Pinewood

Mira's (POV)

The drive was long and boring even the sandwiches I had brought with me didn't keep me occupied and the songs dad played on the radio were boring and slow, I wound down my window feeling the cool breeze on my face as we drove through woodland with winding roads and the scent of pine heavy in the air. "How much longer?" I asked hoping not much as I desperately needed to pee, " another twenty mins sweetheart" he replied and I was grateful we were almost there. The trees around us only got thicker as we neared our destination which makes sense as they were called the Pinewood pack, the road got narrower to just the width of the car as we approached the main gates to the estate. Dad got out and pressed the buzzer on the gate and I faintly heard him telling someone who we were and why we were here before the big metal gates creaked and slowly started opening inwards, the narrow road went on another mile before it opened up and I finally saw the main house. It wasn't just big it was huge and a little like something you would see in a rustic magazine, mainly because it was all made of wood like a gigantic log cabin with large glass windows and truly stunning. As soon as dad stopped the car Infront of the house I hopped out and grabbed dad's case which was full of his papers to be signed by the alpha Luka Rendell who I had heard was quite notorious for being ruthless but as of yet we had never met so I couldn't judge.

I breathed in the cool autumn air and looked over the grassed area Infront of the house to see a couple of pups playing rough and tumble "let's go Mira they're waiting for us!" Dad called, I turned back to the large house reluctantly and followed dad up the steps. The double wooden doors opened before we reached them and standing there was a tall bulky man with a stern look on his face and a fair bit of scruff on his chin as if he had not shaven in days, "we are here to see alpha Luka!" "I know why your here follow me" the man interrupted standing aside to allow us in. Dad moved past him and with the man's eyes burning into my neck I followed into the large hallway, several rooms led from it and a large staircase led up to the first floor, the scruffy looking man closed the door and brushed past me with a bit of vigor and I was about to say something when a woman's voice chirped in " be kind to our guests won't you Diaz darling, wouldn't want our new friends feeling unwelcome now would we?" Said a young dark skinned woman appearing from one of the rooms, she was short but very slim and her long brown hair reached her waist. " Hello I'm Evan and this is my daughter Mira" dad said holding out his hand to the woman who took it gracefully " I'm Tia and I am the beta of this pack and yes before you say it I know I am a woman but believe me when I tell you this no woman or man in this pack is better at my job than me" she stated as she shook dad hand hard before turning to shake mine, her big brown eyes were full of warmth but hard at the same time. "I think there and then I admired her and wanted to get to know this woman after all it wasn't easy for a woman to become a beta and earn respect the way she seemed to have". The scruffy man now known as Diaz said " don't worry they are in capable hands" as he turned to walk up the stairs "Nice to meet you both" said Tia as nodded her head an she walked into another room. After our small introduction and the toilet stop I desperately needed we made our way upstairs to what I could only think would be the alpha's office but in the back of my mind I could hear my wolf whimpering and even though I put her to the back of my thoughts she was still there and she was uneasy, I didn't like it one bit but this was for the good of both pack that was why we were here and a bit of winging was not going to stop progress" or so I thought". Diaz walked down a long corridor and dad an I followed silently behind passing a couple of men that kept their eyes down not looking at us, when we finally reached a door at the end up a couple of stairs of its own and Diaz was just about to knock when I felt a rush of power from behind the door and my wolf went quiet.
