She sat across from Juliana in calligraphy, the only class they had together. Alex found herself warming up to the girl, despite Juliana's spoilt princess attitude she was a nice girl, and hanging out with her made her worries lessen
At least calligraphy was something she was good at. She didn't want another teacher breathing over her neck for it
She sighed in contentment as she admired her work. This wasn't war but it needs its level of patience, Juliana didn't seem to understand that though
" Uh! I hate calligraphy so much" she whined tossing off her quill " why do we need to write so fancily anyways?"
" You can always ask the teacher you know?"
" Are you kidding me? Miss Elizabeth is always finding excuses to report me to dad, you think I'll willingly give her one?"
Alex shrugged and focused back on her ink and paper. Juliana leaned closer to her to whisper
" Hey, someone said they saw you speaking with Albert today. Were you two arguing again?"
" No" Alex looks up from her work to Juliana. " He was assigned to help me with a task by the teacher "
" Really? Then isn't that good? This is your chance to win back his love. You two grew up together, am sure Albert still has feelings for you"
" I don't think that's the case," She said as her mind went back to how rude the prince had been to her. He had told her to her face to stay away from him, what other things did she need to know he held no feelings for Alexandra Silver. Eh, but who cares? It wasn't like she was going to fall on her knees and beg him. Back in her world, she was always too busy for boys and never dated anyone, she wouldn't start now. " I don't either way"
" You...You have gotten over him?" Juliana asked in confusion. Was it so easy for her friend to get over the boy she had been obsessed with?
" I have. He is my childhood friend and I want him to be happy"
Bullshit. She just didn't care
" I see," Juliana said, her tone suddenly turning cheerful. " I always told you that Albert wasn't worth all the trouble. They are lots of boys out there. There's the prince of Valtura, The young duke of Penberth, my brother who has a crush on you, oh and the Elven prince who's staying at your house. You can also..."
" Wait" Juliana pursed in her ranting to look up at the confused Alex. " Did you just say an Elf prince was living in my house"
" Yeah, the elf kingdom and the Fyn are making peace. The prime minister is responsible for entertaining him while he's here. How come you don't know that?"
Well, no wonder Edwin had warned her sternly not to leave her room yesterday. But if she had known there was a real-life elf living in the house, she would have gone to see for herself. Maybe she still could, when she got home that is
" Never mind, continue with your listing"
Juliana happily obliged, naming down all bachelors she thought were more suitable for her than the prince of Fyn. Alex listened and sometimes laughed at her friend's jokes. She didn't take any of it seriously, of course, she wasn't planning on staying here forever. She would find a way to go back home eventually, but until then, she might as well enjoy the little pleasures of a peaceful life here
* * *
Alex rubbed against her sore hands as she headed toward her next class. Who would have known embroidery was harder than it seemed, she couldn't remember how many times she stabbed her fingers with the needle
The hallways were almost empty now as everyone else had already gone to class, it wasn't her fault that she couldn't locate the music classroom in this large space
A glinting of metal caught her eyes from a room that had its doors left open. Alex couldn't help her curiosity getting the best of her as she walked into the room. Her eyes widened as she found the walls and tables lined up with swords, spears, arrows, axes, and weapons she had never seen before
She felt excitement bumbling through her and she walked to pick up sharp looking dagger designed with jewels and gold. It wasn't the modern weapons she was used to holding and the ones felt much heavier than her guns or grenades. But they were still weapons nonetheless and she was fascinated by weapons
A dagger much smaller than the one she held caught her eyes. It didn't have flashy designs or jewels decorating it but she found it beautiful. She could tell by the way it was crafted that a professional must have made it. Some words which were in a language she couldn't read lined the back of the blade, she felt compelled to run her finger across it
" What are you doing here?"
Alex was startled, and in her haste to turn the dagger fell out of her hand with a loud clank sound. She was met with the familiar boy she had seen leaning on his carriage yesterday. He was panting slightly and his dark hair stuck to his face with sweat, she could tell he must have done something laborious to make him that worn out
"Am sorry, I. I didn't mean to intrude"
" Weapon craft is only meant for males " He stated with a raised brow as if it should have been obvious to her. Maybe if she had been from this world, it would have
Alex felt the urge to talk back, to tell him that women were perfectly capable of handling weapons, she knew she was. But she decided against it, it would be too out of character
She bent down and picked up the dagger placing it back on the table, she turned back to him. " Am sorry. I'll leave"
She walked past him and made for the door. she hadn't quite walked that far yet when his voice called out to her
" Wait"
She froze in her steps and glanced over her shoulder at him. " Huh?"
" Do you want to keep it?" He asked offering the small dagger in her direction
Alex stared into his eyes, gauging out any emotion that might show he was joking, they weren't any. She retraced her steps until she was once more standing in front of him. She reached out and took the dagger with a grateful expression
" Thank you"
" You know, most girls wouldn't have accepted that," He said smirking down at her as she held his gaze
Alice reciprocated his smirk. " Well, that just shows am not like most girls"
" I can see that"
" Am Alexandra.Silva"
" Xander Bloom"
" Pleasure to meet you"
" The pleasure's all mine"
She smiled at him and turned on her heels, she needed to get to her music class after all.
Dark eyes watched as she left, a thoughtful expression on the male's face. He'd never seen a noblewoman with an interest in weapons before
Alexandra Silva was far more intriguing than he had thought
