Kent “ Capo, colt is on the line,” Matt said, giving me the phone. Colt is one of my trusted men after Matt he takes care of the business in New York City. “ Go on,” I said, I placing the phone on my ear. I was listening to him carefully when the car stopped at a red light. “ For now take care of the business and don't go after anyone until I go there,” I said. “ But what about drew? They have evidence that they saw him here,” he said. “ Just do as I say,” I said and turned my head and that's when my gaze fell on a girl, a very familiar girl and the most beautiful one. For a moment I thought I was dreaming until her driver called her. She was looking at me. My brain froze and before I could say anything to Matt, her car hit the road and went ahead of ours. “ What is it?” Matt asked, bringing me back into reality. “ Uhhh, nothing,” I said and looked at the direction her car went. It can't be her, I thought. She has been dead for a good 4 years now. But those eyes, I could never forget them. “ Time to break some necks,” Matt said as he got out of the car. Looking out of the window, I saw the hotel standing in pride. It was the same as before. I got out of the car and straightened my suit before we walked in. Everything was just as good as before. “ Welcome, Mr. Volkov. I am Mason,” one of them said, who I assume would be the manager. “ The suite is ready as per the instructions,” he added. “ Good,” I said. Then I looked at Matt who was looking at me for a cue. “ Are all of your staff present here?” Matt asked. “ Yea- he said as he looked at each and one of them. “ No, sir. One is missing Today,” he added, breaking in sweat. “ Why?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. I needed to know the staff who are related to human trafficking. “ She is giving her final exams, sir,” one of the staff said, coming forward. “ Tell all of them that I want them present here by night,” I said. “ If you can't do this then be prepared to lose your jobs,” I added, I could hear a round of gasps. “ Show us our room,” Matt said. “ Yes, sir,” the manager gave him a curt nod before he led us to the elevator. The elevator stopped at the 20th floor and I got out as soon as the door opened and stepped into a big hall. The colour was perfect for me black and grey with a touch of white. “ I am taking my leave, sir,” the manager said as he was about to leave. “ I want to meet each and one of your staff by tonight,” I said , turning around to face him. “ Very well,” he said and scurried out of the hall and into the elevator. “ Tell our men to keep an eye on the guy from earlier and check around to see if anything unusual is happening,” I said. “ Yes, capo,” said that he went out. I turned around and walked to the couch that was facing the big balcony and sat down. Lily “ Thank you, Ben,” I said, talking to Ben over the phone as I went to my small apartment in the backyard of the hotel. “ You better hurry up, cinderella. We all needed to be present tonight when he comes down,” he said. “ Ok ok, bye then,” I said hurrying up as I hung up the call. Taking out the keys from my bag I opened the door of my apartment and went in. I needed a quick shower before I checked into my work. I went straight into the bathroom, stripping the clothes on the way and took a quick shower. I did everything as fast as I could. After wearing the usual staff outfit which is a black pencil skirt and white shirt I pulled my hair in a bun and went out. As I was running in the backyard of the hotel, something caught my eyes. The light on the 20th floor was on which is a rare sight because since I started working here this is the first time I am seeing those lights on as that floor is off limits. I really wanted to see the guest now. “ Wow, that was fast,” Ben said as he came to me. “ I feel like I went to the marathon,” I said, panting. “ You sure look like you did,” he said. “ Come on, you don't want to lose your job,” he said, taking my hand and dragging me in. “ I had warned you, Lilian,” Mason said as soon as I walked into the lobby. “ By the way, did you do well?” He asked and I could see concern all over his face. I wanted to laugh but managed not to. He is a person who always acts like he is tough but deep down he is soft and sweet. “ It went well, Mason,” I said and his expression changed almost immediately. All of the staff giggled. “ Good. now you don't want to lose your job do you?” He asked and I shook my head. “ Then don't disobey me after this,” he said. “ We have a really important guest staying in this hotel and we can't afford to offend him because he is related to…… he trailed off when we heard a pair of footsteps coming towards us. The sound of the shoes clicking against the marble was the only thing echoed in the lobby. “ Hurry up,” Mason said and all of the staff stood in a line with me, ben came to my side in a hurry. I have never felt so nervous before and I didn't dare to look at him. “ Is everyone here?” someone asked, his voice cold and straight. “ Yes,” Mason replied. “ What is your name?” A man said his voice was deep and husky. He could cut an iceberg with his voice. I stood there motionless and after a few moments Ben nudged me. Looking at him he motioned that he asked for my name. “ Lilian, sir,” I said, still looking at the marble floor. “ Lilian,” he repeated my name and it sounded better in his voice. His voice made my body tingle. “ Look at me,” he demanded. I didn't want to obey him but my body betrayed me. With a deep breath I looked up and felt like my breath caught in my throat. To call him handsome would be an understatement as he was more than that. Wait, I remember he was the one I saw today. His face was chiselled and his jawlines were defined. He looked as if god carved him out of stone. “ You will be my assistant here till I leave,” he said, his voice sharp. His demeanour was nothing but dangerous. “ But, sir- Ben was about to say something when he cut him off. “ I wasn't talking to you,” he said, there was a hint of anger in his voice. I wonder if Ben offended him. “ Of course, Mr. Volkov, she will be your assistant,” Mason said, coming to my side. “ I would like to have a tour of this place and then around the city,” he informed. Clenching my fist I stood there like a statue. I didn't have any choice other than to obey his request because of the salary. I need money to settle down in bora bora before I look for any job there and the salary here is more than enough. There is a strange feeling inside of me like he knows me and it is unsettling. “ There is nothing else here you all can leave,” the man behind him said. “ Come on Lilian,” Ben said as he took my hand and began to pull. “ Except, Ms. Anderson,” he added quickly. “ It's okay, ben. I will call you after my shift,” I said, patting his hand. “ Okay,” he said and walked away. “ I would like to have a tour of the backyard,” he said, making me take a deep breath to calm myself. Who in the right state of mind wants to take a tour of the backyard? I turned around with a gentle smile on my face and nodded my head. “ Words,” he stated in a deadly voice. “ Sure, sir,” I said, his presence was intimidating and I couldn't deny that. “ After you,” he said, pulling out his hand from his pocket and showing me to lead the way. I could see tattoos on the back of his hands. “ Please follow me,” I said like a good staff would do and began to walk. Crossing the lobby we walked through the hallway passing the kitchen. I could feel his eyes on the back of my head all the way here. If this goes on he could easily make a hole there, I thought. We reached the backdoor of the hotel which leads to the backyard. Pulling the doors open I stood on the side to make a way for him. He walked out of the hotel without sparing me a glance and I followed him out with his men. He walked a little bit far away standing there. I couldn't see what he was doing as his back was facing me but it seems he was enjoying the wind. “ Hi, my name is Mathew but he calls me Matt,” the man said. I looked at him in surprise because I didn't expect the sudden interaction. He was looking at Mr. Volkov. “ My name is Lilian Anderson. Nice to meet you sir,” I said. “ It's really nice to meet you Lilian,” he said, now looking at me. narrowing my eyes, I wondered where I saw him because he looked familiar. “ So you are his assistant or something?” I asked out of curiosity. I was about to say bodyguard but I chose not to. “ You can say that,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. He is nice unlike his boss who is always having the look of ‘ don't offend me’ I thought, rolling my eyes. I am really tired and just wanted to go back to my apartment and have a good rest but no, I have to give a tour for a full grown man. But it's quite nice here. The wind was chilly but it felt nice. Closing my eyes I stood there when I had a flashback of my past. My heart clenched as the memories from my last flooded back. “ Tomorrow morning we will go to the City,” he said. I opened my eyes just to see him standing right in front of me just a few inches away from my face. I was startled and a gasp left my mouth. I took a step back from him immediately and saw his face change. “ I'm so sorry sir, but tomorrow morning I have my last exam and I can't miss that. I can arrange for someone who will give you the tour,"I said, hoping he would agree. “ Did I choose anyone else?” He asked in a low voice. I should have known the answer. I didn't have any choice but to agree because Mason wants the deal. “ I will be there, sir,” I said. I looked down not wanting to show my tears. “ I will send you the time, you can go now,” he said. “ Yes, sir,” I said and walked in the direction of my apartment which is visible from here. I couldn't hold back my tears anymore and it rolled down. All the things I have worked so hard for are just going away and I couldn't do anything. Moving through the lawn I fetched my keys from my pocket. Reaching my apartment I opened the door. Entering into the apartment I looked and was surprised to see him still standing there looking my way. Looking at him as he looked at me made my heart beat race and I immediately closed the door. “ What just happened?” I asked myself, clutching my shirt above my heart. That man outside makes me safe, scared, excited and I don't know there's this different feeling inside of me, like we have met before. Shaking my head I went to the bathroom. I can't distract myself from my goal, I thought.
