job just now... and that she needed her resume file later." She waved it off, and Alex nodded slowly as he looked at her again.  "Nice weekend in Boston?" He asked her after and she looked up at him and sighed. "I did have a nice night and day. I only told my oldest brother about this, the internship. That way I can surprise my dad with the news of winning the first ever case I helped with before graduating... you know after we win." She seemed shy about it, and while Alex knew he was in for a fight, he had to believe in the system and that with all the evidence a jury would convict his bastard former mayor. "We're going to win, and when I win all three cases you'll get a party for you and your family and your roommate." Alex told her and she smiled. He asked about her other things, her classes, her work, her future that she wanted. She made it quiet clear that she would not marry until she was a great lawyer that was also on a high payroll from a firm she wanted to work for. He knew the feeling well. He had a couple firms always contacting him about working for them, especially since he was high in his class. He worked for a few firms before getting his real dream job in the DA's office. Even now he wasn't sure why he was still here, but it was his dream. He was going to see himself as the youngest DA ever, and then maybe he would move on. Lena listened to his advice as she kept working on the case. He told her where it was probably going to be easiest for her to get a job, and where she would need to strive hard if that was what she wanted. He could give her names and cards if he was so pleased to do so, but he knew when he even brought it up adn he started to shake her head, she wasn't looking for handouts. She wanted to earn herself a place somewhere all on her own. He would be a big name in her recommendations, and if this all worked out how he assumed it would, she would have the biggest glowing review he had ever given someone. It was getting late, he offered her a walk to the train and she took it. His phone started to go off and he rolled his eyes as he answered. "I know. I am on my way to Gabriels. I don't need to pick anything up this time you guys have that all under control." He spoke easy with who ever was on the phone and Lena just kept walking until she almost slid, and he caught her in his arm, bringing his phone around her and slamming it on her hip. "Sorry." She muttered as he held her close and pulled her off the icy patch. "You okay? Didn't twist anything did you?" He asked seeing her side step him and walk softly. "No, I am fine." She told him and he pulled his phone back up to his ear and heard his friends all asking who he was talking to, what was going on, the usual too interested questions. "Just walking to the train with my intern. She almost slipped." He heard the catcalls as soon as he confirmed that she was a female and he knew he would hear about it when he got to Gabriel's. "Bye guys." He hung up, putting the phone in his coat pocket before realizing he still had her arm in his hand and he raised it just slightly as he saw the stairs down to the train where icy as well. They were both uneasy as they walked down and he had a death grip on the railing before they were safe in the slightly warm area as she went through. "I'll see you on Friday, be safe." He called out and she nodded and he noticed her taking out headphones. He almost wondered why she didn't take those out before when he took the call, but he brushed it off knowing that maybe she was just being polite. He got a taxi to Gabe's house, paying less than normal was a little weird but he made it to the show, grabbed the snacks since it was his turn, and headed inside. Gabe was cooking, he nodded and grabbed a beer from his fridge and popped it open. "So....what does she look like?" He asked and smirked as he saw Alex glare. "You must like her, or think it's an insult that we think you like her." Gabe... any of them, were assholes when they tried to turn the fight onto the other. Alex knew there was no winning, so he sat there, tried not to engage in their games in trying to get information. As it was, they need to know how beautiful and nice Lena was. They went on for hours until Alex was getting ready to leave. "You got to tell me Al, is she hot?" "Gabe..." Alex took a deep breath, thinking back to the time he first saw Lena, and then every first glance he had of her since. She was not hot, she was beautiful, she was almost perfect. "Alexander... come on. You've been single since sophomore year... maybe you need to do more than find a girl to hook up with, find someone you like and have something casual. Even if it's a young thing that probably isn't all that good looking." Alex snapped his eyes to his best friend and gave him all the ammunition that Gabe needed. "Don't- "So... this Lena is hot, and so much so that you would defend her." Gabe bounced his eyebrows and laughed as he slapped Alex's shoulder. They walked down the stairs together and Alex blew into his hands as he saw their other friends already far down the street. "Don't tell them. I do not need the three of you suddenly showing up when you know we are working at my office." Alex told Gabriel and he nodded slowly and smirked. "I am sure you are going to do just fine getting that lady on a date all by yourself. If you do it before Valentine's Day I am sure you might get laid that night." Gabe winked and shook out his shoulder as Alex punched it. "Get your head out of the gutter. I have a brother her age. I am older than her by a lot. I can't even wrap my head around that at the moment. Maybe if or when I get to know her better." Alex knew that was a lie. He could imagine Lena in nothing but her big sweaters. Bare legs, messy hair all over the place. He walked home thinking more like that than he probably should. He could see her perfect lipstick smudged around if he ever got to kiss her, and he would want to kiss her hard and taking his time to enjoy the feel of his lips on his, tasting her mouth like he would want to.  He laid in bed, thinking about how she would feel in his arms as they laid together.... if that ever happened.
