Lexie's hands were shaking.
Badly.
She had had to excuse herself from Bella, who had been about to give here yet another task that would send her to that room once again, with the excuse of needing to pee so bad. Something to which Bella’s eyes had widened, and she had immediately sent her in the direction of the bathroom, while she had instructed another waitress to handle it.
Now, as she stood in front of the most beautiful sink she had ever seen, she couldn't wrap her head around what had just happened to her.
For the second time in her life, she had felt an instant attraction to a man. And if it was just mere attraction, which was already a problem, Lexie would have thought of a way to wriggle herself out of that stupid thought.
But it hadn't been just attraction. It was mixed with something deeper.
It had been the three men in that room, who had all looked identical, but with varying eye colors. How she had even realized this, was beyond her. But she had noticed, alright...
"Oh, Lexie...get yourself together. Yes, they are pretty much the hottest things you have seen on this planet. But, that's just it." She mused in a whisper, trying to will her staying thoughts away from those thoughts...But still...
His eyes… A color that could only be described as icy, as it was neither grey, or blue.
Just one look , and her body had been set on literal fire, which she instantly recognized as s****l fire. For a moment or two there, her betraying mind had conjured up images that made her cheeks go bright red.
How could she gave thought about kissing him? And the fact that it was happening at the same time, when she was in the same room with the others..and...they were obviously brothers!
"f*****g stupid.." she muttered, blinking to clear the thoughts away, and splashing cold water on her bright red face.
This was not what she had signed up for, when she came to look for a job. And as she straightened, she banished those thoughts away.
There was a small chance she was going to meet them again. They had been impeccably dressed, and looked like busy CEOS.
Maybe, they won't come in here again..
Or she could also just avoid them too...
Especially him..
Fuck..
Even as she strengthened her resolve, she could still feel her stomach fluter really wildly.
So...sexy..
"f**k, Lexie!" She warned, rushing out of the bathroom in am attempt to breathe fresher and cooler air. And also banish her wayward thoughts.
It was a struggle, but it worked..
Phew!
No man was worth her attention right now.
But she couldn’t help but wonder why he has born such a striking resemblance with the man from the club..

Gregory Montgomery cleared his throat, allowing his gaze to rotate the room as he looked at each of his sons. There was no doubt what he was about to say would shock them all, but he had no choice, given the circumstances. It was urgent, and needed to be treated that way too. He had intentionally waited till they were all together because, knowing the sons he had, he wasn't sure they had had any breakfast. And if they had had, it definitely wasn't a great one either, with all the work they had on their hands.
"I called for this meeting, not to talk about business, but the other business." He started, straightening his spine in his seat. At the mention of 'other business', the whole atmosphere tensed up. "I want you to help me look for a girl.” He said. “Well, the daughter of my late best friend.”
Varden frowned at his father’s words. “William Powers?” He asked, instantly knowing who his father was talking about.
Gregory nodded in agreement. Varden could see the slight fall in his stoic expression at the mention of his friend's name.
William Powers had been his father's other half. They weren't related at all, but they had bonded in ways even blood related siblings could not. It was something the family had found hard to understand, as they were hardly away from each other. That was, until William had married, and slowly, that relationship had died a death that had shaken Gregory Devereaux. It had shaken him up so much that he had completely withdrawn from everything, including his business and the pack.
It was why Varden had become the Alpha so early in his life.
"Yes. Him." He said, schooling his expression back to normal. "Well, he asked me to take care of his daughter before he died. And I did, in a way. I always kept an eye out for her, even when that psychotic wife of his had promised to send me to jail with her stupid accusations. I mean, she got married a week after he died, and cut off all contacts with family. I had to withdraw then."
This was news to Varden. And a look to his siblings, told him they were confused too.
Their father had sworn to wash his hands away from Powers for as long as they could remember. So where was all of this coming from? And why was he telling them?
Gregory sighed. "Well, I wouldn't have brought it up, but I have no choice now. Especially when she went missing, yesterday. I mean, I don't know what the girl looks like right now, since her mother did a pretty good job at hiding her all these years. But I do have two pictures of her, of when she was a toddler, and early teenager." He said, reaching inside his pocket, and pulling out two pictures, which he set on the table.
Varden was the first to reach for the picture, looking at it critically. On the first, was a really chubby toddler, with the brightest smile and very scanty hair, posing happily for the camera. While on the other, was a picture of a chubby teenager, who didn't look to be over fifteen, just giving a bored peace sign to the camera as she looked at something on her right. It wasn't much at all. Her hair looked fuller, compared to the scanty mess that was her toddler hair. But in the picture he was staring at, it was slick, and straight. Extremely straight.
How she went from curly, to hair as straight as that, was beyond him.
"Why are you bringing this to us then? Shouldn't you already have people on it?" Varden asked. Not that he didn't care for the missing woman or girl. He actually wished for her to be found. But it was unlike his father to bring them a missing persons case. They were not detectives.
Gregory stood up from his seat, placing his hands in his pocket. "Because it's a very delicate case. If anything should happen to Miss Powers, then the Devereaux Conglomerate as you know it, would crumble to the ground." He said, and started to make his way to the door, while the three men in the room looked on. Just as he reached the door, he paused. "I would send you some of the details I have. Make sure you are very careful. And, whatever you are doing, it cannot be linked to me."
And with that, Gregory left the room, leaving everyone in confusion.
"You see? When I say your father can be rattling crazy at times, you all think I'm joking." Varden cursed, tossing the picture back on the table. "Who the heck says something as serious as this, and walks out, after giving very few details of what we are actually getting ourselves into?"
"What the hell does he mean by the conglomerate would fall?" Oliver countered.
Varden just sat still with a frown on his face, not saying a word. If anything, all he felt was frustration.
As if he didn't already have a lot on his hands.
Well, he knew how to let that frustration out. And it wasn't long till he was going there.
"I need to head back to the office." He finally said, getting up from his seat as he pulled out his phone to call his driver. Knowing his brothers, they liked to hang out in the restaurant at any chance they got. And with this new task, he knew they would surely stay a while as they pondered on it.
"Aren't you going to stay and let us discuss how we can handle the situation?" Draco asked with a frown.
Varden shrugged. "I'm sure the both of you would do a fine job, but I still have a lot on my plate." He said with a sigh, eyeing the pictures that lay on the table.
On a second thought, he walked over and opened his camera roll, taking quick pictures of the both of them, before pocketing his phone.
"Well, I understand. We'll see you later." Oliver said, confirming exactly what Varden thought.
"Sure." He said with a small wink, before making his way out of the room.
Varden shut the door and made his way down the hall that let to the staircase. It was always amusing to him, the amount of space that had gone into building La Rosa de Nightingale. He didn't even want to talk about the name. It was a combination of both his little sister’s middle name, and her favorite bird. The combination was off, but actually sounded sweet.
But with the way people trooped in all the time, and with the money they paid, all he could say was, it was well worth it.
Smiling to himself, and lost in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice the person walking towards him, until he was a couple of inches away, and reached out instinctively, to keep her from falling from the collision that was bound to happen.
They both let out a whoosh of air as their bodies collided with each other, and with Varden’s quick movement, he was able to hold unto her, and guide them to the wall which was very close to them.
It was a bizarre movement and situation, but somehow, they ended up with her pinned to the wall, and Varden leaning over her, appearing to be hugging each other.
And just as he came to, he was entranced with the green eyes that looked up to him.
Fucking beautiful.....
And familiar_ “You!” Varden hissed as he looked at the unmistakable face of the woman that plagued his dreams!
Even if he hadn’t recognized her, his wolf certain did!
