MADELINE POV
He said he loved me. And I said I loved him back. The car ride has been filled with constant kisses to my knuckles and plenty of hand holding. I feel like a teenager. My teenage years sucked and I never actually had a boyfriend, but I wasn’t blind to how kids were around me. They were lost in young love. I always wanted to experience it, but no one paid any attention to me. I’m thankful that I’m experiencing it all with Damien. He’s better than any high school boyfriend could have been. I found out on the ride home that we share similar music taste. I hooked my phone to the Bluetooth and I wish I could have captured the look on his face when I played my music. I saw the signs for Destin and frowned. I loved the little bubble that we were in. I loved my job and all, I missed Gemma, but I didn’t want to return to reality yet. I needed to call Gemma as soon as I was home. She needed to hear it from me that Damien and I started dating. She wouldn’t care, but I didn’t want her to be shocked when she saw us together.
My condo came into view and we slowly pulled up out front. “I’m going to miss you.” Damien said, leaning across to give me a passionate kiss. I smiled into the kiss “A few more hours and we will be at work together.” He stuck out his bottom lip “That’s going to feel like a lifetime. Are you sure you don’t just want to turn around and go back.” I chuckled “As much as I would love that, what would Gemma do without us?” He sighed “You’re right. But don’t expect me to act too professional at work.” I laughed hard. “You, professional?” I joked. He just rolled his eyes and chuckled. We climbed out of the car, Damien grabbing my bags while I went and unlocked the front door. As we walked in, he set the bags down, quickly pinning me against the now closed door. He kissed me hungrily. I jumped up, wrapping my legs around his waist, not daring to break the kiss. “Well hot damn. That is not what I expected to see.” Gemma snorted. My eyes went wide as Damien gently placed me back on the ground. He cleared his throat and adjusted his now hardened manhood. “Gemma. Did you have a nice trip?” He questioned. She laughed, raising her eyebrows “I did, but it looks like ya’ll had a better one.” “I’m going to go and let you two talk. I will see you later Gemma.” Damien turned around, leaning down and placing a quick kiss on my lips, then getting dangerously close to my ear. “We’ll finish this later.” he whispered, nibbling on my earlobe before leaving. I thought that I had blushed before, but this time, my cheeks could have started a fire.
“Spill!” Gemma squealed after I walked in, sitting on the couch, and covering my face with my hands. “I was going to tell you when I got back. I did not know that you would be in my condo!” She laughed “Well, you have been nearly radio silent the whole time I was gone. Now I know why.” she said, wagging her eyebrows at me. I just shook my head at her. “He took me to Disney World, Gem.” I said, unable to control the smile on my face. “Girl, I’m jelly. I need all of the details.” I told her everything that had happened in the past few weeks. From me showing up to his father’s funeral, the night that he showed up at my door and changed everything, and us taking the trip to Disney. “Gem. He broke down all of the walls I built up. I trust him....” I paused for a moment “I love him.” I whispered. Gemma’s eyes were as wide as saucers. She screamed and pulled me up, jumping up and down. I shouldn't be shocked by her reaction; this is definitely Gemma’s style. “I am so fu*king happy for you Maddie. You have no idea.” I smiled, hugging my best friend. I’m so glad that she’s in my life. “How was your trip? How are Mom and Dad doing?” I always called her parents mom and dad. They were sweet. I met them when I was 18, but they accepted me like I was their own. They travel a lot now that they’re both retired, so occasionally Gemma joins them if they go somewhere exciting. “It was really refreshing. I missed them so much. They are so fu*king happy traveling. I hope that I can have that someday. Speaking of that, I met a guy while we were in Hawaii.” she said winking. “Details!” I squealed. Gemma told me all about this guy. They met at the beach and hit it off. He was a surfer and she took a few lessons from him. He asked her out on a date and things just took off from there. She pulled up a picture of him and he was definitely easy on the eyes. “I’m so happy for you. Are you planning to travel there more frequently now?” She looked a little nervous. “I don’t know Maddie. What if he’s not as into it as I am?” she asked, chewing her bottom lip. “Is my Gemma nervous, that some guy can’t see how absolutely amazing she is? If he doesn’t think you are out of this world, then girl, he is not the one.” She laughed. “I love you Maddie. You are the best.” I hugged her “Love you too. You’re the best friend and sister anyone could ask for.”
Work was a lot more fun with Damien now. We had a good time making drinks and dancing around to the music. Occasionally when things weren’t too busy, he’d sneak a kiss in or smack my a*s behind the bar. I didn’t think that anyone would really care, but we wanted to remain professional in front of the customers. Gemma came to the front for a run down on how to make Damiens signature drinks. The bar was pretty quiet for the moment, so Damien and I slipped away. Gemma winked at me knowingly. As soon as we rounded the corner, I was pushed against the wall and he attacked my mouth. We’d been fighting the urge to sneak away all night, but damn, the buildup was worth this kiss. I shoved my tongue deep in his mouth. He moaned in response. Our hot make-out session was interrupted when I heard “Wow. I thought nothing was going on between you two?” Damien set me down and I covered my now swollen lips. Josh was standing there staring at the both of us. “Not that it’s any of your business, but this wasn’t planned.” Damien broke the silence. Josh ignored Damien “I can’t believe you, Mads. I thought that you might actually see something between us, but you said you weren’t looking for a relationship.” he said angrily. “I’m sorry Josh. You’re a really great guy, just not the guy for me.” It was true, I had nothing against Josh, he just didn’t spark anything within me. Josh huffed “And to think I felt bad for you.” He turned towards Damien “Good luck with that one. She’s obviously a mess.” he spat. I winced at his words. I knew he was just nursing his bruised ego, but at my expense. Before I could react, Damien had Josh pinned up against the wall. “Just because she’s not interested doesn’t mean that you can insult her. Get the f*ck out of here.” he seethed, letting go of Josh’s shirt. Josh straightened out his shirt, shooting daggers at Damien, but I could see the hurt in his eyes. He disappeared and Damien turned towards me. He looked a little embarrassed. Running his hands through his hair “I’m sorry. I lost my cool there for a moment. You don’t deserve to be disrespected.” he whispered. I closed the distance between us and wrapped him in a hug. “I understand. His words hurt, but he was just upset that he didn’t get the girl. I’m not going to take it personally.” He kissed the top of my head and we returned to work. Gemma looked weary, but knew not to bring up what had just happened.
