"What did you do," I whisper as Axe comes closer. "What have you done?!"
Mason's hold is all that's keeping me up right now, but the shivers wracking my body threaten to
make him loose his grip. Axe reaches one of his bloodied hands out towards me and I cringe
away with tears making their way down my face.
"What....why?! You said you'd keep him alive! He's bleeding out!"
Mason finally lets me crumple to the floor and Axe comes down too with about a foot of space
between us.
"You forget he's a werewolf. His body is already healing, my love."
Axe's grey eyes look at me with a childlike innocence and I wonder how he could done this. I
wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it myself. Is this what everyone was talking about? It must be.
He's ruthless. They don't call him the Blood Canis Alpha for nothing.
"He didn't deserve that," I say shakily as I try to make my shallow breaths even again.
Axe's eyes turn darker now.
"He deserved worse. The only reason I didn't cut off his entire d**k was because I don't know
how he'd pee without one. This was showing him mercy and now he can never go through with
raping you or any other she wolf! You're safe..."
I shake my head and close my eyes. He did this because of me. It's my fault! If I never told him
about it, Jackson would not only be out of my life, but he would still...well, he'd have his balls.
"I need to go," I whisper trying to get my weak and frightened body off the ground.
Axe moves to help, but I stop him with a raised hand.
"You're covered in blood. Just don't."
He looks hurt, but nods to his beta who leads me up the stairs with a supportive arm and takes
me out of the weapons shed. A pacing brunette snaps her head towards us and frowns deeply.
"What happened Mason?"
"She just saw a little bit of torturing. I assume you don't actually know her, Luna?"
I frown in confusion and shake my head. Why would I?
"This is Maddy Pines. You're made up long lost friend," he reminds me.
I look at him sheepishly and smile to the girl who smirks at me.
"Clever, but stupid. Newcomers never are ready to witness this side of our Alpha. I assume you
want to be alone after whatever you saw, so just come find me whenever and I bet we really
could be friends," she says in a joking tone.
I nod and she takes off while Mason escorts me back to the pack house. After laying me on the
bed, he pulls the cover up and scratches his neck awkwardly.
"So...do you want me to stay...or go..."
I think about it for a moment before deciding that sleeping off the experience would be the best
option.
"Could you stay outside the door? Just to make sure Axe doesn't come in until I'm ready to see
him?"
Mason nods and steps out, taking guard by the wooden entryway.
I see it now. The beast everyone described as terrifying, relentless, and ruthless. How had a
thought that I knew him after two days? My judgement isn't as good as I thought. What he did is
unspeakable and I'm unsure how to handle it. Before now, I hadn't seen that temper of his. Not
when directed at me of course, but would he? Would he ever treat me like that?
Letting the stress leave my body, I drift off into a slumber that's is plagued with nightmares of
the possibility.
