The remaining kings from the seven seas, came and went. Each meeting was positive and we were able to ally ourselves with all of the ocean kingdoms.
The meeting with Vampires would be much more contentious. We were naturally sworn enemies, but we looked to ally ourselves. The humans were proving to be more of a threat than we had anticipated.
King Cassisus arrived first. At every meeting prior, he went on a tour of the kingdom, then the day of meeting, followed by a party in his honor. He had still found his mate and we had heard it had made him temperamental.
From reading up on vampires, I have learned their Goddess is also our Goddess, Selene. It was very interesting that we were all the children of the same Goddess, but it also made sense. Siblings can be quite hostile towards one another.
My exhaustion continued to weigh me down and I continued to fight through it. I was stressed and very worried about how our meeting would go with them. We needed these treaties with them.
King Cassius was able to walk in the sun after he met Goddess Selene in death. She granted him life in another form.
It was odd to see him. He looked very odd. His skin was paste white and his eyes glowed red. His fangs were noticeable as soon as he smiled. One thing that really bothered me was he was very handsy. Upon introduction, he had taken my hand and kissed it. He also drew in a deep breath. I think he was smelling me!
My husband growled and I shot them a dirty look. We didn’t need things to go hostile already.
I was not comfortable being alone with him, so I took my personal guard with me.
King Cassius was very intrigued by our Kingdom. He was very interested in how we managed to merge the Werewolves and the Lycans. It was a very grotesque story that I wasn’t terribly fond of.
Luckily, things went without incident. Now, we just need tomorrow to go smoothly.
Sleep again evaded me.
Morning came all too quickly. Exhaustion was taking over, but sleep wasn’t an option. There was much to be done today. My nerves were still consuming me about the meeting with the vampires.
We had an abundance of a special blood wine available for him to drink since our normal offerings were available due to his diet.
King Cassius showed up 15 minutes early. We welcomed him and got him seated and comfortable.
My Kings came in not long after. I had sent them a mind link telling them to hurry up.
They each greeted each other. I couldn’t see any tension, so there was a small win for the day.
As per our conversations with the other kingdoms, we started off by explaining the situation. King Cassius’ full attention was being consumed by what was being said. We had his full attention.
Once everything was explained, we paused to wait for King Cassius to speak.
“I see. What a conundrum this is. This is quite an interesting situation as well. I have seen the Phoenix Dragons. I have been alive for nearly 2500 years. I can still recall when they flew in the skies. I must say, when the royals perished, I was saddened by the loss. They were quite a unique species. If my memory serves me, there was a Phoenix Dragon protecting the royals prior to his demise. I’m very interested in meeting this young lady. I will be able to tell by her blood as to whom her ancestors are.”
“I will speak with her guardian about bringing her here. My seer may be able to teleport them here for a day.” I responded. My nerves were still on edge, but at this point I was cranky about everything. And the smallest things stressed me out. My Kings were worried about me losing it at some point soon.
I called for my seer. Her response was prompt. She agreed to contact Ember and bring her here. Seconds later, she disappeared.
“Very interesting,” said King Cassius.
“May I ask what has you intrigued you?”
“Why yes, little one. I have never seen a seer. They are usually kept under safe guard, but yours, I can sense her power. She is strong. I can see why you do not worry about her safety as she could take out a continent should she so choose.”
His words surprised me. I never considered how powerful she was, but considering she was blessed by the Moon Goddess to foresee prophesies and protect the kingdom, she would have to be.
I was thankful our seer was wise and kind. Some allow power to corrupt their hearts.
We talked for several more hours and lunch was brought up. As we completed our meal, our seer was back notifying us she would be teleporting to get Ember and Dante within the hour.
I was thankful Dante trusted us enough to bring her here. Even if it was only for a few hours.
Dragons were peaceful people. They didn’t deal with the rivalries we had with the vampires.
Our conversation went on for another half an hour when there was a knock at the door.
Our seer opened it without waiting long. She had Ember and Dante with her. Ember eyed the room with wide eyes. I couldn’t help but giggle. She was mesmerized by the etchings on the ceiling.
Dante grunted to get her attention and they both bowed to all of us. We looked to King Cassius for acknowledgement.
He nodded and stood. His movements were like he was walking on clouds. Gently, he took Ember’s hand and kissed it.
“You, my dear, are quite beautiful. You remind me of my little one.”
“I didn’t know vampires could have children.”
“Oh, we can little one.” King Cassius replied.
“Shall we sit and discuss things further?” My King asked. Motioning for everyone to take a seat.
Everyone took their seat. King Cassius began talking to Ember, asking her questions. The conversation was very laid back. I relaxed, but felt exhaustion threatening to take over.
