Chapter 7: Found in Coincidence

*MURPHY ADERSON* I was unable to describe what I feel as Mommy Tessie called and informed me that Muwin went missing. For the first time, I felt fear not only because my brother was just 8 years old but because he was not familiar with the city. Recently, by searching for Wavina, I neglected to visit him. So he ran away. Finding him should be a piece of cake if he didn't block his dragon scent. Now, we were searching crazily the entire city for two people.  Night came already, but we couldn't still find him. Until my feet brought me to the market where one of a young cigarette's boy vendor I asked recognised the portrait of my brother that I showed to him. And I was about to go insane when he said my brother was taken away by a lady after being attacked by a man. "Here, it was him." The boy vendor pointed to the man in a stall of fried chicken. Having a food stall outside the market at night was not unusual because the Market here at San Agustin City was open 24/7. "I can only send you 'till here. Be careful of them!" The boy vendor added. "Wait!" I called him as he was about to leave. I brought my wallet out from my pocket and took a 1000 peso bill. "Here take it!" The boy vendor looked at me wonderingly as he asked, "What is that for?"  "A small tip." "No. No. I can't accept that." He said, waving his hand.  "I insist." I said emotionless. "Okay. Thank you." As the boy vendor left, I faced the direction where the man vendor of fried chicken was. He was 15 meters away from me. Actually, I could have let this matter slip but I don't want to. I would surely give a lesson to those who harmed the people I care about. "Boss, do you want to buy fried chicken? Here, this is all yummy." The vendor said as I came over to the stall.  "Is that yummier than your flesh?" I asked, staring at him vacuously.  "Boss, you must be joking." He faked a smile.  "Do I?"  "Boss, if you don't want to buy, then go away. You are blocking my luck." He shouted at me. My stares became sharper as he casted me away and even yelled at me which was another thing that I hate.  How dare he? If he wasn't a human, I already broke his neck.  Without diverting my eyes, I showed Muwin's picture to him. "Did you meet him?"  "Oh so you are here for that little thief." He ridiculed. "Say that again!" I glared.  "What? Are you asking trouble? If you don't know, this is my place. Brothers, come out. There's someone asking for fun out here." Later, one by one, a group of villains appeared in the area and surrounded me with a devious grin on their faces.  "Hey buddy, you look rich. Give us your money and we will spare your life." Said by a dwarf guy then they laughed.  "Spare?" I smirked. "You should worry about your own little life." "Don't talk with him. Go, give that bastard a lesson." Yelled by the fried chicken stall vendor. And so, they followed him. They positioned themselves to charge at me, holding different weapons for beating while I just stood up still and closed my eyes. I could feel their presence and hear their heartbeats. It was getting louder as they were getting closer.  All of a sudden, as their weapons were about to get in contact with my body, a strong blow of wind threw them away. I didn't need to open my eyes, I knew it was Dusk and my dark guards who came and leaped on them.  Due to fear, they retreated and ran off in pain, leaving the stall in a mess.  Dusk approached me, "Murphy, how could you get into trou-" "Quiet!" I cut in.  I asked Dusk not to talk because I heard Muwin's voice. He used his telepathy skill to communicate with me.  "Brother, help. Sister and I are in danger. A group of bad guys barged inside the sister's house. They robbed things here and I sensed them planning ill to sister. Please, brother. After this, I swear I will be good." Muwin said. Finally, he unblocked his dragon scent. "It's Muwin! They are in danger. Follow me." I blurted out then left the market in just a blink of an eye.  We tailed Muwin's scent and it brought us into a small house. As we arrived, we heard noises from inside. Like, they were fighting. 'Oh no! Are we late?' I asked my mind. Due to worry, I jumped on the gate and then to the window, and hopped on directly to the man who was holding a knife and about to stab the girl lying on the floor. The man flew and fell unconscious while my dark guards caught the man's men.  As Muwin called my name and ran over to hug me, my eyes landed to the girl lying on the floor. I was shocked to recognise who she was but I didn't show it. "Hi, You finally found me." She said as she smiled at me.  My forehead wrinkled as I watched her immensely. 'Finally found her? What does she mean?  Is she telling me that she has been hiding from me?'  Wavina stood up and dusted her palms and clothes to get rid of the imaginary dirt. "Brother, I'm sorry." Muwin said as he looked up on me. I also looked at him and his eyes were filled with remorse. "It's fine. Thank God, you're okay." I said while examining his body and then hugged him tightly. If something bad really happened to him, I would not be able to forgive myself. "Thank you for saving us." Wavina butt in. I motioned Dusk to get Muwin so I could have a serious talk with Wavina.  