Distractions (Part 2)

4248 Words
We were staying at a hotel called; The Lynnwood INN. It was across the street from the diner we were at eating. There is a mostly empty plate in front of Dean, who is circling obituaries in a newspaper. Sam was off at the restroom and I finishing my food. I looked over at Dean, as he circles an obituary that reads: CARLTON, SOPHIE -The Carlton family is sad to announce the death of their beloved daughter in a tragic swimming accident. Sophie Carlton, 18, was having her... Lake Manitoc WI, an suddenly.... An attractive waitress, whose nametag says Wendy, approaches. I mean she was cute and all but since Dean and I had stop we wasn't fully together. It sure didn't stop him from hitting on other women or flirting back with them. "Can I get you anything else?" She had asked. Dean looks up and grins around the pen he's chewing on. Sam comes over and sits down. "Just the check, please." Sam told her. "Okay." She says then walks away. Dean drops his head, then looks at Sam. "You know, Sam, we are allowed to have fun once in a while." Dean told his brother. I slapped his arm when he said that. Umm no your not when we're trying to be a thing. I said to myself. He kills me sometimes. Sam looks at me then back at his brother and grins a little at what I just did. Dean points to Wendy, as I slapped him, walking away; she's wearing short shorts and a skin tight shirt. "That's fun." Dean continues on saying. I slapped him again. "Ow, wish you stop doing that." He turns to look at me. "Nope, not when your flirting with someone in front of me." I told him. "Tell me you wouldn't hit that." He told me. I turned my head and looked at Wendy for a moment then back to them. "Ehh, she's not my type." I lied. Yes I would hit that but I ain't telling him that. Sam looks at him. Dean hands Sam the newspaper. "Here, take a look at this, I think I got one. Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin. Last week Sophie Carlton, eighteen, walks into the lake, doesn't walk out. Authorities dragged the water; nothing. Sophie Carlton is the third Lake Manitoc drowning this year. None of the other bodies were found either. They had a funeral two days ago." "A funeral?" Both me and Sam asked. "Yeah, it's weird, they buried an empty coffin. For, uh, closure or whatever." "Closure? What closure?" I had said. "People don't just disappear, Dean. Other people just stop looking for them." Sam added. "Something you want to say to me, Sam?" Dean had asked him. "The trail for Dad. It's getting colder every day." "Exactly. So what are we supposed to do?" Dean told him. "I don't know. Something. Anything." Sam said. "You know what? I'm sick of this attitude. You don't think I wanna find Dad as much as you do?" Dean said rudely. I slapped Dean's arm for how he was speaking to Sam. "Yeah, I know you do, it's just," Sam started to say. "I'm the one that's been with him every single day for the past two years, while you've been off to college going to pep rallies. We will find Dad, but until then, we're gonna kill everything bad between here and there. Okay?" Sam rolls his eyes. Wendy walks by, distracting Dean. "Okay. Dean that's enough there. Sam is trying his best now. Don't need to be mean or rude to him." I had said to Dean as he was watching Wendy walk passed. I rolled my eyes at them. Then looked back at Sam and smiled a little and he done it back to tell me thanks for sticking up for him. After Sam had paid for our food, we took off and went to the lake to talk to the victims family about what had happened. After a lot of questions, a young man name; Will, showing us where his sister had drowned. That's where she got dragged down. Saying she was a varsity swimmer, she practically grew up in that lake. She was as safe out there as in her own bathtub. Which I thought was weird myself. We also had went to the sheriffs office and talk to him about it as well. Saying that they drained the lake and everything. Didn't find a body at all. Weird. The next day or two more things had happened, Will had drowned in his kitchen sick while he was cooking. What his father had said. It was plain sad that in the past 2 days, both Bill's children had drowned in awful bad ways. As we went back to our hotel, we all were looking up more research about this lake. Then I saw a little boy in a newspaper that was saved from the lake from almost drowning. It was the same little boy that we had met at the sheriff's office. His grandson. I showed the boys and looked at each other then we got up and went to the house of the little boy to talk to him. When we got to the house, the mother said he hasn't said a word since he almost drowned from the lake. "Who saved Lucas's life?" I had asked Andrea the boys mother. "My husband, his father. He died saving Lucas's life that day." She told us. "Do you mind if we talk to him?" Dean asked. "Sure, but he won't say anything. He just sits in his room and draws." She told us. She took us to his room, where he was drawing like she had said. Dean and I walked over to him. I sat on my knees watching him draw as Dean tries to talk to him. We was getting no where really. He did draw Dean and I a picture. It was a little boy with a red bike by a big house next to a church. After the talk, we gone back to the car and Sam done some more research for a house like the one Lucas had drew for us. He had found the house and