(Elizabeth's POV)
We were out in the training ring with the kids, and Rafael. We were putting out theory to work, and I had no idea where he had that kind of power, but Tessa was the one that had been worn down enough the others still fought with the beast inside them. Rafael called his wolf and the power that poured from him was intense. I could even feel Alex fight from kneeling, the kids all suddenly stood at attention looking right at Rafael. He walked toward them and they all ducked their heads, not looking at him.
"Wolf!" He got up in Tessa's face, and it looked right back at him.
"Alpha!" she shouted and the others shouted in unison with her.He made Tessa look him in the eyes.
"You think you are all powerful for taking over these children, you're nothing without them, if this continues to be a problem, you are all dead!"
He yelled at Tessa, she flinched, but didn't move to do anything else. I thought it was a little harsh but the wolf needed to know what was at stake.
Rafael then looked at Aaron, Alex went tense next to me, I knew what was about to happen.
"Phase."Rafael said firmly, Aaron looked at Alex then at me, then back at Rafael.
"I can't."
"You sure about that, no you fear what you don't know, now phase!"
Aaron, just stood there, then Rafael turned to Tessa, and said the same to her, nobody could do it.
"Pitiful, and yet you claim great power when you clearly have none!"
Suddenly Aaron dropped to his hands and knees, groaning and gasping,, then turned into screaming. He started to sprout fur and claws, his bones cracking and twisting into different form. Rafael, poured more of his power out onto Aaron it it seemed to help ease the pain a bit, until finally a light gray wolf, laid in front of us, breathing heavy and shaking.
"Aaron." Rafael said kneeling in front of him, he growled lightly and opened his eyes to look at Rafael, then carefully got on all fours, and shook off the remaining aches and pops of his new form.
He then walked to Alex who, gave him a nod of approval, and he wagged his tail, he was still so small he looked like a puppy.
"Anyone else willing to try, and phase?"
Tessa stepped forward and she started to phase too, hers didn't take as long, she took looked so small and her wolf was almost white, but was a very light gray. pretty soon all of them had phased all different shades of colors. Then Rafael phased too and they all turned to him, the boys seemed eager to challenge him, and a couple did, but it wasn't serious by the end Rafael had made them submit to him. Both Alex and I were a little more relaxed now that it was over, but I was having Rafael help me with the kids from now on.
"SO how does it feel like having your own, fan club?"
Rafael chuckled humorlessly, but turned to look at the kids.
"I've never wanted to take this kind of responsibility it has nothing with me not liking kids, Liz, there's just too much to lose, when you have too many people to care about."
"I can see what you mean, you put your heart into a pack."
"To lose one is like having your soul ripped out."
I looked at Aaron he wasn't looking at me, but I understood what my brother meant.
"Anyway, I just hope these kids don't expect me to challage your husband, I really don't want to go there."
I smiled and he excused the kids, leaving me and Aaron alone, he glanced up at me, then came closer.
"How's Tomas?"
"He'll be home tomorrow."
"Oh, cool."
Aaron ducked his head, like he was fighting himself from doing something, glanced at me, and then turned to walk away.I took a hold of his hand before he could get too far from me, and he stopped not looking at me.
"Aaron." I said his hand going tight around mine, he started to tremble, then when he finally turned to look at me, he had tears in his eyes.
"Mama..I'm sorry!" I hugged him to me and he hugged me back tightly, crying in heart wrenching sobs. I'd been watching him, and how much he was fighting to be the heartless spy, they sent back to us, but my little boy was to kind hearted to let that happen. I held him for a while, my tears also falling from my eyes onto his head. Until I pulled him away a little, to look at him.
"You saved him, Aaron, you saved your little brother and for that I will always thank you."
He gave me a small smile, and nodded, hugging me again. After a while we both headed back to the village, excited to welcome Tomas back home.
(Spy's POV)
As the boy walked away with the Luna I felt angered they had sent that little punk to kill the Alpha, and he was falling right back in line with them. I quickly got down from the trees and headed to report what I saw, Alpha Anthony wasn't going to be happy about this. When I got to our camp Anthony was already in a foul mood, as always. So I walked in with caution, his eyes burned into me with anger as he waited to hear my report.
"The boy has been turned, I just saw him with the Luna, and it seems he's fallen back in line with them."
Anthony roared with anger, as he threw something, then grabbed the uncle by the neck.
