Chapter Four

Kiera POV The next morning I was awakened by a new set of strange pains. These ones were far less intense than the ones from last night. It hurt, but I no longer felt as if I were going to die. I doubled over in bed and held my stomach. Tears streamed from my eyes, but just as it happened, it was gone. I checked my phone. There was a message from Kristopher. I’m headed home. It was all it said. He usually left a sweet message, or said that he loved me. It was off for him, and I suspected something was bothering him. I showered and dressed in a blue halter summer dress. It was about knee-length. I tied up my hair into a messy bun and slipped into a matching pair of wedges. I felt like dressing up a little to greet my husband, he had been gone for so long. Well, it felt like a long time but it had really only been a little over a day. I went downstairs, I had breakfast with Alice. I wolfed down a full steak, pepper, and cheese omelet with a side of hashbrowns. I sucked down a glass of juice and when I received word that my husband was headed to pack house I made my way to the main entrance. The second Kristopher walked through the door I threw myself into his arms and went in for a kiss. He hugged me, but he had grown stiff to my affection, moving his face so I would kiss his cheek. There was a growl coming from beside me, as I detangled from my husband, I noticed a red headed woman in a skimpy red dress standing near my husband. The fact that she growled at me, instantly pissed me off. Then I scented it. Her smell. It was all over him! I stepped back and looked up to Kristopher. “I don’t know how to say this, Key. This is Serena. My mate, my fated mate.” I shot a glare in her direction, and that was when I noticed it. She bore my husband’s mark. He had marked the b***h before ever coming home or telling me! This was the pain I felt. Him. He couldn’t keep his d**k in his pants long enough to tell me the truth and worse. He couldn’t reject me first so I didn’t feel it every time he pumped himself inside his little red headed w***e. I clenched my fist until my knuckles turned white. This little omega was his mate? For f**k’s sake! Kill this b***h! Elari screamed in my head. “Look, if you can handle it, we don’t have to get a divorce. She’ll make my wolf stronger, we can have heirs. All the two of you have to do is get along. I can bring her in as the Pack Concubine. I mean, Serena is just an Omega, she might not make a good Luna, and the people love you here.” Kristopher tried to reason. As if I would ever sit by and suffer every time my husband touched her. As if I’d ever be the other woman in my own marriage. As if I’d give up my self worth, just to keep my title. No. Never. “No.” I said, anger fueled my body and my eyes refused to shed a single tear. I gave him four years of my life and he betrayed me. I gave him everything. I loved him. I love him still, but I can’t and I won’t do this for him. “No? Come on, Key. You can’t just leave I still love you!” No, you don’t. I told myself, even as he spoke the words. I was angry, and in my rage I reared my hand back and I slapped him as hard as I could. His little mate got angry at this, and went to attack me, leaping towards me with her fists bared. Not fast enough. I grabbed her arm and used the momentum to send her flying towards the stairs. I saw the anger flash in Kristopher’s eyes. He was giving me a murderous look, as if he were going to hit me for this. I could see his fists clenched at his side. “You have no right!” He screamed at me and I looked back at him with the same angry look. “To defend myself? I have every right. Need I remind you who you married?! I would never let someone put their hands on me. I will never be hit for lack of hitting back. Be lucky that’s all the little w***e received!” I screamed back at him. This time he did try to slap me. I caught his arm just before it connected. “I was once trained to be an alpha, too Kristopher. I too have trained my entire life to be strong. I’m not some weak woman. You’ve clearly made your decision. You marked her, so I doubt you’ll be rejecting her. I’ll make this easy. You want her? Have her. I’m f*****g done.” “Come on Key, I didn’t mean to. I just… What are you saying?” “I, Luna Kiera Woods-Tate of pack Red Wood reject you, Alpha Kristopher Woods of pack Red Wood as my mate.” I felt my chest tighten with the searing pain. My heart was breaking, even as I said the words. “Kiera, No!” I watched as he doubled over in pain. “Accept it, Kristopher!” I bellowed through my clenched teeth. “I… Kristopher Woods… Accept your rejection.” He breathed out. The cord that once bonded us, snapped and the pain receded. I was numb to the agony I felt and I chose not to tell him about the pregnancy. I stomped off upstairs to my office. Alice was close on my heels. I shut and locked the door and looked at her. “My last command as Luna. Get the elders, so I can give up my title. Draw up the divorce papers. I’m leaving this hell hole tonight!” “Yes, Luna. I’ll contact your father and sister. I am loyal to you, Luna. I of course will be coming with you.” Alice said softly. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.” I told her and sat down at my desk to breathe. The next few hours were filled with tense silence, as I signed the documents I had Alice prepare. Several times Kristopher attempted to mind link me, but I shut him down. I disconnected my bank account from Kristopher’s, and took myself off the pack’s spending account. I would take nothing I didn’t earn. As for the divorce? I would not request a single dime. Alice booked a flight for us to Montana. My father was aware of the situation and would have someone waiting for us at the airport. The elders arrived later, and I resealed by own blood to remove myself as Luna, and from the pack. Alice did the same. There was a constant sting in my neck as my mark began to fade. I chose this, I reminded myself. I can choose to leave just as easily. I packed up my things from our bedroom. I wasn’t even surprised to see Kristopher and his little Omega standing there as I zipped up my suitcases. “What? Is your little mate scared I’ll steal something?” “You should give Kristopher back the rings and all the stuff he bought, If you’re in such a hurry to leave. You shouldn’t profit from him if you’re planning to leave him. That’s not very fair.” The little redhead said. Funny how she needs to hide behind him, in order to pick a fight with me. “Stop it, Rena.” I scoffed at the sound of his voice. He already gave her a little nickname. How sweet. “The rings, Kiera. You should give those back at least. I paid almost ten grand for them.” “No. I’m not giving them for you to marry your little w***e with. They were bought for me, so I’m keeping them.” Alice slid through and collected the bags. “The divorce papers are in my office, and they’re signed. I’m not asking for a dime. I had money before you, and I’ll take nothing I didn’t earn.” I gritted through my teeth. Kristopher tried to stop me as I was about to brush through the door. He grabbed my left hand, I assume to rip the rings from my hand. I twisted my wrist, gripped his shoulder with my other hand and kneed him directly in the groin. As he let go, and doubled, I walked through and headed downstairs to leave. Alice opened the passenger side of the car we were taking. I took one final look, before I slipped into the seat. Alice started the car, and pulled out of the driveway. I looked out of the window and sucked in a deep breath. It wasn’t until we left the pack territory that I finally allowed my heart to break and the tears to fall. This was it, I would never come back to this place again.