we went there. There was an old lady that lived there telling is that she had a son that had a red bike but he had died or something. He never came home from school one day. I walked around the room we were in looking at the photos that she had. "Who is this boy with your son?" I had asked her. "That was a friend of his, name Billy Carlton." She told us. I looked at Dean and Sam. They both nodded and told our goodbyes to the sweet lady and head over to the Billy Carlton's place to talk to him. As we were walking up to his house, Dean and Sam were walking up to the door to knock when I heard a boat motor then saw Billy in a boat on the lake. "Billy! Come back!" I yelled out and started running towards the end of the dock. I threw off my jacket and shoes then I dove into the lake to swim after him. As I was swimming, I had saw the boat go into the air and went under water to get Billy. He was being dragged down but I couldn't see who or what it was that was pulling him down. I swam back up to get air and went back down to try and get him. This time I didn't see s**t. Other than Sam swimming by me, grabbing my arm to tell me to get out of the water. I swam back to the dock with Sam. Dean had helped me onto the dock. I was laying there trying to check my breathe since I was holding it for a long time. "Something is down there all right. It was pulling him down. I almost had him, if I didn't have to come up to get some air." I had told them. "I was so close to his hand. I can't believe I lost him." I said beating myself up for losing Billy Carlton. "Did you get a good look of what it was?" Sam asked as Dean was rubbing my arms with the blanket he got for me. "No, that's the problem. I didn't see s**t, but Billy." I told him. We got up and walked to the car, we head back into town to talk to sheriff Jake. As we were talking to him, Andrea and Lucas came in. We was talking about what happened with Billy when Lucas had started acting weird. Like he was scared to go home. And I had a feeling something bad was gonna happened. After summing up what happened at the lake, we end up leaving. We were in the Impala, waiting at a traffic light. A sign says I-43 North to Milwaukee is to the left. The light turns green. The Impala doesn't move. "Green." Sam says. "What?" Dean asked. "Light's green." Dean turns right. I was wondering what he was doing. "Uh, the interstate's the other way." I had said. "I know." Dean said. "But I can't get Lucas face out of my head. I feel like something bad is gonna happen." He said as we drove towards Andrea's and Lucas's home. As Dean drives us to their home, I started wondering myself. As we got there, we ran out of the car. Dean rings the doorbell. At that moment, Lucas opens the door, desperately afraid. "Lucas? Lucas!" Lucas takes off. Dean, Sam, and I follow him. Water is pouring out from under the bathroom door and down the stairs. Lucas starts pounding on the bathroom door again. Dean pushes him over to me and kicks in the door. Lucas grabs Dean, so Sam runs into the bathroom and sticks his arms in the tub, trying to pull Andrea out. She is pulled back under, but Sam keeps pulling until Andrea is all the way out. She starts coughing up water. Dean and I held onto Lucas until we knew it was safe. I was rubbing his head as Dean was holding us. I sure felt something in the house but I didn't know what it was. I looked at Dean all worried and he knew what I was thinking about. We all went downstairs to talk after Andrea got dressed. Sam was asking her questions while I was by the back window with Lucas, holding him. He was still shaken up, from what just happened with his mother. About 5 minutes later, Lucas had walked away from me and went to the door. "Lucas?" I called to him. Making the others look our way. Lucas had walked out the door, to the outside. I went after him with the others behind me. He took us into the woods and showed us a messed up dirt pile. I went to the ground and started moving the dirt around. It was a bike. Not just any bike though, the red bike from his drawings. It was Peter's bike. "How did you know that was there?" Jake had said. I turned around to look at him and he had a gun on us. "What happened? You and Bill killed Peter, drowned him in the lake and then buried the bike? You can't bury the truth, Jake. Nothing stays buried." Dean said. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about." Jake said. "You and Bill killed Peter Sweeney thirty-five years ago. That's what the hell I'm talking about." Dean told him, getting pissed. Andrea runs up. "Dad!" "And now you got one seriously pissed-off spirit." I had spoke, as I got up and stood next to Dean. "It's gonna take Andrea, Lucas, everyone you love. It's gonna drown them. And it's gonna drag their bodies God knows where, so you can feel the same pain Peter's mom felt. And then, after that, it's gonna take you, and it's not gonna stop until it does." I went on. "Yeah, and how do you know that?" Jake asked us. "Because that's exactly what it did to Bill Carlton." Sam told him. "Peter took his family and he's gonna do the same to you. He almost took Andrea tonight. He would have if we didn't get here in time to save her." "Listen to yourselves, both of you. You're insane." Jake says. "I don't really give a rat's ass what you think of us. But if we're gonna bring down this spirit, we need to find the remains, salt