Chapter Two

1966 Words
Cassandra's POV I didn't feel anything when he rejected me. Was I supposed to? The only thing that hurt was the realization of my dead ex-boyfriend's lies. He told me he was my mate. He was twenty when I met him at fifteen. As a teenage girl I was so excited to find out that my mate had found and wanted him despite knowing she was half human, he didn't seem to care. Now that this man that had long stormed out of the room had rejected me, and I could clearly see the pain behind his green eyes, I knew he wasn't lying when he said it. I just want to know why he did it? Why did he feel so broken that he felt he had to reject me before even knowing who I was? It hurt, but nowhere near as bad as it should have, had I been blessed with a wolf. "Where is my son?" I asked the man that looked like he was a doctor. "He is fine, just down the hallway in another room resting." He assured me. "I want to go to him." I got up from the floor but winced and doubled over as I clutched my side. The man in the scrubs came over and moved me back until I was seated on the bed. I got out of it when I woke up because I did not know where I was. "You have a few ribs that need time to heal, Miss. So please, I know you are worried about your boy, but you need to think of yourself too, you have been severely beaten and need time to rest." He was sweet about it but he scolded me sweeter than the doctors back at home in the Forest Pack did, they would patch me up and send me on my way with some pain pills. "He is all I have in this world. Please just let me see my son, I need to know his father didn't hurt him too badly with my own eyes." I pleaded with the older man and he turned and gazed back at the two men still standing in the doorway with the same green eyes as the one that rejected me. "Alpha? Do I have your permission?" My brows furrowed. I had no idea what he was asking them permission for. And it wasn't until he called him Alpha as well that I realized what part of the Black Jewel pack I had landed in. I came this way because I knew my dad was a great ally with the older generation. But being here now in front of what I assume are the other two Alpha's here. Alpha's Jordan, Levi and Zachary Nichols-Evans. Sons to the strongest couple in this part of the USA, and also part Warlock, who have multiple magical powers each, along with the sister pack who is ran by their cousin Caleb Blackwell. They both nodded once and the man helped me stand back up, but slower than I did both times before. I held my side as he tucked me close to his side so that I wouldn't topple over and I was very grateful for that. He had gentle hands for a doctor, I wasn't used to that either. "You are a very brave young woman, miss Cassandra." The older gentleman told me as he rubbed my arm in a kind gesture. "When we get back to your room, can I ask you exactly how you sustained all your injuries?" I sighed, I knew that once I killed Silas' father and ran into another pack territory looking like this with my child, they would have questions. "Only if I can stay with, Silas. Please, he's my kid and I can't..." I couldn't let him know too much too soon, so I trailed off. It's obvious with the small things I have said already and with the marks on my body what had happened, but as a rogue on their land I get the reason as to why they need to know what happened. "Kensington? Are you Alpha Otis' daughter?" I closed my eyes as one of the Alpha's behind me asked. I looked behind me to see who it was. The one with black hair like mine raised an eyebrow at me. "Yes, sir. But not Luna, Margo's daughter. I'm the product of too much weed and a one-night stand between my dad and a human prostitute in the local town." I sighed deeply, I looked just like her and my father hated me for it. However, I was very grateful to Luna Margo because she loved me. She never had kids and always wanted one. Yes she hated how I came about but still cared for me as if I was her own daughter. "When Luna Margo died and it was only dad left, he got less mellow around me, and more angry. He never hit me, thankfully, but he was verbally abusive to me and blamed me all the time for my mother's death, a car accident I didn't cause." "He always seemed like a nice man, always smiling around us at the meetings and everything. But he never mentioned having a kid." The blonde one mentions. It made sense he didn't tell people about me, he never wanted me, only kept me around because his wife wanted me. Once she died and George showed up, he all but threw me out the door and into that man's arms, his teenage daughter at that. "Wait, you said his wife died, nobody heard. When was this?" The blonde asked another question. Seems like the interview started before I even got to see my baby. "To answer your first one, I'm my father's dirty little secret, why would he share that with the other