When he decides Lilac isn't good enough, she's left feeling hurt, alone, and rejected and with an angry overprotective father, there is a showdown to be held. That is at least before she bumps into an extremely possessive and territorial alpha, that is.

Chapter 1
"Wake up Little Wolf," The familiar voice with far too much pep for this early morning hour chimes. "We have to get to training." I groan, rolling further under my fluffy sky-blue comforter. It's not that I don't love training, especially since I'm the gamma's daughter and it's practically expected. There are just certain…issues that come along with the task. The truth of the matter is that I'm just not as good as everyone else. I'm definitely not the runt because I have some lean muscle to my body (thanks Dad), but that doesn't mean I don't get made fun of for being small. I know there are people who mean it to be an endearing thing, but it just doesn't come off that way. No 5'3 she-wolf wants to hear about how tiny she is. "I don't feel good," I mumble dramatically. My dad grunts in disbelief and pries the top of the covers away from my head. "The only reason a she-wolf gets sick is due to pregnancy or injury. Is there something you need to tell me Lilac?" my dad asks in his jokingly overprotective mode. Sighing and sitting up, I slap the overly voluminous covers out of my way. My dad, like most other male wolves tends to exhibit raw strength, and that’s just in personality. Being the head warrior, he's extremely built and that’s something I envy that about him. You don’t see anyone making fun of a six foot guy built like a bodybuilder. Somehow, his genetics skipped out on me. Whereas he's large, tan, brown eyed, and dark haired, I'm small, lean muscled, curvy, pale, blue-eyed, and I have a long curly blonde mop of hair that just brush my hips. "Can't I just take one day off?" I ask with a stubborn pout. We all train and run drills at least four days a week and it's beyond tiring. My dad frowns at my pleading, unamused when I fish for an easy way out or attempt to make excuses. "We are what we repeatedly do, excellence therefore..." "...is not an act, but a habit," I finish off dully. He loves that quote. We don’t know who said it, but he still uses it nearly every day. "Good girl. Get ready and be down in ten," he says kissing my forehead and walking out. Don't get me wrong, I love my father to death. Truly, he's the best and I don't know any man in this pack that could raise a daughter on their own like he's done for twelve years now. When my mom was murdered in the Bruschician Wolf War, he really stepped up. Sometimes, I just don't think he knows what girls really need. I mean, do guys ever? Sometimes, I want a break. Sometimes, I want to go out. He's just so afraid of losing me too, that I've never even been allowed to so much as go to a party unless he chaperones. In fact, I've never even been outside of the Blue Moon pack. Most parents take their kids out to help learn to control their wolves in human settings and such, but not my dad. He always swore that he would protect me no matter what and when I asked him to consider the worst-case scenario, he started bringing me with him to training. It's brutal to sit through double the sessions everyone else has to go through, but that's just my life. It's sad to think about and I can't imagine what will happen when-If I find my mate. What if he's not in the pack? I'll never find him! My father wouldn't allow it! What if my dad doesn't like him? There's just so much that could go wrong before I turn sixteen tomorrow. My dad hasn't even acknowledged the whole mate thing, and I'm far too nervous to bring it up. Shaking off the not yet existent problems, I get up and slip into a cropped tank top and spandex before fixing my messy curls as best I can. The things I would do to have pin straight hair... With one last look in the mirror, I make my way downstairs, following the smell of my dad's famous bacon and eggs. He's obsessed with pepper and sticks it on virtually everything. He calls it his "secret ingredient." Sliding onto the barstool at the counter, I dig into the already set out plate. It's a good protein packed breakfast as always. "How about we do bo staffs today?" My dad asks sitting next to me and ripping into his bacon as if his canines are devouring an animal during a hunt. I smile and nod quickly. He knows that's what I'm best at. It's the only practice that is pure skill. After finishing our food, my dad throws an arm around my shoulder and we walk to the training grounds where most of the assigned class already waits. They stand around talking in different groups and I join my friends who always stay near the front waiting for me. "Hey Lilac." "Finally, Lila. Did you sleep in?" I grin at the two and turn to watch my dad set out the weapons. Our training is more about discipline than perfection. We're wolves for God's sake. We don't always need a weapon. "You two just get up at ungodly hours," I retort crossing my arms and looking up at my besties. My male and female friends of six years both exchange a look before resting their arms on my shoulders. They only do so because I'm so short and they know it annoys me. Reece is my tan skinned, black haired shopping buddy. Often times she gets mistaken as my father's daughter instead of me, but if you compared their personalities, you'd realize that's a mistake. She loves pretty much everything and is dramatic like no tomorrow. It's amusing, though. She's turning eighteen soon and hasn't met her mate, but her boyfriend Justin seems make her happy for now. Leeland is my blond haired, football player looking, male best friend. He's buff, but not as buff as some of the full grown male wolves. He's seventeen and can't take over the Alpha position from his father until he finds his mate. The two take good care of me, but neither fulfill that need I have to find my other half. No one does that. "So, Lee, our girl turns sixteen tomorrow. How are we gonna celebrate?" "Well," Lee begins sarcastically. "We could put munchkin up on our shoulders so that she's tall enough to try and spot her maAAYY!" I pinch his side harshly to keep him from finishing his sentence. Reece chuckles lightly and crosses her tan arms as a defense against my possible attacks. "We could. Or... We could take her to a club." I frown throw my hands up dramatically. "Have you met my dad? I'm not going anywhere." Lee shoves his hands in his pockets and shrugs nonchalantly. "Sneak out." "No thanks," I say. "I choose life." As I listen to Leeland and Reece go on about things I can't take part in or have no Interest in, I start to wish I stayed in bed today. Why does everyone get to do things I can't? This is why I don't socialize.