them, and burn them into dust. Now tell me you buried Peter somewhere. Tell me you didn't just let him go in the lake." Dean asked. As they were talking, I felt that feeling again. I looked over and saw Lucas on the dock leaning over grabbing something. "Lucas!" I yelled and took off. "Lucas!" I heard Dean yell as well. "Lucas! Baby, stay where you are!" His mother yelling. When I got to him, a hand comes up and pulls Lucas into the water. The others have reached the edge of the lake. Jake stops. Peter's head is visible; Jake recognizes him. Dean and Sam keep running to the end of the dock and dive in. "Oh my God!" Andrea screams. She takes off her jacket to jump in. I went to grab her to hold her. "Andrea, stay there with Heather!" Sam yells back. "No! Lucas!" "We'll get him! Just stay on the dock!" Sam yells back. Sam dives under again. Dean comes up. A minute later, so does Sam. Dean looks at Sam. Sam shakes his head. "Lucas, where are you?" Andrea calls out. Jake takes off his jacket as Sam and Dean dive back down. Jake wades in. Andrea and I looks over. "Peter, if you can hear me...please, Peter, I'm sorry. I'm so, I'm so sorry." Jake says. "Daddy, no!" Andrea cries. "Peter. Lucas... he's, he's just a little boy. Please, it's not his fault, it's mine. Please take me." Dean and Sam come up for air. Peter surfaces. "Just let it be over!" Jake said. Jake is dragged down. "Daddy! Daddy! No!" Andrea cries. I started to cry with her. I felt her pain. Dean and Sam dive down again. Sam comes up, shaking his head. Andrea mouths 'no!' Dean comes up, holding Lucas, who isn't moving. They swam towards the dock and I let go of Andrea and grabbed Lucas. I checked his breathing it was weak, so I started working CPR on him. I wanted to use my powers on him, but I wanted to do this the humanly way possible. After a few minutes of breathing into his mouth, he couched up water and looked at me. Andrea drops down next to me and grabs her son as I looked over at Sam and Dean, still in the water. I smiled a little at them. I helped them out of the lake and we all head towards the house. The boys dried off and changed clothes and we told our goodbyes to Andrea and Lucas before heading to the car. Lucas hugged both me and Dean, then Andrea kissed Dean on the cheek. I rolled my eyes and got into the car after rubbing Lucas's head. I was ready for a nap. I was tired and I bet the boys were too. We drove to the nearest hotel to get a room. When we got us a room, I went in and fell on a bed and passed out. All I know was Dean getting into bed with me, wrapping his around over me and I was out. * * * * * The next couple cases were crazy weird. There was this Phantom Traveler, going into people that were getting on planes and crashing them. Sam had made me and Dean get on one to test it out. Of course I sat in the middle between them. Sam was f*****g with Dean about flying. Dean was scared of height and it was kinda pissing me off Sam doing that to him. I grabbed Dean hand and leaned into him to calm him down. Almost falling asleep, Sam jerked my arm waking me up. I slapped him for doing that. "What dude?" I asked. "The same woman that was on the last plane, that survived, she's on this plane." Sam telling me and Dean. "She is, where?" Dean asked. "Back there. She just came out of the cockpit." Sam told us. Dean looks to the back of the plane to Amanda. "All right, well, I'll go talk to her, and, uh, I'll get a read on her mental state." Dean had said. "What if she's already possessed?" I had said. "There's ways to test that." Dean goes into his bag and comes out with a Virgin Mary-shaped bottle of water. "I brought holy water." "No." Sam snatches the bottle and tucks it inside his hoodie. "I think we can go more subtle. If she's possessed, she'll flinch at the name of God." "Oh. Nice." Dean says as he turns to go. "Hey." "What?" "Say it in Latin." Sam tells him. "I know." Dean hisses as he leaves again. "Okay. Hey!" "What?!" Dean hissed at him. "Uh, in Latin, it's "Christo"." Sam told him. "Dude, I know! I'm not an i***t!" Dean told Sam. "Are you sure, you act like it sometimes." I mumbled. He slaps the back of my head. "I heard that." Then walks away again. "You was suppose to, idiot." I said snickering. Sam joined me for a moment and then we leaned our head back. I closed my eyes and try to go back to sleep. "So you and Dean good?" He asked. I opened my eyes and looked at him. "Yea. We're fine." I said. "No, I mean are y'all good, as in together." "Oh, we're not an item, fully. We're just taking it slow." I said. Sam nodded and Dean came back and slumped in his seat. He nodded no at us, to tell us it wasn't her. I took a deep breathe. I took out my phone and it was about the time that the other planes crashed. I started thinking it wasn't on this plane. But then I had a bad feeling going on. That was when the copilot was walking passed us to go back into the cockpit. "Christo." I had said. He looked back towards us but not looking at us. His eyes were black. I jumped in my seat. "It's him." I said slapping both Sam and Dean at the same time. "Who?" They asked. "The copilot." I said as I took off my seat belt. I ran walk to the back where Amanda was at. Sam and Dean coming behind me. "Hi, the ride not to bumpy for you?" She asked Dean. He nodded at her. "Hi, can you do us a huge huge favor. Can you get the copilot back here for us. Please, we would