“Your highness, I can feel that you are not well,” King Cassius said to me.
“I am fine, there has just been a lot going on,” he responded. I knew in my heart something was wrong, but I didn’t have time to address it yet.
“You should really see a doctor,” he said.
When everyone saw I wasn’t going to budge, they decided to let it go.
I could feel my mates looking at me with concern. I just nodded my head, showing I wasn’t interested in discussing it now.
Several hours later, we came to an agreement. King Cassius has agreed to our requests. His only requirement is that we allow him into our archives. He wanted to learn more about the history of vampirism.
King Cassius’ greatly enjoyed the party we held for him
the following night. He even went as far as showing an interest in one of our warriors. She reciprocated his interest. We weren’t sure if they were mates, but there was very obviously something there.
Several days had passed and we were welcoming King Vlad. Things went much like with all of the other kings. He was a bit more skeptical about helping us. Ember had returned to her pack already. He wasn’t as keen on meeting her. He, however, showed an interest in the technological advances we had been performing on our security system. He too agreed to ally with us.
The vampires were having a quiet disagreement with the Siren Kingdom and it could turn nasty quickly. Our treaty was being presented at the right moment.
Unlike the other species, who had multiple kingdoms, the fairies only had one King and Queen. Fairies were devious and tricksters. We had to be very careful with them. We had to ramp up security and find ways of testing the food and drink before it got to us. They were known to hoodwink one into giving them things they wouldn’t normally. For instance, the Jinns were tricked into giving up some of their land. It’s brought quite a bit of bitterness between them. Then there were the demons. They weren’t as predominant as they once were, but the Fairies regularly pissed them off.
The Fairy King Oberon showed zero interest in seeking the kingdom. He wanted to explore our forest. It didn’t surprise me much as they were centered on nature. Their Goddess is Áline. She is said to be the Goddess of light and nature. I have always thought their Goddess was nothing like her children. Fairies cannot tell lies. Therefore, they were brutally honest, but they had ways of warping the truth. Hence, why, when asking a question, you have to be very selective in your choice of words.
With this kingdom, I allowed my kings to do all of the talking. I was worn down and wasn’t able to think clearly. They both tried to get me to stay in bed, but I didn’t have it. It would seem disrespectful to me to attend everyone else’s meetings and then skip out on this one. No matter the reason. Fairies were easily offended and we didn’t need strife with them along with everything else going on.
The fairies agreed to not only sign a peace treaty, but they also agreed to read the magic behind the curse on the Dragon known as Dante, Ember’s protector. I kept getting weird looks from King Oberon. I could feel he knew I wasn’t well.
As the meeting came to a close, the king requested, in return, to ally himself with us. He not only wanted help in the event of a war, but also, he wanted to read me.
I am not your normal Lycan Werewolf Hybrid. I am more. He wanted to read my magic. At first, I was going to refuse, but then thought hard about how easy it would be for me just to let him read me and then Ember would have an ally.
I agreed, but I could see my Kings were not happy with my decision. They have learned to trust me and rather than fighting me on my decision, they allowed the king to come over and place his hand on mine.
I closed my eyes and I felt our hands heat up. He, too, had his eyes closed. It was as if he was actually touching my aura. I could feel as he picked everything apart to understand it.
He gently placed my hand back down and stood.
“Your highness, you have been through much. I see your pain and anger. I feel your happiness and love. Your aura tells a story of your past, present, and future. Your future holds many trails, but also some very unexpected surprises. Your future speaks to me and tells me of a story of love that will save us all. My Queen, your future is not only intwined with the Phoenix Dragon, but that of all of us. I have seen it. The future we have before us is going to be quite interesting.” He smiled a sly smile that made me worry.
His smile set me on edge, but his eyes held a kindness and love in them. No wonder they say Fairies are very intense creatures.
As we were adjourning, King Oberon came over to me and told me I needed to see a doctor about my illness. Should I not, it would be catastrophic.
His words were heard by my Kings and before I could properly respond, my King had me bridal style and was carrying me to the hospital.
The Betas took over for my Kings as they got me checked into the hospital. I didn’t put up much of a fight, especially since King Oberon gave the warning he did.
My doctor came in quickly and began getting tests ordered. None of us knew what was wrong, so he ordered everything. And I mean everything.
Blood panels, scans, and anything else they could think of. It only took a few hours for most of it to come back. Everything looked fine. The only thing we were waiting for was my blood panel. With the number of tests, they ordered they had to take 5 vials of blood.
At some point, I dozed off and was startled awake by the doctor coming in.
“I have news.” He spoke. My Second King rushes over and helps me sit up.