"You told me he was ready to go in there without a problem, so what the hell is he doing?!"
"What we trained him to do, he's in favor with one of the targets, that's our way in as well."
The uncle's words seemed to calm my Alpha, and he let the uncle go.
"I hope for your sake it's true."
The uncle bowed and my Alpha turned back to me.
"Go back and continue to report, that little bastard is either with us or will die with them!"
I bowed my head and headed back to spy on the Alpha and his pack.
(Alexander's POV)
After seeing the kids phase for the first time, with Rafael's help, it made me want to explore what Elizabeth could do, but either she wasn't as in tuned with her powers or unwilling to dig into them, once we had Tomas back home we started to dig into that those powers, and for some reason she always ended with a nose bleed, Cora explained it was the amount of physical effort it was taking, either she was fighting it that much or it was buried that deeply.
I had talked to Cora and had convinced her to stay a few more days, she and Elizabeth got to work on unburying her power, according to Cora, Rafael had shown only a glimpse of what a pure werewolf's power really is, they weren't even close to their full potential. They worked and worked to get Elizabeth maybe even close to what Rafael was doing, but she's come back tired out and weak. I also was keeping a better eye on Aaron, he was a little more a home now, but I felt like the other shoe was going to drop at some point, call me paranoid but it was just a feeling.
My little Tomas was slowly recovering, he was in crouches, but that didn't really stop him from going outside and playing, we always made sure not to let them go anywhere near the forest, for now. Things I felt were finally great between me and Elizabeth, I had missed the small touches and smiles we'd share, like we had a inside joke of some kind, the small kisses that later became hot and passionate in the bedroom, and just knowing she was looking out for me as much I was for her.
Life wasn't all sun shines and rainbows, but that's what made it all worth it.
(Elizabeth's POV)
The new training Alex and Cora had me doing was to be able to command wolves on my own. I asked for Own and Elijah, they were the newer members of our pack and the youngest, and in my mind a little more with their guard down, I was so wrong, their wolves were strong and even when I used my Luna connection it barely moved them, Rafael was impressive and I wanted to try and be more like that, but even he had to kick me while I was down, when he said maybe because I'm female I don't have the same power. He made me mad, the ass.
I kept pushing myself, hoping to get there with more practice. Then one afternoon Cora had left me on my own, and I focused on some one of the pack, if they came that meant it had worked if not, then I needed to work harder. It was the later nobody came, I was just giving up when I turned and found Alex standing a ways behind me.
"How long have you been standing there?"
"just a few minutes."
I felt self conscious, around Alex lately, he made it sound like Rafael and I were the most powerful things walking on earth, but I was proving I wasn't.The moment he walked into a place every head turned to look at him, apart from the fact that he was beautiful, the power he held was breath taking, but then again once you knew him you realized that didn't matter to him, he's been honored to have that power and he uses it for good, not to e*****e others, those around him either respected him or they feared him.
"Why can't I make this work, you and Rafael make it look so effortless?"
"I have had a lot of practice, as has your brother being a second is just as demanding as being an Alpha, what you need to focus on is not commanding your people, Elizabeth, but to give them peace."
"But how, I don't have peace for myself how can I give them that?"
He walked up close to me and wrapped me in a hug.
"What do you feel, when I hug you?"
"Your ego doesn't need to get any bigger."
"Just go along with me what do you feel, with me, with our family?"
I searched my mind, and thinking what I felt when I was first accepted by the three of our pack, I had felt at home, welcomed. Having him as my mate, and then having our babies just completed me in a way I hadn't felt in a long time. I pushed that energy out toward him, and I felt him gasp suddenly, and he held on to me tighter, then he looked down at me and I could see his wolf peeking out.
"Mate." he said in a low growl, then slowly his eyes were Alex again, then he kissed me.
"That was it." he said as he pulled away.
"What was?"
"What you just did, that's your power, beautiful, that's what you give to those around you."
For some reason I was a little disappointed, I had power but not for what I needed it for. I guess he read my expression, because he smiled and took my hands in his and kissed them both.
"It's not always about being the bully love, but also the peace maker, you give peace to those around you after I have already scared them shitless."
I had to laugh at him, but I guess I had to accept my role and hope it was strong enough to help when needed.
"I hope you're right."
On that note we headed back home and I helped with dinner.