love to talk to him." I had asked her. "How am I gonna do that?" She asked. "Tell him something is broken back here and you need his help." Dean said. She nodded and went upfront. We had only 15 minutes until we land. A few moments later Amanda and the copilot came to the back. Dean pouched him knocking him out. "Amanda, make sure no one comes back here please. We'll explained everything later." Sam told her. She nodded, then went through the curtain again. Dean sat on him holding his arms and I held his mouth shut so he couldn't yell out for help. "Hurry up, Sam. I don't know how much longer I can hold him." Dean told him. " Regna terrae, cantate Deo, psallite Domino." Sam was saying. The demon breaks free briefly and hits me and Dean both until Dean manages to subdue him again. Sam picks up where he left off. The demon knocks Dean off again and bites my hands. As he grabs Sam by the collar. "I know what happened to your girlfriend! She must have died screaming! Even now, she's burning!" The demon told Sam. Dean recovers and I hit the demon as Sam sits there, stunned. "Sam!" Both us said. Sam recovers and begins reading again. He puts the book down and helps Dean pin down the demon, who kicks the book up the aisle. "I got him." Sam says. The demon exits the copilot's body and disappears into a vent. "Where'd it go?" I said. " It's in the plane. Hurry up. We got to finish it." Dean said. The plane suddenly dips and heaves violently. Sam struggles to retrieve the book as Dean splays himself against the exit door, screaming. I was sent flying down the aisle grabbing a hold of Sam's hand as he reached out for me. As he done that, I manages to grab the book and give to Sam so he could read the rest of the exorcism. A bright electrical charge runs through the entire plane, which then levels out. Various people ask if everyone's okay. Amanda sighs in relief. I land hard on the floor while Dean comes out from behind the curtain. Sam and I stands up. Dean grabs me and hugs me. "You good?" He asked me. "I'll be good, once we land." I told him as we took our seats. We landed and got on another plane back to where we came from. Once we got back to the car, we found a hotel and went to bed. I fell asleep in the car, during the ride. The plane trip was crazy, expressly with Dean acting like a little chicken s**t. God I love him, but never again. When we got us a room, Dean woke me up and helped carry me into the room. I didn't want to get up from the car, I was too exhausted to move. From that case to; 'The Bloody Mary' was gee worse then the two cases before that. But hell they were distracting Sam from what had happened with Jessica. Until Bloody Mary herself had to speak of her. I was pissed off at her, I broke her owe mirror to see if that would help get rid of her. 'Cause she was hurting Sam from the pain and memories. Dean was holding him, trying not to cry himself. I grabbed a mirror and scream at Mary. "Hey b***h! Take a good look of yourself." I told her as I was holding the mirror up to her. She looked at herself and she changed to her old self until her new self killed her old self. Dean helped Sam to the car. He got into the back and laid down, while I got into the front. Dean took off to go to our next destination to where ever John wanted us to go. While Dean was driving, I turned around in the front seat, and leaned back towards Sam. I touched his face, while he was sleeping and healed him. Making him a lot better. When I turned back to the front, Dean looked at me and smiled. Of course I smiled back. "Thank you," Dean said. "Your welcome." I said. "I would have done it if it was the other way around as well. And the same for you guys to me. Which y'all have." I said as I was playing with my fingers. "Its not just that, though. Thank you for coming along to help find our father." Dean was saying. "You don't even know us that well. You had dropped your life to help us." Dean said as he turned to look at me. "Well, maybe... Me joining y'all, will help me more to find what or who I'm looking for as well. Like, like those two demons on our first case together. They knew my father." I was saying. "Dean, I know how it is, to find your father... " I tried to say. "I'm sorry, this is kinda hard to say." I told him. "No, I get it. Maybe you helping us find our father will help you learn about yours. Like you said. We all need answers in our life." Dean told me as he patted my leg. "And these distractions, cases, are helping same. Kinda." "Yea, I was thinking the same. Other than them bringing her up to him. That was wrong, but it didn't just happened to him either. I know how he feels. I've been in his boat with my parents." I told him. Sam and I are so much alike, we've lost people dearly to us right in front of us. And distractions ain't gonna help for long. Eventually, we're gonna want answers and that's exactly what John is doing. Maybe, just maybe. This will stop. Everything from falling out of place or the other way around. Who knows, really. Do you know? 'Cause I sure don't. At least not right now. But life moves on and we just have to live it for the time being. Well hope y'all like this so far. Tried to get 3 cases/episodes into on chapter. Will Dean and Sam help Heather, find her answers about her real father. Will Heather stay to help find John. Stay tune to the next chapter. Don't forget to comment and vote. Xoxoxo
