Kids for a day

DAMIEN POV

Today was by far, the best day I’ve had in my entire life. Madeline and I got to act like kids for the day. It was amazing. I’d been to Disney so many times, but today felt like I was experiencing it all for the first time. She made it feel that special. Once we were back in the room, I wanted to collapse. Between the Florida heat and running around all day, I was exhausted. Madeline dozed off on the trolley for a moment, so I know she was feeling about the same. I walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower. “Join me?” Madeline nodded, following me into the bathroom. I stripped down, climbing into the steaming stream of water. I reached out for her hand as she stepped into the shower. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug. I grabbed the shampoo, turning her around and massaging it into her scalp. “God, that feels amazing” she moaned. “Baby, you’re going to shatter my resolve if you make that noise again.” I groaned. She turned around, mimicking a zipper to her lips. I scrubbed her whole body, making sure to take my time taking care of her. She returned the favor by scrubbing my body head to toe and massaging my scalp. I had to admit, it felt amazing. We finished up, climbing out, and falling asleep quickly afterwards.

“Do we have to leave?” Madeline groaned sleepily. “Unless you want Gemma to fire us both, yes.” Madeline pouted a little before sitting up. I reached out, running my thumb along her bottom lip. She leaned into my hand and I pulled her in for a few more minutes of cuddling. “I had a really great time. Thank you for everything.” she said. I leaned down, kissing the top of her head “I had an amazing time myself. I’d do anything to keep that smile on your face.” Her head slowly turned up to look at me. God. She had the most beautiful, bright green eyes. “You are breathtaking. Have I told you that?” She mocked thinking about it “Hm, I don’t think so.” I chuckled “Well sweetheart, you are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The sun, the stars, and the moon have nothing on you.” I started peppering her face with kisses and her laugh filled the room. I will spend the rest of my life making her smile. Making her laugh. Showing her that she is a force to be reckoned with. “I love you, Madeline. You don’t have to say it back and it’s okay if you don’t feel it yet. You’ve captured my heart and I just want you to know that.” She stared at me in shock. Sh*t. Maybe it was too soon. I don’t want to scare her off just as soon as all of this is blossoming. I saw her eyes fill with tears. “I’m so sorry. Please don’t cry.” I pulled her close to me, wrapping my arms around her into a tight hug. She pulled away “They’re happy tears, Damien. I love you too.” she whispered through her tears. I leaned down, kissing her like my life depended on it. Pouring everything I felt into that kiss.
