Chapter 8

1555 Words
Varden was having a hard time understanding what they were doing at the restaurant, when they would have spent that time working on important things in the office. But leave it to Gregory to just disrupt an entire meeting with his mischievous ways. Weren’t they the ones that had tried to cajole him to a meeting not so long ago? He had initially wanted to go there, but now all he wanted to do was bury his head in work, and distract himself. From where he sat, in the VIP section of the restaurant, which was actually up the stairs, and reserved for just them, he could see below him through the smoked glass of the raised section, and could see a few couples going about their meals. Some looked happy. Some didn't. One particular couple looked like they had been forced by a leash to come to the restaurant, which irritated the hell out of him. He wasn't one to do relationships, but seeing the couple, made him feel a little bad for them. What could have gone on between the two of them, to make the woman play around with a delicious looking pasta like the one she had on her plate? "I don't know about the three of you, but I'm hungry." Gregory said, not bothering to pick up the menu. Amongst the four of them sitting there, there was no single one of them, who didn't know the menu by heart. In fact, they had all decided on that menu by themselves. "I can't see Bella anywhere, though." Oliver, who had been quiet the whole ride to the restaurant, stood up with his hands in his pocket and walked over to the side where Varden sat, so he could see below. "Oh, leave her alone. She's not supposed to serve us food." Draco said, not taking his eyes off his phone, which he had been busy with since he came in that morning. Gregory rolled his eyes. "Well, she is my daughter. And I'll really prefer the food she serves me over any one else." He finally said, and just then, Bella appeared with a gleeful smile on her face. Varden knew his little sister had a bubbly personality, but it seemed with each day, she looked more bubbly than the last. If that made sense. "Papa!" She exclaimed, dodging everyone of her brothers, and going straight into the arms of her father, who had a huge smile on his face. Varden rolled his eyes. Leave it to Papa Devereaux to treat his sons like robots, and melt whenever he saw his only daughter. "Oh, you smell like bubble gums." Gregory scrunched his nose as she pulled away. "And... your hair is...red.." Varden almost laughed then. Just when they were sure their sister couldn't get any more creative with the colors on her hair, she had gone full blown bubblegum red. Something they all knew irritated their father like hell. "Oh, but it's cute." Draco, who was forever on her side, finally put his phone away, and opened his arms so she could snuggle her way in. "You look beautiful as always, Bella." He complemented, playing with a lock of her hair briefly, before turning to face his father who even though he was rolling his eyes, had a smile on his face. The first they had seen that morning. At the age of Twenty-one, Bella, was pretty much very rebellious, but still remained the lamb in the family, as she was never exposed to anything other than the restaurant part, of the vast conglomerate they owned, and just little pack activities. And he knew that the whole family would pretty much agree on the fact that that was the best thing their father had ever done. "I don't even want to ask what the lot of you are doing here, but your food is on it's way, and, I would leave you to it." She said, dislodging herself away from Draco, and going over to tease Oliver, who pretty much matched her energy. And from the sly expression on her face, Varden could tell that Oliver, was about to get billed heavily. And he slid a gaze to their father who chuckled, before they both turned back to the scene that was about to unfold. Oliver was quick to catch on, and literally shoved his little sister playfully towards Varden, before snickering. Varden, who realized too late, sighed as Bella come to stand before him with her hands at her back, clearing her throat. "But you have money!" He groaned before she could even say anything, causing the whole room to erupt with laughter. Just then, someone entered the room, and Varden literally felt her, even before he turned, and almost gasped at the beautiful woman who walked into the room with a tray in her hands. What in the_ The room had suddenly gone quiet, he knew why. He could literally feel everyone watching, wolves alert, as their eyes preyed on the woman, including him. Dressed in the restaurant's black knee-length uniform, the woman who had just walked in, was easily the sexiest little miss, he had ever seen. From her thick curly hair, to her long neck, and down to the swell of her breasts, which pushed softly against the material of her shirt, it was easy to get lost. She looked to be in her early twenties, but not as young as Bella, and also not much older than her either. If he could take a wild guess, he would say, twenty five, but that's was just him guessing wildly. He could be wrong...or not... But whatever she was, all he knew was, those were the most kissable lips in the entire world. And he would have done anything right now, to be alone with her in the room, just to see how good it would be to...Fuck. What was he thinking? He blinked, trying to get his thoughts together, and stop looking at the woman. His family was here for heaven's sake! "Oh, thank you, Lexie. You can keep those here." Bella chimed, immediately dislodging herself from him and going to join the incredibly shy woman who had ducked, the moment she had entered, and had gone straight to the table. Lexie. What a beautiful name. "You must be new here?" Oliver asked, staring at the woman. Varden had never seen her before at La Rosa’s, and could only remember distinctly of their search for a new waitress... something that wasn't an easy fit, since they requested the best. But if Trevor had chosen her...then.. The woman stilled, and turned around to stare directly at him, and once her gaze clashed with his, Varden knew he was a goner. Her very vibrant green eyes literally looked through his soul. He could feel himself tighten in reaction to her, and found he couldn't take his gaze away from her. There was something familiar about that gaze though, but he couldn’t have been sure… Gosh, he could literally feel his chest thumping so hard, and was distinctly scared that his brothers would hear, since they literally had their wolves flashing through their eyes.. "Yes, Sir. I am new here." She replied solemnly, wringling her hands together. Fuck. That voice. It sounded so innocent....so pure... and licked over his senses, drawing him in... Where had he heard that voice before? He let his gaze drop to her full lips, and for a moment...only for a moment, imagined what they would feel like, pressed against his.. It was the sound of his father clearing his throat, that got Varden out of his day dream. In fact, at the moment he came to, she was already rushing out of the room, with Bella on her tail, chattering at her as they left. What the f**k had just happened? He had had to tear away his gaze from her very supple, yet subtle curve of her button which was nicely wrapped around the uniform they were required to wear at La Rosa. And those legs....gah! Since when did he start behaving like a horny teenager over a woman? And not just any woman...a woman who happened to be working in his restaurant! An employee! Varden lived by a lot of principles. And one was, never to involve himself with his employees. It created a very good working environment. One that was grounded in respect, and professionalism. And now...the beating of heart, and the tightness in his groin notified him of the fact that that may change soon. He could literally already see himself coming back here, just to see her angelic face.. "Can we eat now, or are all of you going to remain quiet all morning?" Gregory asked, his voice ringing through the room causing all three men to recollect mutter to themselves, and head to the table so they could situate themselves properly, and get on with their meal. But on Varden’s mind, was the woman, whom he had just seen, and had had the most blatant immediate attraction to. Even his wolf had been oddly approving. And it was odd because, just last night, he had felt the exact same way with the woman at the club.. Maybe this was the moon goddess telling him to forget about her?