When Dusk reached out Muwin off from me, Wavina stopped him. "Hey, hey where are you going to bring the kid?" "Don't worry sister. They were my brother." Muwin said as he followed Dusk at the side. "Brother? Biological brother?" Wavina asked in surprise.  "Brother Murphy, yes. Brother Dusk is not but I treated him as my brother." "Impossible. How could you-how could you -" "How could he, what?" I inserted on a casual voice. Cold.  "You seem to know each other. Did the two of you meet before?" Muwin asked curiously again.  "Yes." I replied without shifting my sight from her who was shocked to know I and Muwin were brothers. "Muwin, play with brother Dusk first." "Come Muwin, let's go to the yard." Dusk said as he assisted Muwin out.  "What a coincidence!" Wavina exclaimed as she forced a smile.  "Can we talk?" I asked her. "Aren't we talking already?" She replied.  I sighed inaudibly. Though her voice didn't mean to sound like mocking but the words did. Or maybe it was just my thinking.  I stared at her eyes but she avoided meeting mine. I suddenly realised what she meant as she said I finally found her. I guessed she knew all along that we were searching for her. "Why did you hide from us?" I asked. "Hide? Why would I hide?" She replied, looking anywhere. "Then why can't you look at me in my eyes?"  "I--I just feel improper to do that." She stammered. I could tell she was tense. Without her awareness, she has been squeezing her hands because of it.  "Nevermind if you don't tell. But gladly, you're fine. Why do you always get into trouble?" "Maybe I was born with bad luck." She joked. "Anyway thank you for coming. I'm just wondering, how did you find us?"     "Who am I? I have a lot of ways." I lied. Of course I could not tell the truth. I was afraid it would scare her.  "You're right. With your influence, it was not unusual. But you choose the right time huh." "What? Are you doubting me?"  "Why don't we sit first?" She said, offering to sit on the couch.  As we both were sitting already, she spoke, "I didn't mean that. I was actually thankful you came. If not, I don't know what happened to us. By the way, do you want anything to drink?"  "Don't bother. I won't stay long anyway. I still had a lot of matters to attend to later." "Oh I see. By the way why are you looking for me?" She said while pouring water in a glass of water and drank it up.  "Come to work with me." I said directly.  I didn't know how my words startled her, but the water she took sputtered on my face.  "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She said in panic while coughing and grabbing something to wipe me.  I raised my hand to stop her. "It's fine. No need for you to bother." I took a tissue from the table and wiped myself. "You scared me." She said.  I stopped wiping myself and gazed at her, furrowing my brows. "How did my words scare you?"  "I thought it was something serious." She smiled mysteriously.  "Like how?" One of my eyebrows lifted up. "Nothing. Nothing." "So?"c "So?" She repeated.  "Your answer." "Is that really the only reason you searched for me?" She asked curiously.  "What else do you think?"  She just smiled as a response.  "So, tell me your answer." "Why did you change your mind? Didn't you don't like me?" She asked again.  I sighed. So many questions. "We have a lot of misunderstanding and I apologise for that. But I was sincere this time in asking you to work with me." "What made you change your mind?" She was really stubborn. So annoying. Why need to know the reason? But I remained calm. "I just realised after you left, you are capable. Because you are different. Unlike others, they are scared to talk to me like you did. Afraid to offend me. But you weren't and that impressed me. That means you have guts and confidence in yourself which are good to work." Whoahh? I'm impressed with myself too. When did the last time I explained my action to someone? I didn't remember because it seemed like none. "Was that your reason to blacklist me from another company?"  "What? Excuse me?" I was surprised by her question. "Blacklist you? When did I do that?"  She smirked. "Well, it's getting late Mr. Aderson. I'm afraid I had to ask you to leave. About your offer, can I think of it?"  Was she still mad for what happened last time? Well, I couldn't blame her. Thinking of it, it was actually too rude. "Alright. Take your time to think. The position will wait for you." "Thanks." She nodded. "Then I will send you out." "Okay" "Sister, will we meet again?" Muwin asked as we were about to leave.  Wavina crouched and rumbled his hair, "I think we will." She said then smiled sweetly. "Yeahey!" Muwin exclaimed and jumped on her for a hug. "I will miss you sister." "Me too!" "Enough Muwin. I'm pretty sure, in the future you have a lot of time to see her." I interrupted.  "Why?" Muwin asked as he looked up at me. "I will bring you often to the office if your sister will start work for us." Muwin's face brightened as he heard what I said. He was so happy. "Really? That is great." He faced back Wavina. "Sister, is it true?"  Wavina scratched her head. She was hesitant to give Muwin a response. Probably, she didn't want to ruin Muwin's happy expectation so she nodded.
