Jordan's POV
Sitting outside the room that doc had her placed in was like watching the world move slowly around me. I didn't feel this way with the previous bond, not being near Miranda wasn't as.... unpleasant, as it is being just a few feet away from Cassandra.
Miranda too had blue eyes, but nothing compared to the icy storm swirling in this woman's eyes when she looks at you. My brother will regret what he has lost, I am just glad she didn't seem to feel the pain of the broken bond between her and Zachary. That's the only good thing about it.
Her kid, Silas, seemed just as ti I'd as she is, and me nor my wolf Jed liked that. He was older than my nephew Tyler and seeing how jittery he was around people troubled my soul. Moreover, the way he was when he saw Cassandra was...well that also did something to me. Don't know what, can't figure it out yet but can't wait until I do.
I took in a deep breath, her scent coming through from the cracks of the closed door calmed me some.
Unknowingly I began purring, my wolf Jed and I relaxed just with her scent so close. I really didn't think the Goddess would bless us with another mate after what happened with our first. We assumed Selene, would be too mad at us.
After what happened with our baby sister Brooklyn, we thought she was done with us. My sister's untimely death nearly seven years ago and her coming back just short of two years later was a lot, even for a Goddess as powerful as the Moon Goddesss.
I'm just playing once we get Cassandra and her son to a better state and healthier living situation, that we can move forward with our bond. I didn't want to say it then but when she said she wouldn't be able to mark someone, that isn't true.
Being born of werewolf genes, whether you get a wolf or not you will always be able to mark your fated mate. Her canines will slip out when she is ready for that step.
A scream made me jump, I was on my feet in half a second and bursting through the door Cassandra and her son were in. "What happened?" I asked, looking around but found no danger.
"I-I am," Cassandra cleared her throat as she sat up on the hospital cot, her son laying in the other next to her as they had the beds moved up next to the other. "I am sorry, Alpha Jordan, I had a bad dream. I apologize for startling you."
I looked at her small form sitting on the bed, her arms wrapped around her legs as she gazed at everything but me. "Jordan, no need for titles when you are my destiny." I couldn't help but remind her of what she and I was now.
Deep down she had to feel something, a small spark or two?
"I should try and rest. I'm sorry again, sir." I sighed and nodded my head. I picked up the blanket from the chair I was seated in, it was draped over the chair as a sort of cushion, but it really didn't help. I walked back into the room and cautiously approached Cassandra. Her beautiful stormy grey eyes followed my every move.
I stepped up beside her son and fixed his blanket and tucking it under his chin, a sharp breath left her as I flung the blanket around and over her shoulders. It had my scent on it, so it would help her sleep better.
Cassandra tensed up, thinking I was going to hurt her or something, then relaxed as I adjusted it around her small frame. I then tucked some of her dark locks behind her ear and smiled. "I'll be right outside." I murmured and she looked up at me.
She had her lips pressed in a thin line but order her head at me. "thank you" she whispered softly.
I felt the tether from my brother pulling in my head, I nodded once more and left her room. I allowed my brother to come through the link.
"Found him." Levi said with a grunt.
"Tell him what she told us. Get him to see reason."
As pissed as I was at Zachary, the three of us will always share a mate. Something to do with our parents being the first trio couple since the very first werewolves. It was confusing and odd to think about us brothers sharing one woman.
But in reality, it is similar to being in a polygamist relationship. So it isn't unheard of.
"I can try, but you know he is every bit of mom. Never listens.." He grumbled and cut the link.
*****
I seemed to have dozed off and was awoken by a scream, coming from the room my mate was in.
Another nightmare probably.
I got up and rubbed my eyes and turned to open the door. "Mom, wake up. It's alright, he is gone now. He can't hurt us anymore." Her son, Silas begged as he pushed. on her shoulder.
I sighed and went around to the other side of her bed. I softly ran my fingers through her raven black hair. Her hair was wavy and so soft. An audible purr left her and it made my heart flutter. Her mind began to slowly calm down, when Silas realized I helped take her mind off what was troubling her, he relaxed and eased back over to his bed.
I raked my finger once more though her soft hair, before taking a seat by her bed. "You won't hurt her?" he murmured. "Because I've been taking karate lessons, and I can kick your butt if you try to hurt my mom."
I chuckled. "I've no doubt, little man." I winked at him and he puffed his chest out some. "Besides, I wouldn't dream of harming your mom. She's my mate, do you know what that means, Silas?" he slowly shook his head as he moved his gaze from me to the bed he was on. "That's okay, as we get to know you and Cassandra we can help answer anything you want to know. Sound good?" Silas smiled a crooked smile and gave me a nod.
I smiled at him, his hair a hot mess and I knew he needed a bath. He would beable to sleep better if he took one.
"Would you like a bath, Silas? You still have blood in your hair." I asked him with a raised eyebrow. He glanced at Cassandra and bit his lip.
"Yes sir, but I don't want to leave my mama." I smiled at that. He's so protective of his mother, that made my wolf purr in delight.
I pointed to the bathroom that was in this room, I had asked Uriel to place them in the biggest room with the bathroom. "That door there leads to a bathroom, I can leave it open for you if you want to still keep an eye on her?" i told the boy.
"I can ask my dad to bring some clothes for you and your mom while you clean up. I made sure there was soap and shampoo in there before you guys were moved." He nodded and got up from the bed and went for the bathroom.
He stopped just at the door and turned back to me. "Thank you Alpha..."
I smiled at him. "You can call me Jordan, and my brother with the dark hair like your mom's? That's Levi." he came back over and surprised me when he hugged me. "Thank you again Alpha Jordan, you aren't mean like my daddy." I closed my eyes and returned the hug. I couldn't imagine growing up in a household that only showed hate and betrayal.
"Go get cleaned up before your mom wakes up, and thinks I did something to you" I motioned with my head over to the bathroom. He smiled again and ran off to the bathroom.
