Chapter 4

1485 Words
Samika's POV "It's okay, you got this" Devon says but charges forward and is ready to throw a punch. I duck down and do a sumo squat almost, making the crowd laugh. Thankfully I dodged his punch. Devon looks at me and gives me his hand, then looks at everyone else. Not just looks but glares at them. Everyone falls silent. "Now this is why you should be fighting instead of giving speeches on love," Devon says. I stand up on my legs again. I was able to kill Alpha Jerome because I had a silver knife and werewolves are lethal to silver. Makes me believe that I am not a werewolf myself. I can handle silver perfectly. But right now, I don't have time to think about all of that. I just need to fight back. Even if I don't win, I should at least be giving him tough competition. Devon looks at me again and lunges, this time I calculate his move a little. I grab his arm and try twisting it, but he is faster than I can ever be. Just with a gentle push, I fall on the ground. The crowd hisses probably out of sympathy and nothing more. I close my eyes for a couple of seconds in frustration, getting tired of myself. I stepped out of the rink and everyone including Devon stopped everything they were doing and watched my every move. I look around and no one is looking me in the eye. Only one woman. She is smiling a little and I nod at her. She walks towards me in quick and long strides. She hands me a pair of leggings instead and shows me the way to the chamber that she wolves use to shift back and get dressed. I take my dress off and change into comfortable clothes. The woman even helps me with my hair, as she ties it into a bun. The moment I step out of the chamber, I look at Devon and it is clear that he is amused. I realized that my clothing and basic necessities weren't letting me fight. It was only pulling me down. I get in the rink again and the crowd is entirely silent. No one is making a sound and I know it is Devon's doing. This time I am ready as I clench my fists and place them before me, ready to defend myself so that would probably give me some time to figure out how to charge at him. Devon smirks as he makes his first move again, and this time he almost runs towards me. I try my best not to panic and I block his punch that was meant for my jaw. And with my other hand I tried punching him in his stomach but he didn't even budge a little. Not even an inch. But what he did next threw me off guard. He literally moved forward with my both arms blocking his arms. And I might seem like a feather to him, because as he walked forward I kept sliding backwards. I wasn't even taking steps, and it seemed so smooth and effortless for Devon to do so. "This isn't you, love. Fight back" he says as he pins me to one of the edges of the rink. I want to scream at myself but I maintain composure. Devon and I walk back to the center of the rink and this time, I take the charge. I know he is going to block all of my punches. So I just went in without any strategy. I threw my arms and legs wherever I wished for without a solid pattern that seemed to amuse and confuse Devon. When he was busy blocking my kicks and punches, I found a weak spot on Devon. A cut that seems to be healing. He might have gotten it from the fight earlier with Tyler. The cut was on his waist and there was still a little blood, so I didn't waste my time. I used all my energy and punched him straight on it that actually made him wince a little. That caught him off guard and I used that two seconds to throw another punch with greater energy. My fist collided with her perfect jaw and he stumbled a little, falling on his knees. The crowd is going wild right now and I stare at Devon. He is smiling with his hand on his waist, it probably hurts him. I stood there waiting for him to get up, but he didn't. Instead, he stood on one knee and bowed down to me. That prompted everyone else to do the same as well. "No. Stand up. Fight. I literally did nothing," I say but Devon only shakes his head as he stands up. He grabs my hand and I already feel a little dizzy both because of the fight and the sparks intensity mixed together. He raises his hand along with mine and the crowd is going wild. Like crazily wild. Once Devon and I got out of the rink, Tyler and the woman from earlier approached us. "That was a feast to my eyes," Tyler says with a grin. Devon just nods in acknowledgement and I wonder why he doesn't smile or smirk the way he does with me, towards anyone else. "Absolutely," the woman says as she gives me a bottle of water. I smile in appreciation. "I am Cassandra by the way. Gamma Female and this i***t's mate, unfortunately," she says, making Tyler roll his eyes. Oh now I see why she could look me in the eye. She is a Gamma Female. A high rank as well. I smile at her again and notice her features. She has light blonde hair while I have dark blonde hair. Her eyes are so blue one can drown in them. And the freckles add beauty to her pale skin. She isn't fair but actually pale. While I lean towards dusky skin tone. "You actually landed a punch, that was really really impressive," Cassandra says and she tilts her head silently asking me to join her walk and I do. "I did only that and nothing else, Cassandra" I tell her and she laughs. "Landing a punch on Devon itself is a win, Alpha. And Cass is fine. Cassandra is too long. Or Cassie. Anything you feel like," she shrugs. "I would love to call you Cass only if you call me Sam or Samika. Deal for a deal," I tell her, making her chuckle. "Alright, Samika" she says and I smile at her. "What are your plans for the rest of the day?" She asks me. And I don't even know what to do because plans are far from doing anything. I am basically an Alpha with no job and no idea on what to do. "I don't know. I should ask Devon," I say and turn around a little to find him walking right behind with Tyler. He looks at me the same moment I do, and he smiles a little at me. "Even Devon is coming over to our place. Why don't you join him? You can meet my son as well. He is four," Cass says and that sounds good. But I already asked Gladys to cook lunch. I know she will be putting a lot of effort into it and I don't want to skip it and give her a chance to think that I am the same as Jerome. "Why don't you people come over to the pack house? I am sure Gladys might have cooked lunch by now," I tell her and she gives it a thought. Cass stops walking and I do too, we wait for Tyler and Devon to catch up. Tyler walks by Cass's side and Devon is now by my side. "How about we go over to the pack house? Alpha invited," Cass whispers making Tyler look at me. I smile at him and he nods. "We'll go, take a quick shower and come back," he tells us and with that, both of them part ways in the other direction towards their home. Now it's just Devon and I both walking towards the pack house. I still look around trying to find Nyle. I haven't seen him since I woke up. "Where is Nyle?" I ask Devon and I notice him rolling his eyes just a little. "He left," Devon says with such venom in his voice. I can't be like.. oh my god why does he hate Nyle so much. Because his reason is stronger than anyone's somehow. I am his mate but Nyle is my boyfriend. Obviously Devon being this way towards him is justified. "He left?" I ask Devon and he only gives me a curt nod before walking into the pack house at a fast pace. He left?