packs?" I raised a brow as I carefully pulled away from the kind doctor and faced the two large men standing before me now. "And I was fifteen when she died, a few months later a man named George showed up saying I was his mate. Apparently he lied to my dad and me about that." I chewed on my fingernail hoping they wouldn't ask about him. Growls left them both and I jumped, not liking the sound of it. George always growled at me when he was mad, he has made me fear the very sound I have lived around my entire life. "S-Sorry," I murmured. "No, we are sorry, that is our fault." The dark-haired one stepped closer. "You see we only growled because you said that man claimed he was your mate. Well, our wolves don't like it when someone is trying to claim what is rightfully theirs." He let his fingers gently graze my cheek and as much as I wanted to flinch away, the tingles I felt in his touch told me not to. Him too? Will he reject me like his brother Zachary did? He probably would. Who wants a mate, a Luna who can't defend herself, but something in me wished he wouldn't. "My name is Levi," he nodded his head at his brother. "That is Jordan, and you already know who the other i***t is." Jordan came over and before he even touched me I felt the electricity flow through my skin, goosebumps rose all over me when he grazed a faint mark on my arm, the hair standing at attention due to both him and Levi's touch. "I killed my mate only to get three more?" Someone ran their hand through my hair and it made me weak in the knees, but when they growled again the gasp that left me made me feel a little dizzy. I staggered a bit, then caught myself on the arm that Levi had placed on my shoulder. He pushed my hair aside and his eyes somehow shined just a little bit brighter. "He never marked you, he claimed to be your mate, but never marked you?" "He said since I couldn't mark him he didn't want to mark me." I looked away from him. It sounded naive of me to actually believe him. To believe he wanted to do that only because I couldn't return the favor to him was foolish and dumb. I feel stupid now that I had told someone out loud why I wasn't marked by my son's father. I loved him and hung on to every word he told me. How dumb was I to think that a man actually cared about me, he probably didn't do it so that he could fool around with others and me not know about it. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you, Cassandra. I can see you still love him. I won't be upset over that." Levi smiled. "So as my brother Zachary said, we will find out who did this. Now we know and we now know that the person is dead. It is a relief. But not for you, so I want you, when you are ready, of course, to tell this fine man here, Doctor Uriel Jarvis, everything that happened so that we can call your father and report everything back to him. And if you want, you can either return home or stay here if you choose." The fact that he wanted to call my father and tell him what happened to me is terrifying. I never told him what George was doing to me. I would bring Silas by every Saturday just so they could bond. My boy loves his grandfather and I hated that I had to separate them because of that vile man. "Do you have to tell him? About us? What are we, me, you, him and your other brother I mean? I didn't accept his rejection, so the bond is still there." Jordan, the one with dirty blonde hair, came over and placed his hand on Levi's shoulder. "We will take care of that i***t, don't you worry your pretty little head about it. And as for your dad, no, he doesn't have to know a thing. If you don't want us to tell him about us being your real fated mates, then that's fine with us. We can wait to tell him, but I do want to see you rub it in his face one day. If you give me that." He smirked at me, and if I didn't feel like my face was so swollen and puffed up I probably would have blushed. Who looks pretty looking the way I do right now? He was just saying that to make me feel better, and it's working a little. "Mama!" I heard Silas scream behind me. I turned around so fast I felt my broken bones grate against each other. My lips quivered as I saw my baby boy's face, damn that man for putting his hands on him. That was my breaking point. "Come hereSi," I held my side tightly in my left hand as I jogged towards my son and he ran at full speed towards me. I braced myself for his impact before he had a chance to hit me. When he did, he knocked us both to the ground and I bit my tongue as I held back my scream of agony. He held me tightly and I let out a sob as I wrapped both of my shaking arms around him. I didn't care for the pain, I let it invade me as I held my lifeline. Silas is and will always be the one person in this whole world I knew would never leave me and would always love me no matter what I did wrong in this life. He was the perfect son.
