The loud bang causes me to sit up in bed quickly with a short scream.
Warm hands are quickly holding either side of my face as familiar grey eyes come into my
vision. Realizing its Axe, I scoot back in alarm.
He's wearing only a towel and his hair is wet. The blood is gone and it's clear he's freshly
showered, but I swear I can still smell the blood of the dungeon. I look to the door quickly to see
a guilty looking Mason standing over a broken door that has pieces littering the floor.
"I'm sorry," Mason says. "He heard you scream."
I move my attention back to my mate who dismisses my guard.
"You had a nightmare," he states softly.
I nod and look down at the stitching of the covers.
"What about?" he inquires curiously.
I hesitate to answer because I don't want to make him angry or hurt his feelings. My mate is
pretty much a wild card now as far as I'm concerned.
"You."
He breathes deeply through his nose for a minute before closing his eyes and bowing his head.
"My love, I don't want you to be afraid of me. I left you here with Mason for a reason. You
weren't ready to see me like that, I understand, but that is only one part of me. It is the most
brutal and spiteful part of me, reserved for those who try to hurt or take what is mine. I won't
apologize for it, because I'm not going to lie. That man you saw is a large part of my life as
you've probably heard. I hope that one day, you could learn to love that side of me too. For now,
I just want you to focus on my better side. It's the side I will always show to you because I swear
to never hurt you. You needn't fear my hand or my actions where you are concerned, because I
would die before raising a finger against you."
It's a sweet speech, don't get me wrong. It just...it doesn't change how I feel.
"I'm not sure what to do about what you did to Jackson."
Axe scoots closer and brings his hand to my knee in comfort.
"Don't do anything. He's been punished, rightfully so. He's on his way back to your pack now.
My men will distribute him there before coming back. As promised, he's alive."
I nod and sigh in relief. It was cruel. It was...but he did sort of...in a way, bring this upon
himself.
Looking into Axe's eyes, his reasoning somehow makes more sense to me. He did this because
he cares and he promised to never do anything of the sort to me...isn't that good? I can't exactly
ask him to change the part of him that helped his pack thrive, much less change when he's been
nothing but sweet to me.
Now that I think on it, there isn't a damn thing wrong with this man. So, he's protective? So, he
seeks out justice? My mate Inflicted a punishment, a deserving one when I've seen men killed for
less. He's no monster. Just a good man with a bit of a temper.
He must notice the change in my demeanor because hope fills his features.
"Could you ever forgive me?"
I take his hands and squeeze them assuring before embracing him. "Of course."
Axe's arms squeeze me tight against him and take pleasure in the feeling of my exposed skin
touching his. He's so warm and comforting, I genuinely can't bear to let him go. Moving up so
that I'm kneeling in front of him, I turn our bodies and let us fall back so that I lay on Axe.
His hand travels up my crop top and I begin placing soft kisses on his chest in return. Black curls
of hair litter the broad and well-defined surface, causing me to rub my cheek against him fondly.
"The Luna ceremony will be held tomorrow, but if you'd like to be able to walk on stage, I
suggest you not grind on me. My towels already fallen," Axe says informedly.
I freeze in place and roll off him, drifting my eyes down to where his towel is completely
undone. The dark bunches of hair lead down, directly to where is already erect and weeping
penis stands tall. My eyes widen and my breathing becomes deeper at the sight. The pinkish red
skin is nearly as thick as my wrist and surely at least nine or ten inches. Bulging veins strain
against his shaft angrily awaiting some sort of contact.
"If you want a show..." Axe says teasingly.
