Running From The Prince

Chapter Three

The moment the carriage came to a halt in front of the manor, Alex ran out of it in a dash. She didn't think she could stand Ryan anymore, he didn't know a thing about respecting personal space

She smoothened the wrinkles of her dress and walked through the doors of the manor. She didn't expect that someone was standing behind the doors when she ran face first into his chest

" Alexandra "

She looks up to meet a pair of silver eyes, with a mature presence. She knew instantly that this must be the eldest brother she hadn't met yet. But how come he was back here? Shouldn't he be out exploring the world or something

" Edwin" she called back

He raised a single brow at her, but apart from that didn't show much emotion. " Father has a very important guest, it would be wise if you remained in your quarters tonight"

He turned around and walked away leaving her confused. She was a bit curious why he was acting so cold, the rest of the men in her family seemed to pamper her. But whatever, as long as she was left to meditate alone in her room then she didn't mind

She hurried in her steps towards her chambers not wanting to encounter anyone else on her way

" Lady Alexandra" She found Emilia already in her room, and the old woman presented her with an outfit. " Please wear this in the evening"

Alex rolls her eyes and takes the dress without a word, she was already getting used to the old man bossing her around. Emilia would pick out her clothes, accessories, and even diet. She didn't want to refuse her offers because she was afraid of upsetting the old Lady

But at least Emilia lets her take her baths by herself now. She stripped out of the awful dress she had been stuck in all day. She submerged her body into warm water in the wooden tub, it felt relaxing and the water smelt nice

One good thing that came out of ending up in this world were the luxuries she enjoyed, she didn't have this back home, always too busy fighting for her life

After her long bath, she struggled into the dress before making her way into her bedroom. It was already dark outside and the cold wind that blew through her windows made her drowsy

" Maybe I could just take a small nap"

She yawned making her way towards her bed. The feather-like softness welcomed her and before she knew it, she was already fast asleep

" A lady must follow the proper table etiquettes Lady Alexandra, please take note"

.She rolls her eyes, dropping the fork back on the table with a clank. She couldn't do this anymore!

Why the hell were there so many forks and knives anyways? What happened to spoons? It didn't help matters that she was still very much sleepy, having table etiquette as the first class of the day was messed up in every way

She already ate breakfast this morning, why does she still have to stuff her stomach once more!? It was never advisable to take too much solid food back to her camp, she wasn't used to eating too much

It was already too embarrassing that every of her classmate was starring over at her, the only noble lady in school who couldn't use knives

But at least the arrogant boy of yesterday wasn't the one sited next to her, she could still feel his gaze shifting to her from time to time and she had the urge to snap at him

Wasn't he the one who wanted her to stay away from him? So Why was he looking at her now?

The sound of the bell ringing was like music to Alex's ears. She was the first to get to her feet and try scrambling out of the yard

" Lady Alexandra "

Oh, just great!

Alex turns around towards her teacher as the rest of the class slowly disperse. Well, most of them

She glances at the arrogant boy once more. Why was he still sitting there? And what's his deal with those crowns?

" Yes, teacher?"

" What is the matter, Lady Alexandra? You've been acting...odd lately" The fat man looked genuinely concerned about her

" It's nothing, am just a bit distracted"

" Does your distraction course you to lose your table manners "

" I.."

" Should I talk to your family about this?"

" No!" Her eyes widened in horror at just the mere idea, it would be the same as pointing out that she was a fake. She hadn't been behaving quite normal around them, adding this would just be exposing her

" Alright then" the man seemed to have a bit of sympathy for her. " But you'll need to improve, I won't tolerate the breaking of any of my China plates anymore"

" I.." Okey, she only broke one plate today and it was a complete mistake. She had pressed the knife too hard against her barbecue that the plate underneath it cracked. How was that her fault?. " okay, I'll ask my Nanny to.. "

" There is no need. His Highness will guide you through it"

" What?! No way!"

" Lady Alexandra.. "

" Why couldn't you have picked anyone else in the whole class?"

" I thought by your relationship, you two would be closer and it would be easier for you to learn from someone you..appreciate?" The teacher seemed uncomfortable saying those words, and so did she hearing them

Did everyone in this school know that the former Alexandra had a crush on that arrogant guy? Was that why it was even the teacher seemed disturbed by it

" Appreciate?" She snorted, Alex glanced across her shoulder to see the arrogant boy staring directly at her, he was frowning and she knew for sure that he could hear their conversation, good then! She turned back towards the teacher and drawled out her response, slow and clear. " I think I appreciate pigs more"

A heartbeat of seconds passed by, and the teacher's eyes widened in shock, he quickly shook off his reaction and waved a dismissive hand at her. " I already asked his highness to teach you, you just go obediently"

He turned away and rushed off before she could open her mouth and protest. Alex clicked her tongue in annoyance and made to walk towards the school building. A hand-held onto her wrist prevents her from moving forward

Alex turned back to glare into scarlet eyes. " What are you doing? Let go!"

" I was told to teach you. You can not disrespect the teacher by disobeying his instructions"

" How very noble of you. Apart from being a prince wannabe, you a teacher's pet also"

His jaw clenched as his gaze hardened, his grip growing painful. " Alexandra, you better not cause trouble"

" eh, and if I do, you think you can stop me?" She glares back at him mirroring his disdain. To think the former Alexandra liked this jerk!

" Albert?"

Their heads snapped towards the direction of a soft voice, only then did they notice a white-haired girl standing silently on the side, staring at them with wide eyes

Alex's hand was flung away as the arrogant boy moved away from her in what appeared to be panic.

" Rachel I.." He tried to speak but Alex cut him short. Only now did everything finally click in place. This guy wasn't someone she had a crush on but the fiancée who was leaving her for another woman. The ones Juliana had told her about

She laughed in pure amusement at the weird coincidence, now she had more reason to hate this guy

" Devil's couple " She made a heart shape with her hand, flashing it towards the two people staring at her. " May you have smooth sailings"

She turned around and walked away. Unaware of the two dark eyes that stared at her curiously through the shadows of the trees
