Lena walked out of her last class on Friday, relaxing, hating the red and pink that she was seeing everywhere, and hating more that her friend wanted to have lunch before she went off to her internship. Angie wanted a Galentine's Day lunch. Lena thought it was ridiculous. But here she was, walking down the street to the big restaurant and she could already see the over the top decorations. They had a seat near the window, and Lena enjoyed her salad before her big red gift was handed over. All chocolates, all the ones that  she loved at least were in the box. She put it in her bag with her laptop and headed into Alex's office. He was on and off talking to her and smiling softly. She was having fun being his intern, he did teach well, and she was here getting her lasting notes before the first day of trial next Monday. Alex watched her dig through her bag and clenched his jaw as he saw the red chocolate heart inside. He had wanted to invite her to a early dinner, but now... he might be keeping her from her boyfriend. That thought soured like the ideas he had a about her in the lat week or so.  He got to know her pretty well since the boys all met at Gabriels, and he was entertaining the idea of asking her out more and more, until  he saw that heart. Now all he wanted to do was dismiss her. But before he could do that, he needed to be a good man, a good teacher and make sure that she was ready for trial with him. He was in the middle of where they would meet, just going over the trail from start to finish and he heard her phone going on. She blushed hard and went for it, and he had to admit he thought it was the boyfriend until he heard the name he had been hearing a lot when it came to her roommate. "Yeah Angie I still have the chocolate, why?" She looked at her bag and listened and Alex had to wonder if her friend Angie had picked it out for her boyfriend to give to her and somehow messed it up. "I didn't even open it yet. You know I like it, and I would have gotten you one too if you told me you wanted one." She rubbed over her eyebrows like she had a headache and Alex was now seriously confused. "ok, I will save you some... you know what, I won't eat any until I get home." She told her and Lena looked up at Alex and gave him a sorry smile before she finished up with her best friend and then hung up. "Sorry, we're both single this year so she set up this whole Galentines day, which is like a friend giving but for Valentine's Day. She mentioned lunch, and we did lunch, but then she gave me the heart box thing and now she wants half if I am not going to get her one and I really really don't want to try and hunt one down today." She was rambling, and Alex relaxed and thought it was cute before she had her little melt down  and apologized, again. "And here I was going to send you on your way early." He sat forward and gave her a smile. "Well, really I was going to ask you to dinner today, then I saw the box and thought that I was in the wrong for thinking you didn't already have a date... and now I guess it's me who is rambling isn't it." He laughed lightly and before he could get himself to take a breath and ask her properly, his phone on the desk was ringing. "This is Alex." He looked over to Lena, saw her blush and she just looking down  and playing with her nails as he watched her. "Alex, mom's shower won't turn on. I tried to see if there was a problem and I turned off all the water. Plumber is here... he said something about a frozen pipe. Dinner might be later on." "Her pipes are insulated. That shouldn't happen." He was pissed a bit, his mom and her needs came before anything. "That's what I told the guy." Niko told him and Alex rubbed over his neck. "He didn't want to look into it. It's on the first floor so he thinks it's just that cold outside." He added on and Alex rolled his eyes. His parents room had been right next to the kitchen. If the bathroom pipes didn't work then basic water for the entire house wasn't going to work. "Well it's Friday, come over to my house, you and mom both, tell the brothers and we can get the dinner going there." "You know she isn't going to like that. Her house of no house." Niko was right, but Alex didn't like it. "Well it's either that or she can't cook anything without water." Alex rubbed over his eyes, he did not need his mother getting difficult.  "Call me back in an hour, tell me if the shower is working, if anything else stops... just tell me." He sighed loudly as his brother said they would call later. Alex hung up the phone slowly and  looked around his space before looking up at her. "Again, I would ask you on a date, but looks like that's ruined again." He laughed lightly and she smiled gently before looking down. "Probably for the best... sounds like your mom needs you." Lena knew plumbing, that was her dads career after all, water was a big deal anywhere. "She might need me, It was just the shower that stopped working." Alex wanted to take her somewhere, but the more he was thinking about it now, maybe Valentine's Day would send the wrong message. Yes he wanted her on a date, yes he would try and be serious with her, but the holiday was about love, and he surely didn't love her. He didn't even know if he could come to love her one day. She was showing the best sides of herself, for all he knew she wanted to quit when she got a husband and live off of him while he works. Which again wasn't a bad thing, but to see how she was react at her job, Alex was sure if she did give anything like her dream job up, it would make him like her less. Who gives up a job they were probably born to have? "If you would like-" Alex was cut off rom asking her out for another night when his phone was ringing again.  "This is Alex." "I know who this is, you are my son, I dialed your number." Alex closed his eyes at the sound of his mothers voice. "I want you home early for dinner. If we have to eat out so be it but Is at you here for that decision." "Mom I am with my intern. I can't just cut her off and say that my mother wants me home early." Alex knew the second he had made the mistake. He had given Len'a slender away, and while his mother didn't jump at the chance, she did turn her stance around. "Well... maybe we can come to you, that would give us and you enough time to say goodnight to that girl you're spending your late afternoons with. And if she is hungry she is welcome to come with us as well." "No mom, we already know the ride out here for you is tiring enough, I will not have you walking around New York as we look for a place to eat." He looked at Lena and she was writing something before she looked up at him and smiled. "Then you and that girl can come here. Bring something to eat with you-" "Mom- she- I am not bringing a girl from work home." He stuttered out and looked away from her so he wasn't tempted to see if she was shocked at the idea or if she was going to jump up and run out of the building. "Why not? She's in college yes? She deserves a good meal, she has probably never had great Greek food, it would be eye opening." Alex clenched his jaw, took a breath and then sighed. "Mom I am sure she has had good Greek food before." Lena laughed lightly this time and his mother was already asking questions. Lena knew where this was ending, she had enough brothers forced to bring home women to know his mother wasn't going to give up. "She's Greek mama. She grew up eating it I am sure." He told her and Luna wrote quickly that if it was ok she would go, just to make his mother stop asking about her. She slipped the paper on his desk and he read it before raising his eye brows up at her. "I have brothers, I know how long this would take, and we need to finish before next week." She told him  and he looked at the note again before he seemed to wait for an opening. "Ok Mama, she has agreed to come. You have guilted her into it without even knowing her name or talking to her yourself." He was not laughing as his mother scolded him for what he was saying. "We have more work to do, she is going to be in court with me next week." "Alright, I will make sure your brothers are all nice to your new friend, and we will put the best plates down-" "Mama, you don't have to use the good plates. It will be just fine with whatever we do." He sighed as his mother outright said that she was going to get started on the dinner right now, no need to pick anything up. "Mama... just be careful with the pipes." He begged and she shushed him and said that if they leave in an hour she would expect them in two. They hung up with their usual I love you and he leaned forward and put his head on his desk. "Are you okay?" "I feel 15 again. My mom did this same thing when I was at someone house for a study session..." He banged his head a couple times before he lifted it. "After tonight I promise she won't make me do this again. Just talk about you to me, begging me to get something for you, take you back over there, she's just very-" "Persistent." Lena laughed slightly as they said the same word and she looked down. "My mother is the same way.  My older brothers, when they had dates, to anything like prom or a festival, the girls had to meet her first. She would ask about family, abut future kids, about pets...I know the drill." She told him and waved it off. "I was doing such a good job with hiding the fact that one of you were a female because I knew she would invite you over." Alex explained and she nodded slowly. "To be honest that is probably why I haven't told my parents, they would want to meet you, my mother would google you, she has gotten good at it... and then she would ask if you were single, and then ask if I had worn anything pretty for you since you were unattached and Greek and older and she would assume well off because you're a lawyer and.... I am rambling again." "You do that to my mother and she will keep you there for hours." He teased and she bit her lip as he looked back at his notes he was going over. The kept on, going about over of arguments, order of evidence to proceed, and everything until the hour was up, and his mother was calling yet again... to see if they were ready to leave. Lena laughed lightly when he hung up and hit his head a couple more time. It made his hair fall free and she liked seeing him a bit undone before she saw him straighten up and get ready to leave. She had told Angie about her plans to go to his moms house already, and while Angie was shocked, she said  Just don't f**k him in his old bedroom, that says serious way too fast. Angie had also told her to be a good Greek girl like her mother taught her. Lena and Alex walked to the train, this time down the side she usually sees him at and they talked about his brothers, about how to navigated them or if she wanted him to help her with them to just say his name or do a hand signal or something.  He was going down hill fast for this girl who didn't seem scared in the least going into the belly of the beast that was his family. It would be a test of wills with him... if she made it out of this alive he might just need to take her on a real date.
