Chapter 7 Annoying Sister

1007 Words
POV: Damon Last night I may have gone to see my little Valentine. I learned a lot more about Lavender wolves. Zayla gave me a book about it to read but when I'm done I have to give it back. It was the last thing her father gave her. The book has a lot of interesting things in it. I learned about the Regal pack. According to the book the Regal Pack was the last Royal pack. There were once five royal wolf families. They each had their own packs until a war came causing them to merge into one pack called the Regal Pack. It doesn't say what the war was about or who they were at war with. Zayla says that it was a war that wiped out the Regal pack and it is no longer around. My mate tells me that the color purple can be symbolic of royalty so it makes sense that the royal pack would have purple wolves. I'm not quite sure just how the dynamic of the royal packs would have worked. I mean surely not all the pack members would have been of royal blood right? If this is the case then surely that would mean that Zayla is of royal blood. Werewolves haven't followed the royal dynamic in a long time. She would be an omega royal. The Royal families are of our normal Pack ranks. There was Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Omega families that consisted of the five Royal families and packs. "Damon you going to school today?" Landon yells out from downstairs. "Yeah, I'm coming!" I yell out to him. I grab my book bag and head downstairs. I need to talk to the office at school to excuse Zayla from school yesterday anyway. I promised her she would not get into any trouble for skipping yesterday and I have every intention of seeing that through. I walk downstairs from my office. I see that Jordan and my sister are with us today. I wonder how Zayla is getting to school today. "I thought you were riding with Zayla like you always do?" I question my sister. Cassie rolls her eyes. "She's riding with her sister, Miranda. She wanted to talk with Zayla this morning for some reason. She totally kicked me out this morning." My sister complains. "Ugh babe will you stop? Miranda doesn't get to talk to Zay much without Rose butting in." Jordan gets on to Cassie. "How do you know? Zayla has never told me that before. She and Miranda are close so why would they need to talk this morning like this?" Cassie continues not wanting to let it go. Zayla told me the real reason why Cassie doesn't want us together. What I thought was the reason was just a very small portion of it. Cassie is extremely jealous of Zayla. I do have to agree with the grabbing guy's attention part. I've seen guys watching and checking out Zayla. That ends today. No one is allowed to look at my mate like that. I'm the only one allowed to. My sister is going to stop too very soon. She has a mate. Cassie needs to get over herself. "I know because Miranda is my sister and Zayla is my step-sister. I live with them so I know how they interact with each other." Jordan corrects Cassie. "OK enough both of you. Cassie stop being so hard on Zayla now let's go before we're late." I put a stop to their little argument. Everyone follows me out to the car. I drive the car today to school. I don't normally drive to school but Cassie needs to be taught a lesson that things aren't always going to stay the same. Things change and sometimes plans change. As the Alpha this is a lesson that I have come to learn and know very well. Things could change on a dime in the pack and I have to drop everything to fix it. That's what I like about Zayla she goes with the flow. She doesn't expect it all to be the same all the time but I imagine being what she is has its own challenges so this was a lesson she learned herself. At least she has a little bit of warning before things happen with her mind-reading abilities. I'm trying to be fair with both my mate and sister. I don't want to hurt my sister which is why I haven't made any kind of move on Zayla thus far but now I know that Zayla is my fated mate I can't follow my sister's wishes. I also don't want Zayla and Cassie to argue and have a falling out. I want Cassie and my mate to be friends and for Zayla and I to be my mates at the she time. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that I'm going to be screwed. Cassie is going to have a fit the second she finds out. I just need to talk with Cassie and lay it all out flat. I will just have to make sure I put my foot down to Cassie on this one. I don't have Mom here anymore to get through to her. Mom was always the only one to get through to my sister. I'm going to try my original plan first by working Cassie up to the idea of Zay and I being mates. If it comes down to it Cassie is just going to have to get over herself. Zayla doesn't belong to her. She barely treats her like a good friend anyway and she wonders why Zayla doesn't tell her things. I pull up to the school and park the car. I see Zayla standing out in the parking lot talking with her sister, Miranda. As I get out of the car I use my hearing to listen in on what they're talking about. "No! You can't! Please." Zayla begs her sister and walks away. I wonder what that was about.
